Local media reporting of news is dependent on donors and advertisers. To message in local print media, conservatives and moderates must pay for display advertising. Where is the remaining ‘fair and balanced’ media? I know of none. (I rely on X, text messages, emails, followed up by researching multiple sources.) There is no community wide shared objective source of news or politics.

I think, without having to crawl down a rabbit hole of conspiracy theories, we can understand why members of Biden's inner circle (and possibly even some members of the media) tried to conceal Joe's senility from the public. 4. Trump's acceptance of the $400m 747 Qatari "gift" to serve as the new Air Force One for the next 3.5 years. Then will it be passed on to the next administration? Of course not; it is to remain in Trump's possession at his yet-to-be-envisioned Presidential Library.

And perhaps the apogee (we can only hope) of this fully-corrupt administration will occur tomorrow night at Trump's Virginia golf resort wherein 47 himself will regale, with a sumptuous gala and presidential access, the top 220 investors in his Trump crypto currency meme coin, 80% of which is controlled by the Trump organization.
Of course, there's a lot more examples of Trump's unfettered corruption (such as, didn't he promise to balance the budget yet now his Big Beautiful Bill stands to add $3.3T to the national debt?) but my poor fingers are bleeding and we're just four months in. Best to buckle up.
I worked for an ABC affiliate governed under the ‘Fairness Doctrine’. IF an employee wished to campaign for a particular candidate, they were advised to take leave or personal time. We were not allowed to be partisan in reporting or social mixing. This kept the licensed broadcast media in neutral positions, giving equal time to candidates or political manifestos.
If the mainstream media had been publishing and broadcasting the truth about Covid and Trump’s Operation Warp Speed the government would’ve been changed in a heartbeat as it should have been.

So you pro-trumpers, you should be ecstatic at how happy you’re making the gimme, gimme president, sure he’s throwing you a few crumbs, saying he’s going to lower drug costs and not tax overtime and tips, well, that’s good for some people but not everybody.
The author is so able to see exactly one side of an issue that I wonder if he has exactly one eye. Media bias is bad and it’s easy to find examples of both bias and blunders. But concluding that somehow "Fox, Podcasts and the Santa Barbara Current" are different is laughable. Those outlets are echo chambers full of people agreeing with themselves. They find nothing wrong with accepting a $400M bribe (that will cost an additional $1B in refurbishment to be usable), they condemn Hunter, but not Don Jr. and Eric who are doing exactly the same thing: granting access in return for money. They can’t even condemn the mob that stormed the Capitol in plain sight of everyone. Is it possible, perhaps, that your media condemnation has a touch of the pot calling the kettle black?
I think, without having to crawl down a rabbit hole of conspiracy theories, we can understand why members of Biden's inner circle (and possibly even some members of the media) tried to conceal Joe's senility from the public. Namely, the Democratic Party thought Biden was the best hope in defeating Trump in November 2024 since he had already vanquished Trump by some 7 million votes back in 2020. (My apologies to those of you who still think the 2020 election was "stolen." It wasn't. Get over it.
But then in June of 2024 when Biden's nascent dementia made itself so blatantly apparent during his disastrous debate with Trump, that's what set the Democrats scrambling to replace him with a viable second-choice candidate. That's when, for better or for worse, they settled on Kamala. And the rest is history.
So why did the Democratic party stoop to such deceit? I think these first four months of Trump explains it all.
Ignoring the ignoramus lies about lowering prices and ending the Gazan and Ukrainian wars on "Day One," or renaming the Gulf of Mexico, or repealing the MCA free trade deals with Mexico and Canada (which Trump 45 negotiated!), or threatening Greenland, or cozying up to Putin, or straining our allegiance with our NATO allies... I think we see now what that "inner circle" really feared; namely, the shameless, blatant, unprecedented corruption taking place today in the Trump administration.
Need to review the list? Okay then, in no particular order:
1. Trump's suspension by Executive Order in February of the "Foreign Corrupt Practices Act." (How convenient!)
2. Trump's dissolving of the FBI unit in charge of investigating Public and Congressional fraud, including those related to the overturning of the 2020 election.
3. Trump's illegal firing of more than 17 Investigator Generals, whose impartial roles were to safeguard taxpayers from fraud, waste and abuse (sound familiar) in such departments as Defense and Veterans' Affairs.
4. Trump's acceptance of the $400m 747 Qatari "gift" to serve as the new Air Force One for the next 3.5 years. Then will it be passed on to the next administration? Of course not; it is to remain in Trump's possession at his yet-to-be-envisioned Presidential Library.
5. And perhaps the apogee (we can only hope) of this fully-corrupt administration will occur tomorrow night at Trump's Virginia golf resort wherein 47 himself will regale, with a sumptuous gala and presidential access, the top 220 investors in his Trump crypto currency meme coin, 80% of which is controlled by the Trump organization.
Of course, there's a lot more examples of Trump's unfettered corruption (such as, didn't he promise to balance the budget yet now his Big Beautiful Bill stands to add $3.3T to the national debt?) but my poor fingers are bleeding and we're just four months in. Best to buckle up.
I worked for an ABC affiliate governed under the ‘Fairness Doctrine’. IF an employee wished to campaign for a particular candidate, they were advised to take leave or personal time. We were not allowed to be partisan in reporting or social mixing. This kept the licensed broadcast media in neutral positions, giving equal time to candidates or political manifestos.
If the mainstream media had been publishing and broadcasting the truth about Covid and Trump’s Operation Warp Speed the government would’ve been changed in a heartbeat as it should have been.

At the time I think few could grasp what OWS was really all about.
