If you listen to pundits on either side of the political aisle, you’ll hear many of them claim that Democrats and the Democrat Party “stand for nothing,” “don’t know what they stand for,” or even “the only thing they know is that they are against Trump.” In other words, the claim is that Democrats don’t know what it is they stand for.
Don’t believe it.
You know, I know, and they know exactly what the Democrat Party “stands for” and to most of us common sense folks, today’s Democrat Party stands for something their forebears would not recognize. Today’s Democrat Party represents an entirely different version of what “democracy” might have looked like to its party leaders, say, 50 years ago. Lucky for us, enough Americans saw through the deception and elected Donald Trump in November 2024.
But, in case you’re among that nearly 50% of voters who did fall for and may continue to fall for the mendacities doled out by the likes of speech writers for Joe Biden and/or Kamala Harris, and the nonsense spewed by the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Adam Schiff, Hakeem Jeffries, and other spokespeople, the following is a short list of the things the Democrat Party does stand for.
Out-of-control and essentially non-existent national borders that allow for free and unfettered access to all who seek to cross into the U.S., regardless of their purposes or intentions.
Spending and borrowing unlimited (and unsustainable) amounts of money to support both a bloated bureaucracy and this uninvited flood of humanity.
Taxing the middle class just high enough so that almost no one is capable of either saving enough for retirement, a down-payment on a home, or moving up financially.
In favor of blurring the line between boys and girls, men and women, and for allowing, indeed encouraging men and boys to compete against women and girls in sport.
In favor of permitting teachers, administrators, and school nurses to enable confused youths to “transition” into the sex (gender) of their choosing without a parent’s or guardian’s knowledge. Any information about such activities taking place at school or in the nurse’s office would be kept away from parents. Dr. Frankenstein or (dare I say it?) Dr. Mengele would find himself right at home in the 2025 Democrat Party.
There is so much more the 2025 Democrat Party really stands for, but would rather you not ask too much about, so to get a better idea, let’s examine, for example, the “Party Platform” presented to the 2024 Democratic National Convention.
It begins with a “Land Acknowledgement” to tribes that were there before:
“While we meet in Chicago, we also recognize and honor the traditional homelands of the Anishinaabe, also known as the Council of the Three Fires: the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi Nations. We acknowledge the many other tribes who consider this area their traditional homeland, including the Myaamia, Ho-Chunk, Menominee, Sac and Fox, Peoria, Kaskaskia, Wea, Kickapoo, and Mascouten.”
Democrat virtue is put on full display by naming every tribe that ever inhabited the area that the white men stole.
Which, I guess, is par for the course, but maybe, just maybe, Democrats could have added a line or two about, say, the Chicagoans who arranged and paid for sending horses, hardtack, preserved meats, tents, saddles, harnesses, and such to Union Troops during the Civil War.
Or, they could have given a nod to how Chicago served as a refuge to Blacks having escaped slavery and later having fled the enforced and demeaning official segregation of the “races” and predations of the [Democrat-inspired] Ku Klux Klan in the Deep South.
The Preamble to the Democrats’ Party Platform also contains a string of what – to be kind – can only be referred to as poppycock, or “malarky” as former president Joe Biden might have called it.
“President Biden and Vice President Harris took office during a time of global pandemic, record job loss, and record crime…”
Huh?
The “global pandemic” was real, but that “record job loss” was due entirely to the Covid-19 pandemic; before that, the first Trump administration had delivered the best employment record in the last fifty years.
“Record crime?” Except for perhaps what was going on with Hunter Biden and the rest of the Biden clan, things were peaceful until the Democrat-inspired big-city riots of 2020 erupted after the unfortunate death of a miscreant by the name of George Floyd.
“President Biden and Vice President Harris turned a setback into a great American comeback for working families.”
Wow, that’s some claim. And it is entirely false.
“We’ve created nearly 16 million jobs…”
Please, those jobs – other than government jobs – certainly weren’t “created” by anything the Biden administration did. Virtually all of them were simply people going back to work after the pandemic wound down.
“… a record number of small businesses are being started, and factories are coming home.”
To that you are invited to shake your head and say “Really?” along with me.
Here are more tidbits from this delusionary record of the Biden administration:
“We lowered families' health insurance premiums… stood up to Big Pharma… are helping students catch up on learning loss… made record investments in public safety, putting more police officers on the beat… fighting climate change, reducing pollution, and fueling a clean energy boom… rebuilding our nation’s roads, bridges, highways, ports, airports, water systems, and more… seizing record amounts of fentanyl and securing our border in the face of Republican inaction (italics mine).
Do you remember any of that?
Neither do I.
I do remember, however, the millions of [mostly young, mostly peaceful?] men surging across what amounted to a four-year open border. It was a surge that made billionaires of many Mexican cartel leaders.
The platform goes on to boast that Democrats were “closing the racial wealth gap and the [fictitious] gender pay gap… expanded benefits and services for toxic-exposed veterans… strengthening NATO and restoring American leadership in the world.”
There are promises too:
“Democrats will fix the tax system so everyone has a fair shot. We will restore the right to choose. We will continue to bring down costs for families. We will continue to reject political violence of all forms and give hate no safe harbor.”
Yeah, right.
And naturally, there are swipes at President Trump:
“Donald Trump has a very different vision – one focused not on opportunity and optimism, but on revenge and retribution; not on the American people, but on himself.
“He and his extreme MAGA allies are ripping away our bedrock personal freedoms, dictating what health care decisions women can make, banning books, and telling people who they can love. They’re rigging our economy for their rich friends and big corporations, pushing more trickle-down tax cuts for the wealthy and powerful, and a new national sales tax that will cost every working family an average $2,500 a year.
“They’ll cut the Social Security benefits that folks have paid into for their whole lives; and gut Medicare, Medicaid, health care, and prescription drug coverage. They are eroding our democracy with lies and threats, have refused to denounce political violence, and are making it harder to vote. And given the chance, they’ll keep stacking our courts, locking in their extreme agenda for decades. We cannot let that happen.”
Whew, those Republicans sure are mean!
Not to worry. Here’s the Democrat hopey/changey antidote to the abovementioned Republican carnage:
”Democrats are running to finish the job. To grow our economy from the middle out and bottom up, not the top down. To reward work, not wealth. To lower costs. To tackle the climate crisis, lower energy costs, and secure energy independence. To protect communities and tackle the scourge of gun violence. To secure the border and fix the broken immigration system. To advance the President’s Unity Agenda. To strengthen American leadership worldwide.”
It’s no wonder Democrats were beaten so badly. No one other than a brain-dead MSNBC/CNN viewer could believe any of this fabricated mind pollution.

Great, Jim, thank you. It would be better for the future of this planet if we weren't allowing the Dems to colonize our thoughts. We have to think about them somewhat, because if we turn away from them to more constructive thoughts for too long, then they get up to shit. But my wish for my politically sensible friends is that they compartmentalize the Dems. I mean, you don't think about the rat problem in Santa Barbara all the time, do you? I certainly hope not. Sometimes on SB Current really smart people waste too much of their brains trying to argue sense with looney Dem commenters. It's not possible to get through to them, and I wish my brainy friends would apply their mental horsepower to other non-Dem things. The world would quickly be a better place. But perhaps I feel this way because of my recent near-death experience, which put a lot of things in perspective.
Concise, comprehensive, timely. Spot on Jim! Democrats struggle to govern despite having limitless power in CA. They equate spending with success; where are the results, the improvements from spending? Job creation is employment for ‘their own’ in government jobs or from government grant funding to NGOs and NPOs. Housing means years planning affordable, tax exempt rentals (not ownership) to be subsidized by bonds paid for only by property owners of taxable properties. Education means 7:30-5:30 relief from parental responsibilities with provision of 2-3 meals, with children free to be. There is no accounting of where the money goes for homelessness, veterans, or any line item because of their arrogant anything goes attitude. When there’s a revenue shortfall attention is turned to confiscation of income, via more taxes and fees, and of private property, post disasters and local ordinances.
Democrat youth self-identify as good people because “we’re compassionate, we care” and so therefore “we deserve”. No one deserves anything; they earn it! Entitled beyond my comprehension. We deserve to live in high cost communities, we deserve to travel, we deserve tax paid child care, we deserve a new versus used car, … we deserve regardless of $36T national debt.
On Fareed Zacarias two younger male journalists — presumably Democrats — Ezra Klein and Derek Thompson discussed their book Abundance, a “call to renew a politics of plenty, face up to the failures of liberal governance, and abandon the chosen scarcities that have deformed American life.” They call for an attitude change, adding that one path forward for Democrats is to cut regs and tax on building things. DEMs regulate; GOP deregulate. DEMs do not care about efficiency or spending, they ‘feel’ rather than analyze (so don’t fire but rather unionize). Their summation was accurate which can be confirmed in Santa Barbara County: Democrats do not use power well.
If DEMs don’t change, CA and blue states will continue to loose people, loose taxpayers. However, will they loose power?
