California Democrats are at it again! What’s next, an Oxygen Tax for the air we breathe? How about a Sunshine Tax for the harmful effects from the Sun?
It amazes me the number of ways Democrats can gain access to our wallets! And why not? My hunch is they are panicking about the massive amounts of fraud that will be uncovered by the Trump administration AND the ticking time bomb, Calpers going insolvent. Leaving millions of beneficiaries going broke and without their bloated pensions!
I read this CALI Tax-Everything Article titled "Help Stop the Proposed CA Tax on Driving"

I quote from Mr. Caldwell the key sentence below>
"Currently, we pay the highest gas taxes in America at the pump, over 70 cents per gallon in state taxes, while people in Alaska, for instance, pay 9 cents per gallon."
It is much worse than the Highest Gas Tax it is EVERY Tax CALI force on its Citizens below>

I'm tired of the Republican 'High Road!' Politics is a dirty game - it's time to convince the public that Republicans love them and will 'Tax the Rich' to give them what they want.
Governor Newsom stated he wouldn’t sign such a bill. But he did say he would sign to do a feasibility study. So if he wouldn’t sign such a bill. Why do a study. Probably because the millions of dollars spent for the study. Could be subverted to Democrats politically party groups. Whose efforts would include promoting the Democrats politically party.
Everything you said is so true Andy. The thing that worries me most is what is going to happen to construction cost. All those company vehicles you see driving out there that are building our roads and buildings and taking care of our sewer lines and electrical lines. These companies that have fleets of vehicles will have to increase their prices to reflect these thousands of dollars per year for each vehicle. And of course it’s not just construction, it’s EVERYTHING!!
When will the good people of California wake the hell up?
Take a look at the average chump on the street - if it took brains to breath most of them would drop dead. We need more brutes like Trump instead of Commie 'intellectuals' like the average Democrat legislator.

This tax is plainly ridiculous. We need to hold our leaders in california accountable. some of these politicians if not most are in the epstein files, non have been prosecuted and we’re the ones that’ll get tax for driving? WE NEED TO WAKE UP. OUR GOVERNMENT HATES US.
Your point is well taken and a VMT is crazy. Not only will it hit your personal pocket book hard, the service industry will have to adjust their hourly charge up to cover the additional expense. So a double hit.

Calling Newsome to request he "threaten" a veto would be a waste of time for all of us. The pressure needs to come at the level of Assemblymen. This VMT tax will not discriminate against either Party. It could be that those on the left feel it will put more of a burden on gas-powered vehicles, but guess what? Most of the low income Democrats (recently illegal immgrants) will be impacted the most, taking a bigger percentage bite out of their incomes.
Any idea how this will impact the tourism industry? Californians love to travel up and down and across the State. Family visits? Trips to the beach? Mountains? State and Federal Parks and Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, LegoLand, famous harbors and museums? The list goes on.
The VMT is a VERY BAD idea, no matter how you cut it.
You have to wonder what’s wrong with these people. Is their intent to drive more business & people out of CA? We need responsible business minded people in government!

Good Grief. Why not just tax EVs at their charging stations the same as gas stations do at the pump. And add an extra charge on their registration????
How would they monitor this??? And if they make the roads all toll roads the completion date may be 10 years down the road,just look at our highways and see how long it takes to complete a project.
What has happened to all our other taxes and those that have been found in the Fraud in California? Where is it ? The American people need to know.
