We have safe nuclear power technology that has zero emissions. Instead of upgrading that technology, we are on an extension to a 2030 shutdown of our only plant. The waste from an entire lifetime of a nuclear power plant gets contained in a 1 acre concrete containment - compare that to dotting our entire landscape and ocean with windmills and solar panels, with all the issues Andy discussed above, it’s almost like we are intentionally choosing stupid.

France gets 70% of its power from nuclear and has the lowest per capita emissions in the first world…this is why we need more STEM educated humans with real world experience in elected office and less career politicians that couldn’t pass 12th grade literacy in math from our CA schools.

Sorry, Andy Caldwell is putting in way too many hours in exposing the absolute destructive energy policies of this county and the state to hijack this conversation to a different topic. Destructive policies so that a Governor and a Chairwoman of the County Board of Supervisors can get personal political gain with the far left base - at the expense of our economy, jobs, and futures.

Life is already harder here on middle and working class Americans than any other state and most counties in the United States.

This discussion and topic needs to be respected to pull Santa Barbaran’s heads out of the sand, regardless of political party and other controversial topics. Add SLO county to that sentiment as well since Diablo Canyon is their #1 private employer.

Thank you, Andy. I would send this along to the people I know who vote Dem, but they'd just stop talking to me. It would have no effect on them. And here's what really disturbs me about the future of this beautiful city. Our SB government behaves like an abusive spouse. And the people who keep voting this govt into power are like battered wives who deny their husbands beat them up even as they return over and over to the ER bloodied and bruised until they finally are DOA. That's bad enough. But they're willing for these psychos to destroy us, too. Because it's more important for these Dem voters to believe that they are “good” and “right” than to see the truth.

There are folks out there that want your home and property and will do some extremely 8nsane things to make that happen, including burning you out and further fouling the air you breathe and destroy8ng the planet’s cycles and ecosystem to keep us from living in health or growing food. CA citizens, as is true for most in this country, are so indoctrinated to believe government will take care of them they can’t imagine the opposite. Until it’s too late. Even the wealthy look to be targets as in the Pallisades not ever being rebuilt. This isn’t climate warming. It’s war. By the people everyone trusts.

So odd how Capps et al seem to know nothing of the history of petrochemical pollution, oilfield mining and air pollution management by the oil industry itself.

I recall when two huge capture tents were placed over the ancient methane fields off Coal Oil Point in Goleta. The capture was sent to Ellwood for processing and supplied NG to the region, offsetting most, if not all SB auto emissions.

Later, when a permit was eventually granted for the adjacent platform to slant drill into the reserve, production from the tents dropped to zero, however the gas was still being transferred to Ellwood via the platform conduit.

SB killed all of that eventually. So now it is headed back into "Same as it ever was" land again.

WHOI, when they discovered what existed in the SB Channel, sent a research team to study the seepage fields that UCSB Geology Dept had a good grasp on the mechanics of. They estimated that over time it was something like 50 Exxon Valdez spill volumes of asphaltum that had been expelled into the marine ecosystem over time.

But it could be more than that, since Juan Cabrillo's navigator documented an extremely heavy presence of surface oil and dense vapor, as they sailed through the channel region. It was at that time, a resource utilized by the various Chumash bands populating our coast.

What is really interesting is something not many are aware of. It is that when the seepage rates declined via oilfield mining and gas capture, the benthic community was then able to reassign it's efforts from processing the pollutants to creating new layers of marine life.

Seeing some of the video dive surveys of the Goleta region post clean up were stunning to me as the water column and bottom looked completely different than when I fished dove and surfed that coast and channel in the 60s-80's. It was much more vital and dynamic. SO much less sticky bllack pitch on coastal morphology for us to step into also.

The subject of Trump and Iran is very important and not to be dismissed but perhaps if people could write "Letters to the Editor" the reception would be more worthwhile reading and we may find that there would be more intelligent communication between folks who commented on the editorial.

If someone reads it, they may take it as truth if it's not challenged or corrected. I don't like taking time away from the real topic to correct someone, but I also don't like ignoring it.

I remember back to my beloved Dog Hoshi a traditional red and white akita who had to be nebulized for she developed pneumonia during a thunderstorm that year the vet bill for that ine night $500 this was back in mid 2000's. The vet prescribed Cipro that cost $500 now this the the vet down on ocean ave and 7th in lompoc. Cost was too high for obvious reasons so i purchased what i needed from Canada for $40. This is why and how NewCaliforniaState.com exposed this news through our bi- weekly calls for the public to call in and ask questions we extended our borders and control over the LA, and Long Beach Ports, and Ports in the Sacamento River delta. It is Cal-ExitNow.org that suceeded California from the Union and Paul Preston through the power of our compacted California Constitution of 1849 with God's natural laws with thr 10 commandments become a reorganized into the NewCaliforniaState 51st State with the population split with 90+ percent of the land coming back into our possession.
