Lately, there has been a ton of garbage written in the Independent, Edhat, Noozhawk, and other media sources regarding the deportation efforts in Santa Barbara. The amount of hysteria and gaslighting by these publications is off the charts. And if that wasn’t bad enough, you then have myriad posters on the neighborhood website Nextdoor spewing nonsense as if they were experts regarding immigration law, which they are decidedly not.
If you are in the echo chamber and all you read are these biased outlets, you would by now believe that federal officers are Nazi goons in disguise, kidnapping innocent people off the streets and from their homes willy-nilly. Of course, this couldn’t be further from the truth, but that would require some degree of knowledge as to what is really going on, with which these publications can’t be bothered.
First, a sizeable percentage of the illegal aliens detained have criminal records, though many armchair critics in Santa Barbara would have you believe otherwise.
Second, no one is being taken from their homes; that would require having a judicial warrant, a cumbersome and total impractical law enforcement tool if the goal is to deport most of the illegal aliens with criminal records. Of course, California sanctuary laws make this exceedingly difficult, since that “sanctuary” status demands that the county and/or local police are forbidden to transfer these people from our jails to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) jurisdiction.
Third, if you came here with an asylum claim – even though many of them are spurious and were granted by the Biden Administration without merit – you are not being detained nor deported before you have a hearing, which is your right. However, if you don’t show up for your hearing or lose your case, don’t be surprised if you are taken off the streets and summarily deported.
Lastly, if you overstayed your visa, or crossed the border illegally, or even worse, you already had been deported and came back here illegally, you are going to be sent back to wherever you came from.
Living in a Claptrap Bubble
I don’t get why someone who illegally crossed the border and managed to do so without being apprehended thinks they have a right to stay here and feels they can thumb their nose at law enforcement. I fully understand why they may not want to go back to their country of origin, but it is increasingly difficult to understand why many privileged, sanctimonious, and brain-damaged residents, think it is perfectly okay to impede law enforcement and, in some cases, even violently resist them.
I am amazed when some of the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in Santa Barbara that preach and support “active resistance,” are surprised when their followers or other non-thinking nitwits get pepper sprayed or manhandled while actively attempting to impede ICE from doing its job. I would tell the people on Nextdoor, who are constantly bitching about this, to try to guess what would happen to them if they were stopped by a policeman for a traffic violation and refused to comply with the officer’s demands.
Just to be clear, these Santa Barbara non-profit organizations (the most vociferous one is the 805 Undocufund) recently received $355,000 from the city of Santa Barbara, as voted on by the city council. The only dissenting vote was Mayor Randy Rouse. In effect, our city leaders are funding organizations that have all but declared that illegal immigrants who commit serious crimes should be free to remain in the U.S. In a spasm of virtue signaling, our craven city councilmembers are bending the knee to these groups.
The Santa Barbara City Council is, in effect, frivolously squandering taxpayer dollars while simultaneously revealing a $7.4 million deficit in the FY2025 budget.
I know it might be tedious to actually know something about immigration law because that would require you actually did some research rather than mouthing off like an uninformed ill-mannered fool, but increasingly we are living in absurd times where all kinds of nonsensical drivel is routinely believed by people who turn off their brains after reading their favorite media hogwash dispenser.
Stupid Is As Stupid Does
Finally, why is it I never hear from the critics about the horrifying cases of Sarah Root, Grayson Davis, David Lee, Ivory Smith, Robert Boles, Laken Riley, Jocelyn Nungaray, Kate Steinle, Mollie Tibbetts and the countless others who suffered the worst fate at the hands of an illegal immigrant. Right here at home, I am still haunted by the disgusting and grisly murder of Marilyn Pharis by a deranged illegal immigrant, who did things to her that defy comprehension.
I wish we lived in different times, but I understand politics is not going to change and the people who are committed to indiscriminately resisting everything that is happening under this Administration will never be satisfied until their opposition is totally vanquished. I am reminded what the great American storyteller, Mark Twain, once said, “Never argue with stupid people. They will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.”

The 2016 elections were preceded by the Michael Brown shooting (2014 Suicide by Cop) and the subsequent BLM rioting in multiple cities, causing multiple deaths and billions in damages. Massive fraud committed by BLM leadership.
The 2020 elections preceded by the COVID disaster, made much worse by failed, draconian Democratic policies.
The 2024 elections were preceded by “Free Palestine” and Transgender demonstrators, characterized by student takeovers, demonstrations, sit-in’s, Antifa riots with arson and mayhem. Transgender insanity resulting in mass shootings in schools, churches and assassinations of Charlie Kirk and two thwarted attempts on the President.
The 2026 elections now preceded by riots against ICE and Immigration enforcement, resulting in mass demonstrations, shootings, mass mayhem. The intensity of anti ICE activity really seemed to ramp up once the revelations were made about massive Somali fraud being investigated, resulting in billions of tax dollars.
The obvious connection between social mayhem, elections and the unhinged, Democratic Party is undeniable. Clearly, Dem operatives gin up unrest and sedition whenever Conservatives are in power, in an effort to deflect and distract from their truly miserable and criminal governance.
