Baby, It’s Warm Outside

I want to address, yet again, the weapon that continues to be deployed against Americans and the rest of the inhabitants of this planet: “climate change.” According to our not-so illustrious “leader,” it’s the biggest threat we face. Not unchecked crime, millions of invaders infiltrating our neighborhoods, thousands of kids dying of drug overdoses, or countless souls living on the streets.

Nope.

It’s the weather.

Right.

We’re Having a Heat Wave…

I’ve been watching a streaming series about how our magnificent planet was formed and has evolved over billions of years. Billions! And the various “climate changes” that resulted. Those changes took place not in fifty years. Or a hundred years. Or, being generous, a thousand years. Those changes occurred over millions to billions of years.

Scientists say Earth formed about 4.5 billion years ago. Since its inception, there have been at least three extinctions of nearly all life on the planet. Volcanoes and heat took out the first batch. Gas and lack of oxygen did another number, and the great ice age most people have heard about took its toll. But how many know there were at least five big ice events starting over two billion years ago? The largest was 650,000 years ago and lasted 50,000 years. In some places the depth of ice reached 12,000 feet.

Give me global warming anytime.

In more modern times, 1858 London was smacked with a heat wave that made human waste stink the place to high heaven, as they say. In the process, unable to handle the sewage, thousands of lives were lost to disease. In 1896, a heat wave slammed New York killing many people and at least a thousand horses. It’s possible the horses were the culprits, but it certainly wasn’t carbon-spewing carriages; there weren’t any.

… A Tropical Heat Wave

In 1936, a heat wave swept across North America. Temperatures reached 120 degrees and killed some 5,000 people, including over a thousand in Canada. There were thousands of “climate change” events hundreds of years before evil oil was blamed as the cause of today’s anxiety. Those events would rival anything we’ve had in the last fifty years or so since this “sky is falling” fear train took off.

Seven million people lived in the United States in the early 1800s and about 130 million by the mid 1930s. Hardly the 315 million or so of today. In 1936 there were 24 million registered passenger cars. A pittance compared to the 275 million registered today. So, what was the excuse for global warming and climate change pre combustion engine?

I don’t really understand what the motives of the democrats, liberals, communists, environmentalists, socialists (all under the same umbrella) could be, but one thing is clear: they don’t give a whit about the American people, or climate change. Their tactics are purely self-serving and have long-range implications of government control over your life, from diapers to diapers.

Climate Control is the mechanism used to scare people into believing the end is near, that unless you act – and act now – we’ll all drown in the rising seas. But they’ve been pulling these shenanigans for a few decades now. Not a single thing Al Gore predicted has come true and not a single Doomsday prediction of waitress-meteorologist OAC has panned out. A few years ago, she told us – with conviction – we only had about twelve more years before the planet ceases to exist unless we do something now.

We’re nearly half-way there.

The Temperature’s Rising

Every storm, every fire, earthquake, tornado, hurricane, are all caused by climate change. Of course it is! When simple minds are bombarded into believing it’s their fault, a lot of people eventually believe it. They’re convinced a heat spell means they better drive an electric car with power produced by coal to charge it. Or a heavy thunder shower was caused by excessive car flatulence from those other filthy vehicles. Note: EV sales have plummeted, and dealers don’t even want them on their lots.

Most of us remember how all this got started. Global warming! We were burning the planet up.

Polar bears were going extinct. Not true.

Glaciers will be gone never to return. Not true.

It isn’t Surprising

Glaciers have come and gone before, and you better hope they don’t return in any measurable way. I’d rather deal with a minuscule rise in temperature instead of being frozen and unable to grow food.

Would abandoning the use of dinosaur goo that has allowed modern man to be modern man move us forward? There’s always the whining about going organic. Wind and the sun are the answer. Great stuff and we should work toward it, but don’t be stupid and make us go backwards. There is nothing more natural, more organic, probably gluten free than the decay of animals rewarding us from deep in the earth. You can’t get more natural or more organic than that.

We Certainly Can, Can

Santa Barbara loves to tout that they’re the city that launched Earth Day based upon an oil spill that occurred 54 years ago. There have been a few incidents since then, but nothing at that level. Nevertheless, Santa Barbara won’t stop. They love to brag about how they’re adopting “an aggressive goal to reduce GHG emissions in the unincorporated area to 50% below 2018 levels by 2030.”

The language is senseless and intended to be that way. It all sounds so pretty and if you don’t do it, you’re killing the planet. Santa Barbara’s Climate Action Plan is filled with lyrical catch phrases that if you read between the lines simply mean more regulation and government control. Tossing around percentages of reducing this or that by 40% and 50% and putting more people in electric cars is purely smoke. Until EVs are cheap, can go 400 miles on a charge, have the charging stations to handle them, can charge up in fifteen minutes and the power grid to handle it all, talk is cheap.

Earth does not react to changes in decades. It requires a few million years. Even the argument that man is accelerating these changes, isn’t provable. I’m not a scientist. I’m a realist and I’m not a sucker. We may be warming, but don’t try and scare me and declare it’s my fault so you can use that against me to destroy our lives and add even more government control.

Should we take care of our home? You bet. But we should use common sense when doing so, not nonsense.
