Markets just closed for Thursday. CNBC reports with glee that the Dow Jones surrendered a "big chunk" of Wednesday's gains. They could've said that the two-day gain in the Dow netted investors a 1,948-point surge in value. Both assessments are correct, but the media always aims to reduce the psychological edge that any good news may provide to Donald Trump.
Congratulations to Mr. Shallhoob for sounding the alarm regarding local inaction by our elected officials. Clearly, the BOS and respective City Councils have taxpaying property and business owners as being way down on their priority list. Ironic, given we pay the majority of taxes paid to city and county coffers. Typically, those representing the homeless, illegal migrants, renter unions, bike lobbyists, environmentalists, LGBTQ activists and public unions seem to get the majority of our elected officials attention.
Enough already!
Our Congressman, Salud Carbajal has recently made a series of videos posted on social media. Repeatedly, I have asked him “what are you doing for homeowners, small business owners and taxpayers?”
Pull up chair, or maybe even put in some tent stakes because, if you're waiting for Garbajal (yes, Garbajal...Garbage-jal), you'll be waiting a while. The only thing he knows how to do is waste our money, time, and resources.
Re Jerry Shalhoob: You're right, Jerry, Bonnie Donovan is a local treasure. There's another thing your own wonderful business does which is respect your customers and listen to them. Our City Council Members show zero respect in that regard.
Re: Harold J. Baer: The Democrats aren't just ignoring their duty to stop violence, they're calling for violence against Trump and Musk and in the most disgusting way. James Carville says that Trump supporters shouldn't be treated like Nazi collaborators were, but *could* be treated that way. Gee, Carville, what a noble distinction.
Re: Jeff Barton: Beautiful. My question: have you ever had a near-death experience? It's wonderful - provided you survive and get good therapy for PTSD :-). But it does put everything in perspective. Before I had a near-death experience I thought facing my own mortality would make me regret things I'd done badly, or not done well enough. But no. All I feel every moment, even the most annoying or boring moments is Wow! I'm alive! Fantastic!
Re: J. Livingston: Long-term thinking is not a part of TDS. The people I know who have TDS don't care about long-term finance, or long-term progress of any sort or long-term relationships and are willing to sacrifice everything to maintain the one long-term thing that holds them together - their hatred of Trump.
As usual you nailed it, especially with regard to the incompetence and denial with people who have TDS. It is, sadly, a real mental disorder. Sometimes I actually feel bad for these people.
I guess you haven’t heard TDS is what maga republicans are infected with. That’s why they act the way they do. It’s in the first two words “trump derangement”. You’re right it’s a real mental disorder and we do feel sorry for the maga republicans that are infected as there doesn’t seem to be a cure. The maga’s believe every dangerous lie and comment trump and his administration spew, they take it as gospel, without question.
Hey now, Julia, I have always been very respectful with you, even though we had some words a few months back. I have refrained from commenting negatively in response to some of your comments, even though I felt they were disrespectful to others. Please share the same respect with me and avoid being snarky when I'm not even speaking with you. I don't appreciate your response and you know full well that TDS does not refer to Republicans, regardless of how conservative they are. You know that the term TDS is the opposite.
"A bill was recently introduced to the Minnesota legislature to categorize 'Trump derangement syndrome' as a mental illness. The proposed bill defines the syndrome as characterised by 'verbal expressions of intense hostility toward' Donald Trump and 'overt acts of aggression and violence against anyone supporting [Trump] or anything that symbolizes [Trump].'”
I don't know if I actually even support this bill. I think there is enough hostility in the political warfare we have had going on for the past decade that I don't believe adding a mental disorder to the DSM-5-TR is beneficial to either party or any human being.
But Julia, it has to start with us. We are clearly on opposite sides, but we can still treat each other with respect even though we don't agree with one another. I hope you feel the same way and, if not, we can still agree to disagree.
No didrespect intended. I was expressing my right to free speech. Is this not allowed here any longer? I didn’t curse which I don’t normally do anyway. What you call snarky I call sarcasm or humor, although not a lot of people get my humor. magas don’t seem to have a sense of humor. Also, I do distinguish between maga republicans and conservatives Republicans, the GOP. Remember, when they were the grand old party? Well, Maga killed it off.
If I offend anyone they’re welcome to let me know. I don’t mean when I disagree with someone, that’s not offensive that’s just a difference of opinion. I do agree to disagree.
I know about the legislation in Minnesota. I couldn’t believe it when I first heard it on the news. In fact, there’s a lot of politicians, trying to get their bills passed with regards to some of trumps ridiculous ideas, to get in trumps good graces trying to gain favor. If, by some reason it passes, can you imagine the court cases? There would be so many defamation and slander cases in the courts that they wouldn’t be able to take care of real legal cases. Do you think insurance companies would cover this?
Do you remember the word “Woke”? It started out as a very positive word meaning you were informed and you knew what you were talking about and what was going on in the world. Remember, when the magas and Fox Entertainment gave it a completely different meaning? Well, turnabout is fair play, don’t you agree! So to me someone with TDS means they are in trumps cult of Irrational thinking and actions.
Thank you Mrs. D. You are right, it is a real mental disorder. I'm not as good a person as you are, though, because I only feel sorry for myself for having to del with them.
You mean “locked up” like in your 5150/Lefty crew? Yep, totally unhinged bc Doge has exposed what grifters the left is! Now y’all are all butt-hurt cuz you got busted and the jig is up!
Mr. Buckley, are you saying that God is on our side? I'm gun-shy of attributing celestial intervention in terrestrial matters. Who's responsible for the 45% give-back today? The Lord's mysterious ways often come with a lot of twists and turns we're not aware of except down the road in retrospect. Life and religion overtime has taught me that God is in His heavens, all is right with the world - in "good" times as well as "bad" times.
Well what's so good about Wall Street? What has it done other than serve mammon? Has Wall Street created a more moral and just society? Or does it simply fill the coffers of the elites whilr producing nothing of value.
Harry Baer doesn’t seem to be pleased that the Democrats are not speaking out about poor Elon and his Teslas and the violence against them. So he would like for all these people causing violence to Elon and his Teslas be rounded up, arrested, tried, convicted and sentenced?
Why? They did that with the violencec caused by the January 6, 2021 insurrectionists, what good did that do? Will Trump come in and just wipe all that out and release them and pardon them? Probably not since those perks are only for magas not Democrats. So like I said, it would be a waste of time.
When you mentioned in Bonnie's article about the "number of 'days off' council members enjoy," reminds me of a lot of past observations of some engineers. I made it a work hobby of observing engineers in the area of (1) making progress or lack of any progress, (2) the level of enthusiasm, (3) the display of self-importance vs. actual work results performed and so on and so forth. One thought that entered my mind during my observations was what appeared at times the possibility of an innate human property ... and that is doing as little as possible to just get by.
I have to hand it to many city workers to take in the maximum amount of pay with the least amount of work. City political hacks compared to any other workers I've observed are a sort of minimalists. I understand why they frustrate me because I feel I'm opposite, wanting to do the best I can no matter what I'm paid. Very different mindset involved between "them" and us. I very much believe why the do-little-as-possible Dems are flustered with Trump is because of what I call the "Trump Dynamic." Dems in DC have never experienced a high-level go-getter such as Trump, a successful businessman. Trump is the solo-guy getting things done while the Dems sit in committees getting nothing done. Someone like Bernie Sanders, a truly empty vessel, has to be incredibly intimidated by the Trump/Musk go-getters. Bernie can't stand to compare himself against achievers, the achievers make him feel worthless. Bernie backs the non-achievers such as himself, the innate non-performers out there.
Bill, speaking of days off, were you aware that the number of days trump has been in office, 1/3 of those days have been spent on the golf course, love how he works so hard for us. Everyone loves the economy and they are over joyed about the stock market.
Keep in mind Julia, especially presuming you might be a creative type like Trump, it doesn't matter where he thinks up stuff. When I worked at Litton Aero Products, I worked at home except for Fridays ... picked up my paycheck and I liked to let others know I was still alive. My company didn't care where I physically worked as long as I was cranking out circuits. The VP of engineering figured I was getting three times the amount of work done at home. Where you work means absolutely nothing, unless you happen to have to be flipping burgers at McDonald's for a living. Someone with a "brain job" is another story. I doubled my salary at Litton Aero Products in five years, plus got a few "toys" for hanging around.
One other note, Bill Foley which I believe is still a resident of Hope Ranch, works out business dealings on the golf course. His net worth is now $2.7B, started bigtime by receiving a company (Fidelity National Title) for payment of his legal services. Tell your kids to be a lawyer.
Bill, Why do you assume they’re not? FYI, don’t worry about trump not getting days off to relax. He also has time to attend UFC events. He knows what’s important to him. Oh, he’s also working on that shower head low flow problem. Once he fixes those showerheads, our economy will be great and inflation will be down. He shouldn’t be saying America first, with him. It’s trump first.
LOL, Julia about the showerheads. What your concern should be is how Trump is going to have America make all the parts for things that China is producing. Now there's a good question I'd like to have an answer to. Don't you find it interesting for decades China, and enemy, has produced about everything we use in our daily lives? China loves our dependency on them. Better stock up on appliances, such as washers and dryers. Home Depot limits the purchase of two of the same appliances per person. It will soon be the manufacture of wash boards and the use of clotheslines for drying. Oh darn, the rope for the clothesline is made in China!
The Fed employees seem to operate as if they were working in a bank. The Fed money needs to be separated from the workers as much as possible ... starting with a dedicated building which controls the money supply.
Harv, been hitting the sauce again? Inspired by Harris? Shouldn’t drink and post. When you read this stuff in the morning you may be embarrassed. From this day forth I will call you Harvey Wallbanger.
Amazing what a moron you are Harv. Seriously, you are a Teacher? With our kids? No wonder our kids are hurting so bad, ya having an ideological wack job like you…what could go wrong?
You don’t know me or my kids, idiot. Seriously, does the parents of your students know what an unhinged pervert you come off as? SBUSD know? Oh that’s right, they promote and give cover to loser trash like you.

Re: Jerry Shalhoob’s counter to News Media’s distortion of facts.
What a breath of fresh air among the never ending smokescreen of Big News Media’s prejudiced blather.
Thanks a bunch! Buddy 👍
Thank you Joan, for your intelligent, insightful comments,
J. Livingston continues to be a local treasure with her honesty, wit and brilliance!

Aren’t treasures meant to be kept on the shelf behind glass, or under lock and key? Asking for a friend.
Jules,

David,
Well, it has more to do with "God" avoiding the complete disaster Kamala would have been than supporting Trump. That's working in "mysterious" ways.
...More like "miraculous" ways!
"The Left vilifies Wall Street and “corporations”
