The Miracles at Mar-a-Lago
President-Elect Donald John Trump has suggested that his life was spared in order to save America. Whether one is a believer or not, there is a case to be made for that.
“Many people have told me,” he said on election night after his victory was secured, “that God spared my life for a reason, and that reason was to save our country and to restore America to greatness.” He then promised that “Now we are going to fulfill that mission together,” and added that he’d “bring every ounce of energy, spirit and fight that I have in my soul to the job entrusted to me.”
I believe him and I suspect most of you do too.
Who Really Won the 2024 Election?
So, yes, Donald J. Trump and JD Vance are the incoming President and Vice-President, but so much had to happen before that remarkable and unlikely Election Night in November, that it’s important to recount the circumstances and the personalities that led to what I’m calling a miraculous outcome.
Miracle Number One
Elon Musk first and foremost. By purchasing Twitter (in October 2022), he singlehandedly allowed non-Fox viewers to see the same man his followers had seen and had come to know and respect. Every other medium in the U.S. (other than Fox, NewsMax, and a small number of conservative outlets) perpetuated and enhanced a series of lies to sully Trump’s reputation (you know what they are: “very fine people on both sides,” “bleach injections” to combat Covid-19, “Bloodbath,” calling for the “execution” of Liz Cheney, ad infinitum).
Musk gave the now unsealed incriminating documents revealing collusion between media outlets and government entities to writers and journalists Matt Taibbi, Bari Weiss, Lee Fang, Michael Shellenberger, David Zweig and Alex Berenson, all former Democrats who doggedly insisted on telling the truth regardless of negative consequences to their friendships and careers.
Twitter (now X) and only Twitter of all the major social media websites invited and printed posts from both sides of the political aisle. And only because its new CEO, Elon Musk, insisted upon it.
Miracle Number Two
Republicans re-captured the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2022 election, allowing the exposure of the culpability of the FBI, CIA, Homeland Security, the Department of Justice, the White House, and others, in both the suppression of online conservative thought and opinion and the collusion of government agencies in the various prosecutions – both federal and state – of former president Donald Trump.
Miracle Number Three
The American public in its ever-confounding wisdom, saw through the persecution of President Joe Biden’s main challenger for the 2024 election. Every new indictment of the former president was greeted by additional support from not only Trump loyalists but also – and increasingly so – the general public. Because of Twitter (and the increasingly popular FOX News and insurgent NewsMax), many Americans began to ignore the rest of the obviously biased media. Beset by embarrassing legal tangles with a porn star and a sex-advice columnist, along with actual indictments of federal and state charges of criminal conduct, Trump’s popularity continued to rise.
Miracle Number Four
The FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago. On the morning of August 8, 2022, a team of FBI agents swarmed onto the presidential home with search warrants in hand and proceeded to scour through the former president’s home, removing “over 13,000 government documents” and other supposedly incriminating evidence, leading to his indictment in June 2023 on 37 felony counts. He was then arrested, booked, fingerprinted, and photographed. The now iconic (and pugnacious) mug shot became a rallying image and, once again, enhanced the former president’s popularity.
Miracle Number Five
“Fight! Fight! Fight!” Thomas Mathew Crooks fired at but missed the former president as he began speaking during a rally at the Butler Farm Show Grounds near Butler, Pennsylvania. Crooks’ assassination attempt revealed to the rest of America and the world what Donald Trump was made of. Here was a man – a real man – who would fight for what he believed in, even in the face of death. Presidents, Prime Ministers, Dictators, and Diplomats, all took notice.
It was a shot heard ‘round the world.
Miracle Number Six
Joe Biden drops out of the presidential race – at the suggestion first of actor George Clooney, then the prodding of Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Barack Obama, and other Democrat bigwigs. Biden’s unpopular and incompetent running mate, Vice-President Kamala Harris took his place on the ballot. Her gift that kept on giving was an unexpected answer to “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin’s question of whether Ms. Harris would have done anything differently – knowing what she knows now – than Joe Biden. She answered: "There's not a thing that comes to mind, and I have been part of most of the decisions.”
Miracle Number Seven
The sweeping election of President Donald J. Trump and Vice-President JD Vance. Republicans gained control of the U.S. Senate and held on to the U.S. House of Representatives. It was a Trifecta that heralded a complete Changing of the Guard and the promise of a Greater America.
Extended family reports from the holiday gatherings, including one who works in the upper levels of the federal government. All reported the feeling of suffocating oppression has been lifted. Also reporting even Democrats had come to hate what had become the all too pervasive cancel-culture.
Now they feel free to just get their work done, without the side-line distractions previously required to accommodate any and all perceived slights - intentional, inadvertent, imagined historic and/or present. Fweedom. MALGA - Make America Less Grouchy Again.
And so we look forward to the New Year, with the new administration and the Dream Team of highly competent people surrounding Trump. The malaise and fear that has gripped the nation for the past four years is lifting. Now, if only this pesky business of immanent World War Three can be settled it is onward to greatness and prosperity.
