Thank you, Eringer. Especially the historical connection between “Roman statesman Lucius Cincinnatus, who relinquished dictatorial control not once but twice (in 458 BC and 439 BC) in favor of returning to his farm.”
I did not know that and am better informed now having read your article! 😃
Thank you, Mr. Eringer, for your interesting article about our first president, who merits his own holiday restored. I already knew about Washington turning down kingship and a third run at the presidency. But not the Masons. Two thoughts. My recollection of 7/11 goes back to when the little markets first opened, about 1965. I believe it was a reference to their hours of operation -- 7AM to 11PM -- in those days extended hours for such a store. Upon its opening, 7/11 became a hangout for me and my jr high gang of friends.
Coincidentally, in 1965 the prompt for the DAR's annual 8th grade American History Contest? George Washington's Sayings. I wrote about "the citizen soldier" and won the bronze medal for the Los Altos chapter. Still have the medal and the essay, too.
Well written and informative especially and I quote "The secret of Washington’s Revolutionary War victory lay in his mastery of the craft of intelligence, taught to him by French deserters and Native Americans, on whose side he fought for the Brits against France during the French and Indian War.
Thus, early into the war Washington created the Culper Spy Ring for espionage against the redcoats, who had sacked and then occupied New York City."
Since Mr. Edinger has an Intelligence background than maybe he can enlighten us on "Going's On"
here in Santa Barbara involving same.
Since George Washington "Victory lay in his mastery of the craft of intelligence" maybe Mr. Edinger can give us a little background on what is really going down in SB.

Thanks for an intellectually engaging read.
My father was a mason, and my close aunt a member of Eastern Star.
