The word emergency means different things to different people. To those who seek political power an emergency is an opportunity to gain power that would not otherwise be granted. According to this understanding, the covid emergency was handled effectively and allowed expanded government power to spend money, regulate the behavior of its subjects, to censor inconvenient speech, transfer wealth and change election law to favor the party in power. To the authors of the Barrington Declaration, it was an opportunity to put forth a set of recommendations based on experience in controlling infectious disease. Read the Barrington Declaration today and it rings true. Read the recommendations of the CDC and they were all wrong. Yet our government and the WHO seek to expand their censorship powers in the name of public health to prevent dangerous misinformation. In retrospect we know that the very powers that would police our speech were the ones spreading misinformation. But if this is viewed not as a public health measure but as a power consolidation then it all makes sense. The WHO does not care about your health. The CDC does not care about your health. The US government does not care about your health. They do care very much about maintaining and expanding their power over you.

George Orwell writing in 1943…

"I saw newspaper reports which did not bear any relation to the facts, not even the relationship which is implied in an ordinary lie. I saw great battles reported where there had been no fighting, and complete silence where hundreds of men had been killed. I saw troops who had fought bravely denounced as cowards and traitors, and others who had never seen a shot fired hailed as the heroes of imaginary victories; and I saw newspapers in London retailing these lies and eager intellectuals building emotional superstructures over events that had never happened. I saw, in fact, history being written not in terms of what happened but of what ought to have happened according to various 'party lines.'"

The World is connected & people are waking en masse…

Earlier this week, huge numbers of Japanese citizens took to the streets to protest against the crimes against humanity perpetrated by globalist organizations such by World Health Organization (WHO) and World Economic Forum (WEF) during the pandemic. During an opening speech at the protests, Haraguchi delivered a powerful and emotional apology for the huge numbers of deaths now occurring as a result of the deadly mRNA roll-out…

Haraguchi began by addressing the grief and loss felt by families who have lost loved ones who were coerced into taking the COVID jab. With a deep sense of sincerity, he extended his condolences and took responsibility for the failings of those in power. “I apologize to all of you. So many have died, and they shouldn’t have,” he said.

This is spot on. What boggles my mind is that I know doctors in SB who will not see unvaxed patients, even now. The willingness of most in the the medical profession to accept all guidelines from the FDA, medical boards and professional publications has been shown to have disastrous consequences. People need to use the brain God gave them to question health care advice and “do your own research.” This may result in you taking some correct, or incorrect, ideas in to your doctor for their review. This is preferable to doing everything you are told by a doctor who is in lockstep with a system owned by big pharma. The loss of faith in the medical profession has been a self inflicted wound.

Most drug studies that meet FDA requirement are short-term and observe only a pre-determined list of side-effects within a carefully selected group of patients with few to no confounding variables.

The FDA criteria for proof of effectiveness is very thin, particularly when a drug is recommended for long term use. Few people if ever over the age of 65 are included in the studies due to their confounding pre-morbidities. Often they are skewed by sex as well, since woman are allegedly too complicated due to their "fluctuating hormones" to be valid study subjects.

Few new drugs are ever compared long-term to placebos to determine if they are even effective, rather than just tweaking some substitute surrogate metric that becomes an unproven stand-in for an actual disease or condition.

Pays to track down the actual footnoted studies in any drug information pamphlet - you can research these online on the National Library of Medicine search engine PubMed or get help from the Cottage Hospital Medical Library.

A complex issue with multiple perspectives regarding each of the many issues. Good discussion happening here. How to proceed? Critical thinking? This used to be taught in high schools and colleges.

a. Don’t immediately believe anything or anyone including me.

b. View this as an opportunity to get some basic medical education. You might start with learning about your immune system and then learn about such topics as “Evidence based medicine “ vs “Observational based “ Studies.

c. Armed with the above you might then take a stab at “Do masks really work? I. e . Try to stick to the topic and pay less time and attention to “ the messenger”

d. Ignore the next sentence. (opinion). I believe that if you do your homework you might feel, as I do, that many in the medical profession have abandoned their patients and have opted for job security.

e. Ask your physician for a study/reading list that is informative and that might vary from “the narrative”. If not helpful, I can make some suggestions.

f. Be aware that Fauci is testifying tomorrow. Be aware of the Great Barrington Declaration. Be aware of Missouri vs Murthy, a case before the Supreme Court.

Above all else, put in the work to study the issues then form an opinion. Then interact with those who have opposing viewpoints as you try to advance your understanding.

It’s not easy but pursuing the truth in life is never easy. The basic truth as you get older is that you sadly become aware that the more you learn the less about life you really know.

(I am a retired radiologist and am saddened by what has happened and is continuing to happen). All of this has happened “on my watch “.

It's so sad to me is that so many people don't understand the philosophy of science. Any fact of science can be overturned with proof, and any scientist understands this. We know what we know until we know something better. How many thousands of operations and operating rooms have been done without infection because the the surgeon wears a mask.

Masking absolutely works when done correctly. I would agree to several of Andy's points, but this one is so frustrating because it so wrong.

This is indicative of The misinformation that has been spread to weaken our country by Russian propagandists. If everybody masked up and washed hands frequently, contagions would be minimal. Masks don't prevent surgeons from spitting in your wounds, they prevent droplets from moist breath carrying pathogens from getting into vulnerable parts of the body.

I agree that things were not handled properly, but I think we can take those lessons and come out better. But a big piece of that is to stop spreading falsehoods just because they line up with your viewpoints.

Justin ,You miss the transmission sequence entirely. That is, sticking your own contaminated hands into your own nose, mouth and/or eyes.

Masks did prevent people temporarily from sticking their own dirty fingers into their noses. But then so do good manners.

Washing hands also helps prevent this critical self-contamination route of later sticking dirty fingers into your own mouth, nose and/or eyes. When dealing with Upper Respiratory Infections (URI), which was allegedly "covid". Always good practice, election years or not.

Yes, you are missing the supporting data that defines this alleged "benefit". "protective efficacy" is a meaningless term. Did they actually stop disease transmission or not? Or did they show some potentially infectious droplets were captured. Ask more from a study than just their carefully parsed semantics.

This may be good enough for you, but not for the wholesale mandates inflicted around the globe. With the massive disposables, this mask mandate created. For "protective efficacy"? You can read into that anything you want.

I see it as an evasion of what was intended to be tested - did masks actually prevent infectious disease transmission? The study did not address that, or used weasel words to get around this. I will agree with Fauci's recent statement, it is pretty hard to prove any of this.
