I would be delighted and honored to contribute to the campaign of such a capable and competent patriot. I'm sure he has a very fine and well earned quality of life. His willingness to engage in such a campaign in liberal laden Santa Barbara is heroic if not a bit masochistic. The least we can do is be supportive.
I hope the campaign plays hardball. There is a plethora of Carbajal's documented actions, speeches and voting record calling both his patriotism as well as allegiance into question. Serving stateside in the U.S. Marines for a brief period is admirable, but does not inoculate one from being held accountable for subsequent public actions and positions. His record should be fully and frequently exposed during the campaign...no small feat given the political makeup of local media at all levels.
Our current congressional rep shows STRONG support for violent illegals and illegal entry in general while showing STRONGER disdain for law enforcement and a majority elected POTUS. Very disappointing. Smith shows promise of change from a current misaligned representation. Thank you for this candidate profile and insight.

I have heard that Congressman Carbajol has declined to debate Bob Smith. Bob's a credible candidate, and merits a face-to-face with the incumbent. If that's the case, refusal to debate, then it's up to the constituents to demand he do so. KEYT has sponsored these events in the past. So, call or email the station. Send letters to the local news outlets demanding a debate: Noozhawk, Montecito Journal, Indy, and the new News-Press. Call Salud's office and explain to his rep why, in a democracy, robust debate between candidates is a necessary part of the election process. Frankly, I'd like to see two debates: domestic and foreign relations.Last night I attended a wonderful talk given by the great California journalist, Dan Walters. In response to a question about the disconnect between the citizenry and the electeds, he advised to bring back the "civic": the demand by US that THEY do the job we sent them to Sacramento (or DC) to do, and if not, get them out. We are too damn complacent as a people, now for many years. Write, call, meet with Salud's people and press, demand our right as voters to make up our own mind when we cast our precious ballot. (And I hope you do as I, walk into a polling place and deliver your ballot straight to the box!)

Incredible profile work here. The emphasis on Smith's military experience translating to measurale outcomes over partisan theater is key. I've seen similar dynamics in local elections where candiattes without political baggage can actually focus on implementation instead of optics. The challenge will be whether voters priortize competence in a cycle dominated by personality.
While Mr. Smith and I will probably disagree on many points, I respect him. I think he and I both want what is best for the country. We may just disagree on how to get there.
I’ve been blessed to spend countless hours conversing with Bob Smith. He is my hero. He takes time to answer all questions I have & I love that I’ve learned so much from him. He is a person of integrity & so hard working. He scarifies his precious moments with his beautiful family to make a difference for all of us living here on the central coast. Thank you so much Bob for your heart to serve. Results should be required from our political officials right? They should do their jobs. I think we deserve a debate between Salud Carbajal & Bob Smith !!! May the truth prevail!!!
