Bonnie, thank you again for your excellent work. I have questions:

Is our government trying to send Santa Barbara into bankruptcy? I mean, actually doing what they're doing to put us into bankruptcy? They seem corrupt and uncaring enough to do it on purpose. And if so, why? What would be the gain? Who would gain from it? Or are they just too stupid to know that's what they're doing?

Why won't they stand up to Sacramento about the crazy eight story building we're being required to have behind the Mission? Why won't they stand up to the Fed about the airport noise and jet paths which cause pollution and disruption in the Goleta area for taxpaying residents and businesses - but they will fight the Fed about ICE? Do they really have that much contempt for the people who pay their salaries? And are the people who continue to vote them in just plain masochistic?

During yesterday's special meeting, Council's comments and questions, Eric Fredman made a statement. I think he is finally seeing what we all have been saying. He told them to "Stop the Hate". Bingo, TDS.

Their hate is so bad that they will do anything to fight......

Yes Bonnie, the HATE on the left is out of control, but I think I’ve figured it out. They (Liberal Left Democrats) HATE Trump more than they LOVE our Country! Also, what other hateful group do you know that hopes, roots and cheers for the demise of our Country, President, Economy, Society and way of life?

I couldn't help but look up to whom the quote he ended his comments with was attributed, that quote being: "the price of hating other human beings is loving yourself less".

Leroy Eldridge Cleaver (August 31, 1935 – May 1, 1998) was an American writer and political activist who became an early leader of the Black Panther Party... Cleaver went on to become a prominent member of the Black Panthers, having the titles Minister of Information and Head of the International Section of the Panthers, while a fugitive from the United States criminal justice system in Cuba and Algeria. Cleaver was convicted of a series of crimes including burglary, assault, rape, and attempted murder and eventually served time in Folsom and San Quentin prisons until being released on parole in late 1966. There are the hate creators, so I've discovered. For example, the FBI can mold their person of interest into anything they want and generate hate as a byproduct. I discovered this with my pool contractor that sabotaged my pool, all based on hate generated by the FBI towards me which uses the general public as "volunteers" which execute the FBI's wishes, keeping their own hands clean. The FBI Democratic Gestapo has full control over anyone. After all, they are on top of the "law enforcement" food chain. But I'm onto them. Don't let the FBI "partner" with cities, they are thugs.

All those food carts magically appear staffed, stocked up, have a supply of cash, and are picked up at the end of the day. Coordinated logistics, purchasing, running employees without collecting FICA, unemployment tax, state or federal income tax, insurance, avoiding health code inspection and enforcement. They do not hire these people after vetting and doing required federal status checks. Who benefits? Why are the city and county agencies not sued for ignoring enforcement? They put citizens at risk, harm legitimate businesses, contribute to underfunding the state unemployment insurance fund, and more. It’s time for citizens and businesses to hold elected officials responsible for the actions. It’s time to hold city and county employees responsible for their actions.

Great article, as always Bonnie. Politicians Motto (one of many): It's easy to spend someone else's money when it's not your own. Money of the taxpayer becomes essentially their "play" money for anything they want to do. The Democrats' most valued asset is the illegal immigrants; the future Democrat votes of America. It doesn't matter to the Dems if they are criminals, the net gain is votes and populating the country with more of them. The taxpayers pay for creation of the future Democrats of America. All the so-called "lost" money has found its way into other project buckets and human pockets. And the politicians think we are stupid to accept all this. Corruption by the many, "do-nothing" politicians reign and we are being steamrollered by these people at our expense. There will eventually be a dangerous threshold triggered in the future when all heck breaks loose and these crooked politicians will wish they weren't a politician.

U.S. homelessness jumped at least 36% from 2019-24. (Compare from before the covid hysteria to 3yrs after. Cali numbers are unreliable like its bogus vote counts, but we can SEE)

Did folks suddenly discover drugs? No.

Did mental illness magically surge 36%? No.

So how come folks can no longer make it who were hanging in there? What changed?

* Biden's mass invasion of 20 million illegals jacked up housing cost & crushed real wages.

* Racist, Anti-Citizen, "Social Democrat" economic policies blocked post-covid recovery of jobs and safety net availability for vulnerable citizens, especially "white" males.

What happens when 20 million illegals try to rent apts? Rents skyrocket. Citizens can no longer afford studio hovels. Property managers evict. But illegals can afford it. They jam 6 people in and they're still better off than in the S-holes they came from. Where do the citizens go?

Old-school Cal-Commie blameshifters read about the housing crisis they helped create and demand rent control, which makes it even worse.

New-school CalCom blameshifters read about the crisis they created, and they demand Cali preempt local codes so developers can pave every inch of unpaved land with hi-density housing & we all live like rats racing in a sardine can. To hell with the natural environment & the human environment.

"Libertarian" blameshifters read about the crisis they created; same demand as new-school CalComs, plus fire sale of our public land to pave that too. To hell with the environment, natural & human.

Americans with compassion for fellow citizens read about the crisis we tried to prevent and demand DEI: Deport Every Illegal. Slash legal immigration too, back to beneficial, assimilable, pre-1960s levels.

Years ago there was a tiff about how regulating the Fiesta sellers of cascarónes confetti eggs was racist, let the little people make a penny.

Now every time I drive across town I see the taco vendors on the street corners, and the flower sellers, and I presume the employees are cartel slaves working off their passage and the product is untaxed and in the case of the food unsanitary.

Reminds me of how when I used to have a business on Haley Street every day I would pass by the Elk's Lodge and see the drug dealers and prostitutes at the Garden Street corner, curb service. Or the Mexican transvestite hookers working the front of Las Conchas.

It has ALWAYS been the case that the laws have been selectively enforced here.

But now we have instant media documentation, and there is simply no excuse for some illegal activities to continue while others take enforcement precedence.

Hard for the police and sheriffs to do their jobs knowing judges will release without bail those they work hard to apprehend.

ALL people who own businesses are affected by those who operate without oversight. I pay $380 a year for a facility permit for my tattoo studio, but no one cares to regulate tax or inspect anyone who works out of their garage or does home installations. Every florist and restaurant is impacted by the illegal vendors on the streets.

With the City operating in massive debt, more than ever we cannot afford to have tax money allocated to "support" those who are here illegally and are draining the public resources. The obvious and highly visible employment of non-citizens is a logical place to start.

Keep up the good work, Bonnie. People, especially young people are beginning to hear the message. We are coming to a point where the mismanagement by our local and state government is starting to affect the regular hard-working folks where it hurts the most, the pocketbook. I think this is why the Democrats latest and I believe last gasp is to start pushing communism. The big donors are beginning to dry up so they are pushing communism to the youth. They can’t get the money so they must get the votes and the ignorance of youth, combined with their monopoly of the teachers unions and dominance of social media platforms, is where they are redoubling their efforts. we must all stay strong and keep preaching the truth! Power to the people!

I share your concerns, and you’ve laid out a very clear picture of the challenges we are facing.

When law enforcement feels unsupported or restrained from doing their jobs, the natural outcome is low morale and—yes—a potential exodus of experienced officers. That impacts everyone.

It is deeply troubling when our elected officials appear selective about which laws to enforce. If we are not upholding the rule of law equally, then we are eroding trust in the very institutions that are supposed to protect us.

Your point about the financial consequences is also critical. With deficits projected to balloon from over $8 million to nearly $22 million within a few short years, how can city leadership justify adding costly programs that put additional strain on public resources?

If these officials truly believe in these initiatives, perhaps they should start by contributing their own salaries to demonstrate real commitment before asking taxpayers to foot the bill.

Public safety, financial accountability, and equal application of the law should not be partisan issues.

Thank you for putting these numbers and facts in front of people—it’s time we have an honest discussion before these decisions further weaken both our police force and the community they serve.

Sobering analysis of our local political madness, Bonnie. Many years ago, Malcom X gave a stern warning about “White Liberals” and their deceitfulness. Our community is now teetering on financial and social collapse because of White Liberals who run our local government and are driving us over the cliff.

We see this today in Democratic Party leaders such as Zohran Mandami, who exemplify the liberal doubling down on Socialism, which seems to now appeal to young voters. Enter issues like race, social spending and defunding the police and this is where we find ourselves today.

Something has got to give, we simply cannot continue to spend ourselves into oblivion. We must as Conservatives, reach out to young people. Working hard, buying a home, getting married and having kids clearly does not seem to appeal to young people anymore. Why is this?

My own favorite quote attributed to the black radical movement of the 1960's, but in fact has anonymous origins: " If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem." This should continue to motivate us all every single day. Even speaking up, challenging truth to power on this very forum, is part of the solution.

Thanks Bonnie for illustrating how difficult it is to understand the un-understandable. It appears that it is the preverbal "apples to oranges" comparison. For year we could absorb the flow of migrants. Then LBJ"s programs greatly increased the amount the taxpayers had to pay to support the non-contributors. As long as the number was small the system handled it by simply borrowing the money and increasing the national debt. Then Biden broke the system by both eliminating vetting and flooding the system. Comparing the system pre-Biden with the one after-Biden is apples to oranges.

As a condition of employment or appointment to a political position in city, state or county positions in the state of California, individuals are required to sign a statement of allegiance to the state of California and to the federal government. Managers and attorneys and position of power in these entities, failing to both recognize and execute this requirement of enforcement should also face penalties and firing.

Thank you Bonnie for the great article. This so reminiscent of the "Summer of Love" and how the leaders let the inmates run the asylum.

And here we go again for the "leaders" who are not showing respect for the authority in this County. Does their coercing of Bill Brown then upsurp his leadership?

I watched some of the City Council meeting and was shocked by the amount of deficit the city holds from their budget and yet they kept proposing 500k to support causes that help and harbor illegal immigrants.I saw on full display the hostility of the representatives of these organizations and see how the City Council is caving to that pressure. To me that's extortion. The City thinks if they do that it will keep the peace but as leaders they should have taken control of the situation long ago and not let the inmates run the asylum.

And once the violence starts, they will have to try and take control. But at that point it will be too far left unchecked and out of control.

Remember the burning of the cities? I know GN and our leaders would allow this and not intervene but I don't think Trump would allow this again as he sent the NG in immediately during the recent LA riots.

I see the emotions running high and demands will turn into violence once they are not met.

I'm as concerned about the cleanliness of food products rendered to us from street vendors than the failure to collect sales tax. Governments have no moral authority over monies they cannot collect. On the subject of sales tax in general, this is a local or state monetary source that creeps up on the consumer in two ways. Inflation makes the percentage gouge on a product or service purchased rise with the higher prices. Raising the rate of taxation to 9.25% in Santa Barbara and 8.75% in Goleta is a double whammy that I personally have noticed. I just returned from a gig in Chicago. Sales tax in Cook County is 10.25%. Ouch! Okay, sales tax in red state Mississippi is 10%, but that's their major source of income. They don't have all the other taxes as do Illinois and California.
