Drip, drip, drip. A leaking faucet will fill a pool in time. Every day the border is open the drip, drip, drip of future Democrat voters will solidify the control of America to the Democrat party.

What came to my mind was the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem under the leadership of Nehemiah. Check out the story. God blessed His people by allowing them to return to Jerusalem and helped them rebuild the walls to defend them.

A country without physical and legal walls not sustainable. The Chinese built quite a wall. Trump built part of one, only to have the physical and legal wall torn down to allow and encourage a foreign invasion of our country. To think this is not purposeful is willful ignorance.

Wonderful, Brent. My own feeling about Robert Frost is that he was, like most poets, better at raising existential questions than giving practical advice. But at least he raised fascinating questions. The Biden administration and its guardians in the media have done nothing but demonize anyone who wants to protect America against invasion, while insisting we get into wars over the boundaries of other countries - to protect them against invasion. This is because our current government sees America and Americans as worthless except in so far as it gives them the opportunity for global power by using it as nothing more than a brand name to exploit.

I read this article by by Brent E. Zepke, Esq. “Legacies of Roads, Walls, and Fences” that should read

“Bombs, Missiles and Nuclear War” and I quote “Roads, walls, and fences, became an important part of the legacy of the poet Robert Frost, and are on a path to achieving the same prominence in the legacy of President Joseph Biden, Jr.”

Not to alarm the good ole folks of Santa Barbara and in particular the SB So-Called-Leaders the United States and it's current Ruling Class Elite are heading into a Nuclear War with Russia which should be a real concern for everything except the problem is with everyone has there proverbial head in the sand if not somewhere else. The US Navy has placed their entire Fleet Ballistic Submarines forces on full alert as has Russia per their recent news release as follows: “Russian nuclear submarine will arrive in Cuba next week. The Cuban Ministry of Defense announced the arrival at the port of Havana on June 12, the submarine Kazan and three military ships - the missile frigate Admiral Gorshkov, the marine tanker "Akademik Pashin" and the rescue tug "Nikolay Chiker".

I spent a good part of my early years On-Board the US Navy Fleet Ballistic Submarines, the SSBN 726 Ohio, the SSBN 727 Michigan and the SSBN 728 Florida and know what I say.

Excellent article and analogies! How different our country would be had Biden found success as a Delaware lawyer!

As an aside, thanks for the morning memory challenge. As 6th graders, we each chose a Frost poem to memorize to recite. Mine Frost’s 1915 the ‘Road Not Taken’ which has had lasting impact on my future life decisions, as I usually choose the less traveled roads. This article’s important, creative messaging, and my ability to still recite most of it, reminded me why I support teaching poetry in our schools and having a City Poet Laureate. Your article won’t be forgotten!

If you are going to “Quote” a Poem that applies to todays Ruling Class Elite and their mad-death-ride to Nuclear Proliferation here is the Poem for today

The Charge of the Light Brigade BY ALFRED, LORD TENNYSON

Half a league, half a league,

Half a league onward,

All in the valley of Death

Rode the six hundred.

“Forward, the Light Brigade!

Charge for the guns!” he said.

Into the valley of Death

Rode the six hundred.

Cannon to right of them,

Cannon to left of them,

Cannon in front of them

Volleyed and thundered;

Stormed at with shot and shell,

Boldly they rode and well,

Into the jaws of Death,

Into the mouth of hell

Rode the six hundred.

Flashed all their sabres bare,

Flashed as they turned in air

Sabring the gunners there,

Charging an army, while

All the world wondered.

Plunged in the battery-smoke

Right through the line they broke;

Cossack and Russian

Reeled from the sabre stroke

Shattered and sundered.

Then they rode back, but not

Not the six hundred.

Cannon to right of them,

Cannon to left of them,

Cannon behind them

Volleyed and thundered;

Stormed at with shot and shell,

While horse and hero fell.

They that had fought so well

Came through the jaws of Death,

Back from the mouth of hell,

All that was left of them,

Left of six hundred.

Secularism, relativism, hyper individualism, and anti clericalism have all been leading to the decline of nations everywhere. Referring to this decline from wokism ignores the fact that this decline in traditions, communities, and morals has been going on for centuries, but in particular the French Revolution.

That societies past have decayed from within in no way weakens my resolve to conserve values that made America great.

Many societies (democracies and republics) have decayed precisely because of the idolization of individual liberty which is present among many contemporary conservatives, additionally few conservatives are willing to oppose the separation of Church and state, despite the fact that it is the Church that upholds many of the values they profess like the right to live, especially for the unborn child. What democracy hasn't given into hedonistic pleasures and removed God form its laws. Their is a song in Spanish called "El Abanderado de Tradicion" and it is being sung by Catholic Monarchists lamenting the decline of Spain with these (translated) lyrics in particular,

"Another monarch usurped the throne. Democracy entered our country, breaking the

foundations of our tradition Democracy entered our country, breaking the foundations of our tradition

From our laws he disappeared from us, And the disunited family remained

Pornography, drugs and corruption, the tyrants believed they won the situation".

Original Lyrics;

"Otro monarca el trono usurpó La democracia en nuestra patria entró, rompiendo los

cimientos de nuestra tradición La democracia en nuestra patria entró, rompiendo los cimientos de nuestra tradición

De nuestras leyes nos desapareció, Y la familia desunida quedó

Pornografía, drogas y corrupción, los tiranos creyeron ganar la situación"

I am sure it is just me, but I find your writing incomprehensible. I am grappling with your first run-on sentence where individual liberty is an object of idolization. Am I supposed to somehow favor subjugation? I posit that the natural state of man is to desire liberty and that it is the goal of Marxism to convince us that it is to desire subjugation to the state. While still traversing the first long sentence I struggle with your words about conservatives not opposing the separation of church and state yet still holding biblical values regarding the rights of the unborn child. To be clear, to oppose a state sanctioned religion is what it means to separate church and state. It does not mean that I cannot hold values consistent to my faith. Overall, I find your response to be a word salad worthy of the great Kamala Harris.

Too many contemporary conservatives jump to labeling anything they disapprove of with any form leninist ideology, and honestly conservatism is a failed movement. It's conserved nothing since it's inception anywhere.

Abortion is rampant in the industrialized world, pornography is easily accessible to children, drug use is promoted, the family as an institution has been attacked and crippled everywhere, what have conservatives done do safeguard anything but "free"markets and individual "rights". Conservatives either do nothing when they are in power out of fear, or indifference.

Traditionalism > Conservatism

Too many conservatives are hyper focused in individuals liberty, it is often the idolization of this liberty that leads to the promotion of homosexuality, abortion, drug use, etc. I never advocated for you to be "subjugated" but too many conservatives focus on individual rights but not collective responsibility. I am also anything but a Marxist, I'm a Carlist.

It is the separation of Church and state that has allowed for abortion to take place over time, so long as thr Catholic Chruch holds little influence over our government it can do little to prevalent degeneracy and moral decay. Heck even in traditionally Catholic nations, governments have given into secular and liberal values.

I would hardly call what I wrote a word salad typical of Kamala Harris, I lack her cackling and her use of leftist buzzwords.

Can we include the cost of all illegal activity in the US economy in a balanced approach? How would that be done? And why?

Expand full comment

Illegal immigration specifically.

Why? To understand the net fiscal drain this situation produces on the US economy, which is easily measurable by comparing the amount these illegal immigrants receive in programs/aid to the taxes that they pay.

bad source…”The Cost of Illegal Immigration to Taxpayers”, Center for Immigration Studies, 2024.

this source states that some 2.7 million inadmissible aliens have been released into the country by the administration + 1.5 million “got-aways” since January 2021…other more credible sources show estimates of 3, 4, or 5 times that estimate…

further, this source estimates that the illegal immigrant population grew to 12.8 million by October of 2023…more credibly sources estimate the total illegal immigrant population at over 30 million (odd that our government has been stating the same 11 million number for 20+ years)…

It's incredibly odd given the constant influx into our country despite the fact that none of these migrants go back to aid their own nations.

'Migrants" role aiding their own country is often sending untaxed billions of US dollars back to their home country, which means those same billions of dollars do not recirculate in the US economy.

At one time remittences from Mexican citizens residing in the US was the second largest revenue stream in the Mexican economy. Maybe it still is. Restrict this one element, and you take a huge incentive out of illegal border crossing.

I hate, well actually I don't, being the fact checker on the Current. But Mr. Esq can you provide the source for “U.S. health care system is systemically racist” by Pete B? I couldn't find it. But thats not to say it's not out there or you weren't in the room with him. If you'd like I could discuss how you totally misinterpreted that poem. But I'm guessing you knew that. Frost did not say "Good fences make good neighbors." His neighbor did. Frost was more ambivalent on the need for fences. Read the entire poem.

The author conveniently fails to add that the secret service regularly provides security enhancements, including walls & fences to the private residences of presidents, as well as former presidents.

In fact, the cost of the Biden wall is less than the cost of another Department of Homeland Security contract awarded "to provide Mar-a-Lago" — former president Donald Trump's private residence — "with a physical security build-out upgrade." The price tag on that project, which began AFTER Trump left office, was $580,600. The above improvements may indeed be put to use if he is sentenced to house arrest in the coming weeks!

Perhaps the author might better strive in future articles to provide a more balanced perspective.

Peter Scott, really? Do you fail to see the significance in the fact that Trump believes that walls work for everyone while Biden apparently thinks they only work for him. Since you fancy yourself to be one clever little shit, can you explain how open borders are good for America

Sorry Jeff, I don't see how Peter is being a little shit and saying open borders are good for America in his post. He just seems to be pointing out that Trump spent our money on a wall for his home too. But I do get your point that that Biden thinks a wall will help his house - but he's not a fan of border walls. I really don't know if physical walls are better than drones are better than what as far as the boarder. I just feel both sides have had a chance to do something an everyone kicks the immigration can down the road. Why build a wall when you could just have huge fines for hiring undocumented immigrants? My guess is both sides like cheap labor.
