Here's one more curious question...How is Scott Guttentag, a high school counselor, the 5th top paid person, (he’s not even an administrator) at a rate of $211,000 per year in the district. Almost $40,000 of it, is a stipend. Hmmm, he has worked at DP for 33 years. Maybe he has seen it all, heard it all, and said...??

Unfortunately, a visit to the County Law Library and viewing of the entire shelf dedicated to the California Education Code underscores why school districts need so many "administrators". Always a red flag when teachers union members complain about "administrators", while at the same time funding campaigns for those who write the Calif Education Code.

Equally unfortunate, any past attempt to reform the Calif Ed Code ended in failure. Yet another critical issue when electing those who become the collective "voice of the state". Teachers union members do put a lot of money into political campaigns, in order to influence and choose who writes, signs, protects and enforces the California Education Code.

It seems to me that your article provides enough detailed evidence to accompany a request to the Santa Barbara Grand Jury to investigate these matters, as so many middle and enior management officials appear to have been infected with an infestation of blindness, deafness, inability to speak and to act.

All of this ignorance of sexual crimes against children in their care is quite incredible.

The seriousness of the crimes, the number of them, the apparent blindness of authority and lack of accountability anywhere in the Santa Barbara school system, the judgement that the school system is liable for 80% of taxpayer funded settlements, is public interest enough, it seems, to make the case for the Grand Jury to investigate and report their findings, referrals and recommendations to the legal authorities and the public.

A Civil Grand Jury investigation is worthless in SB County due to collusion among the power brokers. If GJ Findings referred for criminal investigation they will not be released to the public or even those submitting the request for an investigation. Once a case is referred to D.A. Office, it’s DOA. It’s time for all to stop being naive regarding the incestuous bubble of SB County.

It seems to me the corruption goes beyond the school district. Where's the justice system on these cases?

Thank you Christy for your brave expose of what's wrong with SANTA BARBARA SCHOOLS and how they did not away with it. At least the cases we know of . . . Carol in Lompoc

Even if the teachers aren’t molesting the kids, they are being schooled in neo Marxism, DEI, gender confusion, and failing the 3Rs …

Not to mention being taught revisionist history

We ought to support having the tax money for each student in the hands of their parents- otherwise known as school choice. Kryptonite to the teachers unions

Taking back public education from the special interests, and getting value for our guaranteed Prop 98 public education funding stream is another good idea.

Wow, so there is no legal recourse because of this widespread web of corruption among the movers and shakers in Santa Barbara. Whatever can we do, other than write about it all?

Perhaps mass demonstrations could help, but the organizers would likely be arrested. Anyway, apathy among the parents of the students is more likely to prevail.

Maybe, The New York Post would like to report on the story. But that would be only a 24 hour curiosity about the dark side of Santa Barbara.

After Christy Lozano put so much effort into enlightening us, perhaps we should try to suggest ways in which responsive actions could address the issues she identified?

Public Education is overfunded in CA. It’s beyond time to address this fact and cut administrative staffing 75%. The $1.2B County Ed budget ensures ineptness, corruption, malfeasance are rewarded with a new job title, higher pay, bigger pension. At CA State level there are over 4000 employed by Dept of Education who specialize in passing the buck with zero accountability. For the most part, Teachers are not the problem; administrators like David Cash and others are huge problems. Locally, USC and UCSB gift the ‘chosen’ EdDs which are a joke. Stop addressing these folks as ‘Doctor’ but rather as Mr or Ms. Join Taxpayers for Responsible School Spending. 50% of your property taxes are given to our local public schools. There’s simply too much money given to local schools in need of students.

Christy, of the things I really like about you - and perhaps the most important value you would bring to our local government is that you address issues. You don't have to be Conservative, Liberal, Neo-Con, Libertarian or Leftist to care about the issues you address. These are issues that get to everyone's moral core. What I do ask is this: are the sexual assaults undeniably proven with facts? Or is it personal testimony?

Our SB educators seem to have no problem getting rid of faculty members who speak out against the Leftist indoctrination going on in our schools. But of course, abuse is much better than protecting students against brainwashing.

Nothing wrong with posting this info, but I find it strange to include Assistant Principals Yorke and Carson in your chart simply because they moved on to another job at SBCEO. Other AP's at the time moved on to other jobs elsewhere and are not included. As to bringing up Guttentag in the comments, the guy works so much and is always willing to do more for students. He deserves every penny.
