At all levels, the solution is simple: throw the bums out! City, county and state officials and their employee lobbies: throw them out!

Start with the city's newly named department of "sustainability". Mission accomplished. Thank you for your service. Now stop all your own self-promotional activities, paid for on the taxpayer dime.

It's almost certain the new administration will not be bailing out poorly run, democratic states. That leaves all governments in California covering their financial asses. Successful or not, the litigation costs will be passed on to consumers as higher prices. Another well thought out political strategy by Sacramento.

Hopefully, the Department of Sustainability is looking over by the Department of Efficiency which will in turn eliminate the Department of Sustainability <g>? Bring back common sense because there is none, so it seems these days. We are governed by people with a spending disease. Remember when you were a kid and were paid 25 cents and ran off to the corner store to buy something ... sort of how government operates. That's how government operates ... just like children. Not an ounce of "adult" in them. Harris was the best example of that I've seen in a long time.

Buying future votes for partisan gain is the biggest government expense today. GOP has also done this in the past recent past too, after so our job to guard against going this way again.

All the more reason to run the government like a business and be rid of all the politics. Do this from the Fed level all the way down to the city level. We are better off with a benevolent dictator (a CEO) than a politician, IMO. We'll see how Elon does.

As Elon so eloquently put it the other day " The hammer of justice is coming"..... Meanwhile if Republicans do not delivery what President Trump and the voters want, it will be the end of the Republican party. We will start a new RINO free third party. Bet on it.

I read this article on lawfare by Andy Caldwell titled "Governments Sue to Cover Up Their Own Failures" that should be titled "Predator Attorneys In California Sue their own Community"

There is a dark force that is exacting a terrible toll on the people of California and it is led

by Predator Attorneys who are part of a broken legal system here in California. Any doubt

on the weaponization of lawfare need look no further than the myriad number of lawsuits

against sued-into-the-ground President Elect Trump and his supporters. It is one thing to

take on the rich but it is another thing altogether to use lawfare againsts the vulnerable and

helpless as rigth here in Santa Barbara California. Currently the use of "Lawfare" to destroy your oppenent or anyone is now before the US Judiciary Committee weblink here>>

https://judiciary.house.gov/media/in-the-news/rep-jordan-urges-congress-defund-lawfare-activities-trump-prosecutors

Maybe .... just maybe ... those using "Lawfare" in this town will get whats coming to them.

Live by the Sword .... Die by the Sword.

If Pepsi and Coca Cola are going to be sued it should be on medical grounds, as their sugar water is a massive contributor to obesity and type2 diabetes. The stats say the majority of EBT money (food stamps) is spent on that sugar water. Gone are the days when families getting government assistance got a box with "government cheese" and other dietary staples.

Just for an example go on Amazon and filter for what qualifies for EBT. Sodas and candy make up the vast majority of items. Until this turns around, with education in the schools teaching useful information including cooking and nutrition, we will continue to produce generations of junk food addicts, 75% unfit for military service, and medically indigent adults.

All excellent suggestions Pat, and long overdue. Plus if people can sue Pepsi for their own voluntary ingestion of soft drinks, just think what those mandated to take "covid injections" can now also do. Hmmmm...

The question begins with compulsion. With the "vaxx" there is pressure and coercion, and propaganda. With diet there is manipulation of the food to make it more addictive. Everyone wants to abdicate responsibility, so eager to blame someone else for their own failings.

Things will change when Chris Wright, Trump’s new Secretary of Energy takes over. He’s a big advocate of fossil fuel production and real skeptical of all this climate change scam.

" . . .Wright will serve on the newly formed Council of National Energy, led by North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum. This council aims to enhance U.S. energy dominance by reducing regulatory barriers and promoting private sector investment across all energy sectors."

The objective of the tax exempt groups should be obvious, which is to sue us out of a fossil fuel economy. Yes, their law fare strategy is to sue American companies on one hand, to the point it bogs down our vital industries and then on the other hand are subsidized by the US taxpayer by virtue of their tax exemption…what a scam! Groups such as Surf Rider, Sierra Club and Environmental Defense Council are nothing more than fronts for leftist environmental extremism.

What will change these costly, frivolous lawsuits? Tort reform now, whereas the losing party pays all legal fees!

In the coming months we can plan on many tactics by the leftist losers in order to derail Presidential authority. Protests on the freeway, destruction of fine art or mass sit ins, their plans are to force their ideology onto the rest of us!

LT - you do know that the author of this piece is the executive director of a tax exempt group and he's pulling down $150,000 plus a year lobbying for, among others, the oil business that would love to sell you new plastic, oil and gas. If you're going to call the groups on the left a scam you might want to just consider if what you get from the tax exempt groups on the right don't also have a measure of extremism. I usually find the sweet spot somewhere in the middle - but that's just me.....

It certainly is no secret that Andy has been with COLAB for over thirty years and I have never heard any hint of impropriety about his dealings. It is true that nowadays one must be diligent on keeping up with new pop up non profits, etc. but I certainly don't think Andy has any skeletons in the closet if that's what you are implying.

Not saying any impropriety at all. I've followed and learned from him. Just that he's a lobbbyist and politically shows one side of all the issues - as a lobbyist should do.

Side note - I don't agree with LT throwing Surfrider into the same circle as the EDC.

SCOTUS did warn us recently using the courts to sue anybody and anything when there is disagreement is not viable.

But probably a result of failed elected representatives who have lost touch with whom they claim to represent. Including the well-being of the entire country and its institutions as a whole. Putting party in front of people has created slow but deep corruption of our self-governance structure.

Then start disconnecting Gooberment workers and politicians homes too. Get those paper fans and warm blankets out Gabbing Nuisance and you idiot DumboCrats.

The utility companies could care less if they are sued.

Lawyers paid on both sides by the consumer. Then the Public Utilities Commission(PUC) grants them a rate increase to pay the lawyers and fines.

Wake up they’re playing you for a sucker.

Michael - I disagree that the utilities could care less. A huge portion of utility CEO compensation is tied to stock performance through stock options and stock awards. So the C suite cares. But yeah, the lawyers on both side like any lawsuit.

Until there is a strategic and effective countermeasure that will serve as a deterrent to these Climate Marxists' and their anti-human agenda the maelstrom of insane lawsuits, deconstruction of human advancement, human shields on roadways, splashing paint on priceless works of art, corporate boycott's, personal cancellation, etc...will not cease. Our society as a whole needs to turn the table on these cretin and that will require efforts not unlike the push to fight "progressive liberalism" and Marxist Communism which, basically, are one and the same.

JB, if you actually knew anything about Marx you'd know he had lots of bones to pick with progressive liberalism. I'd assume you know/use the term 'liberal elite"? Well, if Marx had his way there would be no classes in society.

Seems like the few places that have tried his philosply have failed or grossly modified it (China). I suppose that that at least in the West there are enough government oversight/regulations to tame most of human rights issues he was trying to address in that version of Capitalism with his ideas.

Thank you for writing. I'll have to change my notion of: the only creative way government has to raise revenue is to increase taxes. I'll now have to add: sue businesses. Mandate insidious government regulations that cost more for the consumers and then sue because the mandates can't be met.
