I'm not the first to say this, but obviously the Democrats haven't listened: they stand for nothing except their hatred of Trump. In California all they're campaigning on right now is hating Trump. That seems to be enough to keep Dem loyalty in a lot of idiots in my white Boomer generation, but they also talk a lot about leaving California, so it's not the most stable thing to count on. I actually don't know any young (under 50) Democrats now in this state. Not one. I know a lot of Independents (which is what I now am, having left the Democrat Party in 2016). In NYC, I know young Democrats but I suspect it's because they have to be in order to have any kind of career. They're not true Dem believers like the Boomer New Yorkers I know, who seem pathetically satisfied with the their party's one-note Trump hatred. That's the horrible brilliance of Mamdani's platform - he stands for something positive with his Marxism that will destroy NYC. I'm hoping he does down and never rises again, but I think he just may destroy the Democrat Party. And if he does, thank you, Mamdani.

And Burton Voorhees commented below that Mamdani is not a Marxist. Good catch. He's a Marcusian, which is a Marxist who's sponging off academia so they can brainwash students and never have to prove their theories in the real world. Substitute government for academia and you have Mamdani

Pray that this jerk Mamdani gets elected in November - it will destroy what’s left of the Democrat party for the next 10 years.

The NY voters like his cute little give-aways - free subway rides, $30 pay etc, but that’s not what he’s about at all - he’s a card carrying, fanatical supporter of the Democratic Socialists of America.

Here’s their official platform, what they believe in and what they want to change in our beautiful America:

a) Defund the police by “cutting budgets annually towards zero.”

b) Disarm law enforcement officers

c) Close local jails

d) Free all people from involuntary confinement

e) Social ownership of all major industry and infrastructure

f) Abolish the Senate

g) Dramatically slash US military spending

h) Close all US foreign military bases

i) Immediately withdraw from NATO

j) End all deportations

k) Demilitarize the border

l) Abolish ICE and end all immigrant detention

m) Allow non citizens to vote

Don’t believe me? Check out their Official Political Platform- it will make you wanna puke! https://www.dsausa.org/dsa-political-platform-from-2021-convention

The plus side is the GOP will be able to show the world that these polices are what the Commie-Dems are really all about!

The Democratic Party has changed dramatically from when my parents were proud supporters. Gone are stalwart names like Kennedy, Muskie, Humphrey, O’Neil and Cranston. Yes, today’s Dem warriors are much different, bolder and more outspoken on their “do or die”issues ie; climate change, transgenderism, racism, Gaza, and hatred of Trump, to name a but a few. The various “issues” are a continuum and always changing, but rest assured, there is ALWAYS a crisis which requires activism, demonstrations and violence!

The Dem “psyche” is becoming less of a political movement and more of a psychiatric diagnosis. Sure, why else would someone wear a mask when they’re driving a car alone!

One thing should be perfectly clear to voters, Democrats hope, pray and promote for the destruction of our country by advocating the end of the nuclear family, end to organized religion, while advocating for crushing debt , indoctrination of our children, open borders and transgender sickness. They promote radical politicians such as AOC and more recently, Zohran Mamdani to be the standard bearer, waving the freak flag in addressing the never ending injustices committed by the rest (normal people) of us!

Let’s all hope and pray that local voters finally wake up and vote out the party which has caused so much suffering and damage to our communities and reject the Dem disastrous policies along with their Rino enablers!

And the issue with speaking about Gaza is - what, exactly? Leftists may have cringe slogans and operate under secular humanist ideals, but at least they can oppose evil (even if it's superficial/ideologically convenient), including the prolonged suffering in Palestine thanks to Israel's refusal to end this fruitless war.

And why does it matter that the names of democrats have changed - why do you care about the democrat party of old? What do they offer? Why the nostalgia? And what then would you like the democrat party to become? A party indistinguishable from the republican one? A new flavor of MAGA to ensure that any "opposition" is in fact a reskin of your preferred ideals?

Gaza (not Palestine), suffers because they decided to invade Israel. You consider it fruitless, but getting rid of a belligerent, murderous next-door neighbor does not seem fruitless to Israel. It's curious how you reframe my concerns by implying that Gaza isn't Palestinian or inhabited by Palestinians, and that you seem to imply a Palestinian = Hamas. "Getting rid of a belligerent, murderous next door neighbor-" I don't recall Palestinian families being murderers, it seems Israel is the one occupied with bombing civilians, Christian Churches...

It is ironic to accuse me of being myopic, when in your own world view politics is reduced to

"MAGA GOOD. DEMS BAD". I don't view politics in this way, I am simply aloof to the modern political spectrum and stand outside it, focusing on the issues important to me regardless of how they align (or don't) with contemporary ideologies. And I also distinctly recall you accusing me, a Catholic monarchist for being a liberal... only because I criticized conservatives. This is a textbook case if myopia in action, you couldn't even perceive someone outside the political binary you have could exist and criticize your side without somehow belonging to "the enemy".

The common bonds of national unity became frayed and undone beginning with George McGovern in 1972. The anti-American animus was born amidst the socialist New Left adherents thrust to the nation's attention in the streets of Chicago in 1968 outside the Democrat National Convention. With President Nixon on a roll heading into reelection, few mainstream Democrat stalwarts wanted to be their party's sacrificial lamb. Thus, the little known McGovern stepped forward. With "Watergate" forcing Nixon's resignation and weakening Republican chances to prevail in 1976, Democrats looked to fresh mainstream blood (with a Southern accent) in Jimmy Carter. Also diminishing the political surge left among Democrats was Ronald Reagan's popularity, and his carryover to 3.0 with the likes of Bush '41. But with the unexpected rise to power of the Clintonians, the left was in a position to transfer a lot of its ideological energy built up over 20 years in the universities to Washington, D.C. and the non-profit think tanks. With Bush '43 a mere speedbump on the road to power, leftists were standing in the wings ready to steer the ship of state as soon as Barack Obama finished twirling Michelle around at his last Inaugural Ball. All that has stood in the way of a complete communist transformation from a government limited by our U.S. Constitution - was/is Donald J. Trump!

It is no surprise that the issues of transportation and freedom of movement mirrors the issues of politics.

It is no surprise that the average "Joe" doesn't look to the workings of government and expects a box of chocolates for the price of a lolly-pop.

The Dem's in Calif. have done a great job in advertising See's Candy for the cost of robbing the producers (that is you and me the working middle class) and then back slapping the wealthy by saying "don't worry we'll leave you enough to continue your life style" and you then have to invest in Calif.

Well guess what. $.65 cent gasoline tax over stepped. Not taking care of streets to force you "OUT" of your personal car or work truck over stepped. Giving to NGO's that are nothing more than Political Action Committee's (did I mentioned the failed safe routes to schools program?), over stepped.

Suddenly the average "Joe" is looking back on 40-50 years of Socialist Planning that takes more then it delivers. Does anyone who thinks the shift reported here is a mistake. Forest Gump was right...Stupid is as Stupid does. Newsom moves into a $9 million house calls it a "farm(?)" for tax purposes. The Dem's like Wiener, Limon, Hart and the rest believe that the massive increase in taxes, the idiotic Dem. demands for welfare because "you" want for free will not be noticed?

Just in Santa Barbara there is a massive up-rising over destroyed street grids, impossible ease of transportation and of course the MULTI MILLION DOLLARS SPENT JUST IN THE PAST 5 YEARS.

$.65 cent gas tax? At the same time new technology continues to clean the air at no further tax cost?

It has taken a BASEBALL BAT to waken the electorate. It HURTS!!!

Individual pride and ingenuity is being ripped out of the heart of America, Calif., and Santa Barbara! In the name of equality.

Here is my last point we may have been born equal, but EVERY person has individual faults, IQ, and capacities. The Socialist / Communist fantasy ignores that. Hopefully Chuckie, Slick, and the rest will continue to use their idiotic BASEBALL BAT. "Joe Public" is seeing this and has had enough of the takers and spenders.

Then the producers and innovators will bring balance back to this City, State, and Nation.

The last president we elected was in 1960, and he was a Democrat.

We’ve had no real elections since. None. Not a one.

In 2000, 2004, 2016 and 2020 the elections were stolen from Democratic voters, with the last two being stolen by DNC fraud itself.

Democrats have thus been oppressed and manipulated into something that doesn’t represent the truths of their constituents, and millions have given up as a result.

This is not the same for the other party. Be glad you’re not as oppressed, but do not relish in any authentic victories when none have been achieved.

In 2024 there were approximately 245 million eligible voters, yet approximately 92 million didn’t vote… the numbers varied a little at the final result, but 36% of voters didn’t even vote!

Does this administration have the mandate of We The People, ABSOLUTELY NOT! That’s been stolen generations ago.

What’s needed is for the party in charge at the moment to understand that they do not have the interests of the people of this country represented and the numbers and actual history back this up.

Imagine if an actual candidate had been allowed to run in 2016 & 2020 and then jog your memory back even farther.
