We need to reform the CAGOP to a party to one that has a least a fighting chance at winning local and statewide elections. We need to show local power by defeating some of the perennial tax increases for example the City of Santa Barbara new sales tax increase proposal and the SBCC new bond proposals.

As you said, at one time this would be such a normal thing to do but now -a -days one is not sure if the reaction would lead to a very bad ending. I would offer that by and large the Democrats are a big government party believing that the government, over the citizenry itself, are the ultimate authority while the Republican (unfortunately a good portion of the elected reps are RINO's) believe in smaller government and less bureaucracy,

Excellent article and so, so true about not bringing up the subject of the assassination attempt to someone you may not be aligned with politically . As you said, at one time this would be such a normal thing to do but now -a -days one is not sure if the reaction would lead to a very bad ending. As with the example of the Palestinian and Israeli children, perhaps one day we can unite as well.
It is a lot easier to write in support of Trump than to espouse his virtues among strangers. You failed on shipboard but are now resolute to openly support Trump. I am not being critical because I too have failed to speak up to others who are trashing the great Donald Trump. It is difficult here in Santa Barbara where we are outnumbered at least three-to-one. I have had some heated discussions with my neighbors on the subject and I go away asking myself if it was worth it. I will not change their minds and now I have to endure sidesway glances and rolling eyes. It is true that the successful media campaign to create hatred of Trump extends to Trump supporters. So, to voice support of Trump will now invoke personal animus toward me. This is the point of making it personal, to make us fearful to support our candidate. My takeaway of the assassination attempt is that if Trump can be brave after escaping death by 1/4 inch., I can endure rolling eyes, sideways glances and maybe even a vandalized Trump flag or perhaps a bloody nose and openly support the beautiful and great Donald John Trump.

Six, seven dollars a gallon to $5 give or take in CA. That's supposed to be good? Biden drove inflation through the roof and we have to get excited it came down from Mount Everest to Mount Whitney? I am again in the minority here. Many of us don’t agree, though and I think it’s important to let everyone know that there’s not universal agreement.. Many of us would welcome a good conservative candidate to vote for. Trumps performance both as a businessman, husband, president and just as a person removes him from contention. Call it TDS if you like, but the whole package is pretty bad. The VP choice just made it worse too.
Weird. I see an amazing family raised by him; professional, well adjusted, well educated, well spoken. They don’t drink, do drugs, or get into trouble. They dress professionally at all times. I think that says a lot about a man and a father. Whether he’s ever cheated on his wife or not is no one’s business but theirs. His businesses are successful. He adds value to the communities he lives in and does work in. He was a great president and hopefully will get another whack at it. Maybe this time he’ll send Hillary and her bad of criminal friends to prison.

Andy, you do not care for authentic conservative values. You want some old guard republican that the democrats can easily destroy, and will cave into secular and liberal pressures. Trump despite his flaws energized an ailing conservative movement and it was his presidency that aided many people (myself included) into accepting traditional and conservative beliefs where we had once been "centrists" or "liberals".

You are not voting for prom queen here; his personality has nothing to do with what his policy will do for this country. The fact that Clinton probed a 21-year old's feminine recess with a Premiere Robusto has not soiled the reputation of the Clintons and their money laundering foundation yet the fact that Trump may or may not have had sex with a sex worker is apparently cause for derision. You need to divorce yourself from the Alinskyesque character assassination of Trump and just look at policy. Do you support open borders? Do you support student loan forgiveness? Do you support a wealth tax? Do you support gun confiscation? Reparations? Men competing in women's sports? Tranny story hour for children? The sexualization of children? Expanded welfare state?
