(Our plan was the hope that letters would be handled via the “Comments” section after each featured SBCurrent article, but something tells us that the over 100 comments my last piece (Purely Political: It’s the Women, Stupid! ) received [including a half dozen responses from me] was too much to cover. Instead, the new plan is to pluck a few treasured missives, along with my comments when and if required, every other week and feature them in a “Letters to the Editor” column.)
President Trump is Already Married
The women I know who want Donald Trump to be president get something the Joy Behars and Whoopie Goldbergs seem not to: if he didn't have a narcissistic, overly alpha, crude, and rude side, he would never have survived the last eight years. Sure, he annoys me, but I'm not going to marry him. I want Trump running this country because he will defend us to his last breath.
Look, I've met male First Responders who are too Alpha, but who else is going to risk his life dangling from a helicopter or running through a blaze not only to save men, women, and children, but also their pets? Liberal women in this country are so stupidly upset by Alpha Males that they're sabotaging their own daughters' well-being.
Mothers, what would you rather have for your daughters: a guy who's so sensitive he tries to reason with a thief stealing her purse - or a guy who flattens the jerk?

Not the “Greatest,” but Better than the Other Guy
President Trump’s record is mixed. Yes, he has some significant foreign policy achievements (Abraham Accords negotiated by his son-in-law), and his economic/tax policies were pretty good (first two years). On the other hand, he was a big spender, refused to do anything with our out-of-control entitlement spending, stupidly tried to get the Federal Reserve to take interest rates below zero. His handling of Covid was not good. Relied on Fauci and his minions far too much. Berated states like Florida and Georgia for opening up earlier than he wanted. Besides giving billions of dollars to states to subsidize their lockdown policies, he also gave them the money to fund universal mail-in balloting and other election rules chicanery.

(Editor’s note: You are correct, Lou, but the former president did so many, many things right. I, for one, will sleep soundly knowing he and his team were back at the helm. When I think about the idiots Mr. Biden has given responsible positions to: Clueless and useless Alejandro Mayorkas at DHS, trans-something-or-other “Rachel” Levine at HHS, the ridiculous Sam Brinton at the Dept. of Energy [the bald-headed court jester put in charge of nuclear waste caught stealing women’s clothing from airport luggage retrieval racks], the incapable and unskilled Secretary of “Transportation” Pete Buttigieg, and so many more ineffectual fools whose only qualifications are that they are among the “protected” classes embraced by the Democrat-institutionalized regime of Identity Politics. – J.B.)
Now We Do Know
“Mr. Wonderful” of TV’s “Shark Tank” recently stated that the City Council of San Francisco took a full decade to destroy that city.
So, terrible national conventions want to have nothing to do with the economic decay in Frisco. Major name-brand stores have or are leaving as fast as they can.
Sound familiar Santa Barbara?
The City Council of Santa Barbara accelerated the decay of Old Town Santa Barbara, now called Death Valley by locals.
How long did it take? A short five years. How did they do it? Simple: by replicating the failures of San Francisco and the company known as MIG. You know MIG. Santa Barbara’s City Council gave them a great contract. The same MIG that convinced anti-car groups including Dave Davis to take away 50% of the street capacity and all its parking. The chant is “It isn't big enough and when it goes all the way down to the wharf it will work.”
Really?
Now the same Council has decided they put too much effort into the destruction of the city core and are spending more of your tax money for what has proven to fail.
That, folks, is stupidity.
But wait! The Santa Barbara Council has a college instructor, a bar-admitted attorney, failed Planning Commissioner, two defenders of "La Raza," and a supposed defender of businesses, so how can this possibly happen?
You figure it out. You voted for them.
Business are fleeing Santa Barbara. Professionals are shutting down shop for “Noleta” and other free streets and parking.
When this Council was challenged by CAB to prove their efforts have worked, the answer was deafening silence. A Silence that is so profound it is like a sonic boom from Vandenberg.
Where is the TV news demanding answers? Where is what is left, of paper rags demanding answers? Where is Noozhawk, Edhat, and other electronic news outlets demanding answers?
For example, one of the last news articles from the News-Press asked these questions. The reporter asked why the City Council of Santa Barbara refused to answer direct and important questions by Cars Are Basic, the answer, (by who you elected) was not to answer.
Mr. Wonderful is absolutely correct. Terrible social policy and destruction of critical transportation grids killed Frisco in a decade. The Santa Barbara Council did it to Santa Barbara in half that time (5 years for challenged readers).
Please feel free to pass this on to elected people, business owners, the
Chamber of Commerce, and other cities. CAB stands willing and able to
engage.
Scott Wenz,
President CAB (Cars Are Basic)
(Editor’s note: Mr. Wenz wrote in response to Bonnie Donovan’s “Did You Know” column on the State Street fiasco. The CAB monthly meeting is held at noon on the last Wednesday of the month at the Elks Lodge in Goleta. – J.B.)
Polly, you sure DID nail it! Bravo! CJC
Polly Frost has it right!
The thing that makes me wonder is that there is an audience for The View!
These are Women?
They seem like the most unhinged and unhappy people I have ever seen.
