They even cheat on the Best Of Contest.

That's a new low.

That “Best of” stuff is ridiculous. It is just owners, friends of owners and encouraged employees to vote. Nothing to do with quality.

About Ellen Bilstein- she has been trying to become a “Fellow” with the AIA for many years and she never gets the prestigious award. She is no great architect..

Good work in asking the details. As the saying goes the Devil is in the Details.

The "stalking dog" for this project was and is Bildsten Architecture and Planning. But this is nothing new in the City of Santa Barbara over the past 30 years. The supposed environmentalist were and have been overtaken by "we have the votes now lets knock it down." Think this is incorrect? Does anyone remember Tax'n Jackson and her husband violating the building codes for their 2 story development on State St.? It was for the betterment of the community? No it was a test case for high density infill development.

What you have on the LEFT is a crisis of identity. The idiotic project for the Mission "270 apartments and parking in eight stories of residential on the West side and seven stories of housing plus three stories of parking on the East Los Olivos Street side." is just that. How do the now "defenders of La Raza" and the "environment" get away with this? They import people from out of town (right Harmon & Santa Maria?). Yet you never seem to see the fraud when you elect them? As Bonnie says do your homework. There will be a test on Tuesday.

The paper that published Best of???? has been known for backing failed projects and concepts. The list is too long for here.

Donovan's next question is "And What About Grand Avenue?"

Remember the item above - the 2 story test case on State by the Episcopal Church? It is all connected. Good personal generational friends will be hammered by both idiotic size and building but who cares?

Bonnie asks the following: State Street alone involves a Master Plan (my comment of stupidity). Has anyone followed the money and nonprofit that acts as a political organization to shut down the street and the city transportation grid? Millions has flowed into one group and they have failed and are part of the Left's Crisis of Identity. So as the author says, Before November 3, do your homework.

(oh and if you want the ongoing truth about streets and commerce contact me at cab@CarsAreBasic.org)

Thanks Bonnie.

Bonnie, excellent recommendations based on solid analysis. It should have been scheduled for publication a little earlier. I am not a voter in the city, but my wife land I live close by, so what happens in the city affects us too.

Having observed Gabe during his task-force participation in the "Black Lives Matter"

attempted take down of the Santa Barbara police department, I think your recommendation is correct. Today, can you believe how intimidated the City Council and the County Supervisors were by two young women making their demands?

Putting an 8 story building behind the Mission is grotesque! It would have a big effect on the entire neighborhood. I thought the proposal was dead or at least dealing with strong pushback. Please let us know how we can raise our voices against it. That Jeff Shelton is involved is sad. Thanks for this information.

The "independent" is nothing but a left wing propaganda machine. The "best of" issue is an obvious example of bought and paid for garbage. They promote pot shops and breweries, anything to dumb down the readers.
