Calla, thank you for your shared reminiscences, for both their unique experiences and insights into their time and locales. As a child growing up during the same era in Bay Area California, it was easy to believe "back east" was where life was real life, since so much in entertainment at that time revolved around NYC, and our American history started in New England.

Only conclusion for me to reach in the second grade was we were living in second rate backwaters. The most vivid sense of this geographical dislocation came when learning to read in the second grade using the Dick and Jane See Spot Run series. Dick and Jane talked about white picket fences, buttercups in open flelds, salamanders in the creeks, and leaves changing colors in the fall. Obviously none of that related to our lives in the far flung West. So obviously, we were living in the wrong place which was the only conclusion I could reach at age seven.

Many decades later I saw an article in National Geographic about Martha's Vineyard, and the author declared she too had finally found where Dick and Jane actually lived and frolicked with their dog Spot. It had to be Martha's Vineyard at that time, where these real lives were lived by these real children in that early reader book. Which also sounds like it could easily be traded for where you spent your own real childhood New England summers too.

Dick and Jane would probably nonogenarians now, and Spot has long passed. Perhaps they would also be hard pressed to free range in creeks, pick buttercups and romp in the falling leaves today .....back East. Surprisingly California is now the place to be ....out West, if Gavin Newsom does not finally push the entire state off the cliff in short order.

I grew up going to Nantucket, great piece of American history.

Democrat Parry shows its values

1. Votes against every civil rights and women’s rights in history

2. Denigrate, demean women with biological males who still have penis’s in their sports, locker rooms & bathrooms

3. Value people who break immigration laws over homeless Citizens and support those who break our laws with billions of tax payer monies each year

4. Take advantage of that class of unskilled illegal labor by saying “we need illegal labor to perform the demeaning, laborious jobs that Americans do not want to do fir less money than a Citizen would require” Indentured servants

5. Democratic run schools have the lowest academics in the country for minority children Nelson Mandela said you can tell a lot of a society by the way they treat their children. Democrats choose to not educate minorities

6. Democratic Party has pushed and supported a violent war in Ukraine with no clear objective or resolution . Not 8n the best interest of the thousands upon thousands of Ukrainians who have died in battle

7. Democrats lose billions of tax payer money

8. They enter office broke and leave as multi millionaires

9. They vote for 48% increase in wages while Americans are homeless and suffer food insecurity

10. They say there’s no money to fight illegal street vendors, showing they do not support law abiding businesses

11. They verbally attack the voter if the voter does not agree with their position, instead of finding middle ground and explaining their position

12. Their campaigns are based upon calling the opposition names with no substance and no original ideas how to run a county, city or country

13. Bail out violent protestors from BLM riots and Pro Hamas riots while persecuting those from Jan 6 that dude not set one fire or kill one person. It’s 2025, Democrats time first you to actually read what happened and who was killed that day.

14. The list continues. But we also need to be aware of the RINOs on the take, the wolf in sheep’s clothing

Ignorance is not an excuse anymore.
