If your platform is honest who would not want to vote for you.
I have watched friends for years sell their homes or small income properties as the Left continues to erode protections for them. Now they make not pretense, increase capital gains, take the protections making living in their homes impossible.
Goofball, billionaire, and Democratic candidate for California Governor, Tom Steyer proposes “closing the Trump loophole” on commercial property by eliminating Prop 13 protections. As if businesses in California don’t have enough problems surviving in one of the most hostile business climates in the country?
Eliminating Prop 13 for residential properties would be the final nail in the coffin for California homeowners. Coupled with a fleeing insurance industry, it would make life here as about as inhabitable as living on Mars! Maybe that’s what the liberal elites want?
Why not instead elect normal, functioning human beings to office, and expand tax breaks to senior citizens, veterans, first responders, military etc.? Texas for example, has a senior citizen deduction and has NO property taxes for disabled veterans and has NO income tax.
Mileage tax, what can I say? Another scheme to penalize people for using fossil fuels and a fantasy for the environmental, Marxists who controls our state. The latest? Banning sport fishing from our shores! You simply can’t make this stuff up! Why? Because the sick individuals at PETA claims it’s animal cruelty!
Republicans had better make some headway this go round, otherwise stick a fork in this turkey, because it’s done!
The comment about banning sportfishing is NOT funny. It was first published as a joke, but you did not make that clear. To make matters worse is the reality that as we speak there is an attempt to make waters offshore out to three miles from Carpinteria a new marine sanctuary that does in fact ban all sportfishing. The original MLPAI tried to include those exact waters but was rejected because Carp Reef is too close (within a mile) to a sewage outfall pipe from the sanitation facility. The extreme environmentalists could not abide by their own rules. The same convenient blind eye they used to include Naples Reef. These same hypocrites refused to acknowledge the economic value of recreational sportfishing in that bogus preordained joke of negotiations. The same hypocrites that refused the offer from the oil companies to keep the bottom 1/2 of the platforms in place for fish habitat. Don't get me started...but I guess you did. Sorry for getting off base.
Trust me Renner, I’m not in the mood for comedy. Not only do environmentalists want to ban sport fishing off Carp, these are some of the same “activists” who want the dirt bikes off of Pismo Dunes, out of Surf Beach in Lompoc and coming to a beach near you! The usual cabal of the Sierra Club, EDC, Surf Rider and Channel Keeper. Throw in the Land Trust for SBCO so as to cobble up all the usable land for recreation, homes etc.
It’s already a problem with property taxes so expensive. Hopefully prop 13 will stay. Although I believe with the cost of housing it should be lowered not raised.
Kudos for being willing to participate in the vital but less than glamorous elected position. Probably not a lot of toothy, smiling photo-ops, ribbon cutting ceremonies and back patting going on with BOE activities. You do a great job explaining the important role of that uncelebrated position...not unlike participation on a local school board. Thank you.
It is true that not all Democrats are Socialists nor are all Republicans conservative free market capitalists. A tell that a putative Republican in not a conservative but more properly described as a RINO is in employment history. Mr Marymee has spent his entire career employed by defense contractors ultimately supported by taxpayer dollars. This work environment inculcates neither work ethic nor values that can be called conservative. Having spent my career as a physicist at large defense contractors, government labs and in small business I can attest that the experience gained at the former does not engender conservatism but rather that form of big government Republican known as a RINO. I hope I am wrong in feeling that while Mr Marymee may have won my vote, his campaign promises ring hollow.
First off, great take on your surname.

Great comment piece, you are very electable.
