Congratulations on your great escape. California has lost its way from the glory days of prosperity and opportunity for most people. We are in a downward spiral of Wokism and Socialism that will take enormous efforts and time to reverse, if ever. Many are leaving California, probably, a lot of them are the best of us. Others, for a variety of reasons cannot leave. But it is Californians who continuously vote in super-majority socialist governments and, therefore, we reap what they sow. I am sure that France will treat you well, especially as you speak the language, in my experience there, that always goes over very well.
I had always felt fortunate for the opportunity to be a colleague and friend with Calla as docents at the SB courthouse. With her ever-present hat and stylish outback attire I always knew the visitors in her tour were in for a treat. Irene and I had the pleasure of visiting the Montecito cottage on one visit for Calla’s production of an authentic Swedish smorgasbord and later to celebrate her birthday with a performance by cellist John Sant’Ambrosio. Calla is a very talented writer among her many other pursuits and her charmed life is well deserved and obviously continues to this day. Felicitations Calla. Glenn Dorfman

At 67, I too can savor the simple pleasures of aging like fine burgundy wine. In September, my wife of 18 months and I will be in France to attend her daughter, Lauren's, graduation from fashion school.
