You are one brave lady! Good for you. And escaping the WOKE culture of CA is a good thing for peace of mind and your sanity.

Hope you can endure French politics but sounds you are tucked away in the countryside with sane neighbors.

May everything you touch prosper.

Wonderful story shared with us all - and woke and French politics is all you can mention. Sad.

Congratulations on your great escape. California has lost its way from the glory days of prosperity and opportunity for most people. We are in a downward spiral of Wokism and Socialism that will take enormous efforts and time to reverse, if ever. Many are leaving California, probably, a lot of them are the best of us. Others, for a variety of reasons cannot leave. But it is Californians who continuously vote in super-majority socialist governments and, therefore, we reap what they sow. I am sure that France will treat you well, especially as you speak the language, in my experience there, that always goes over very well.

So blessed and taken by you sharing the intimate details of your life's journey. So sorry for your loss of a beloved 50-year partner.

At 67, I too can savor the simple pleasures of aging like fine burgundy wine. In September, my wife of 18 months and I will be in France to attend her daughter, Lauren's, graduation from fashion school.

We'd love to share a toast with you! If so inclined and our travel plans permit, please let us know at WallyandAngie@gmail.com
