Thank you, Andy. Most people don't know what the demonstrations in LA are really about, which is the Democratic Party trying to hold onto power by painting themselves as the upholders of kindness, justice, etc., and Trump as the big, bad white supremacist dictator. That's because the Dem Left still controls the media. And why publications like SB Current are so important.

It's also important that we vote out the Dems in California in 2026 and so far I don't see the CA Republicans forming a strong enough opposition. CA Republicans use the words “Conservative” and “Christian” too much. The Dems are far savvier. They don't use the words “Leftwing” or “Communist.” Why can't the Republicans just focus on getting out the message that they are going to save Californians from financial ruin the way Howard Jarvis did so successfully in the 70s? But they don't. No, they have to talk about getting back to Conservative values or Bible thump. Often I come away thinking the Republicans in CA don't really want to win. We need our own California Trump, someone who knows how to win, wants to win and will win back this state.

Thank you Polly- you nailed it: both political parties have failed California. The hope is for more to register, or easily re-register on-line, to No Party Preference (NPP) and for this third party to organize to win elections. Leave behind those who love labels (Communist, Marxist, thugs) and the Bible Thumpers, who seek to control the lives and limit the Constitutional rights of individual Californians to freedom.

Why can’t critiques of public policy stay on topic? We need election wins of alternative voices who are not litmus tested judged by those holier than thou.

The remaining question is how to organize the already 24% registered NPP?

Polly Frost's avatar

Thank you! Like you, I've been thinking about how to organize NPP. I was always a registered Democrat and voted for Obama twice, then protested against his policies more than any other president, I became a Republican only because I wanted to vote for Trump in the 2016 primary. Also, I was so tired of all the New Yorkers I knew (I lived in the Village)Tweeting about how evil Republicans are. There was a prominent art critic in our building I used to see in the laundry room and rather enjoyed listening to name-drop until he started Tweeting about how we must disown any Republican including family. But I'm really an Independent. And I suspect a growing number of people are like me, whether D or R.

When your state Government has been usurped for decades through elections people are not really seeking the truth it is all political theater to pull the wool over all the sheep who fall for it. The US Constitution and California's 1849 Constitution are compacted/Convenant to God cant be changed. Both were ratified through Congress; They are forever. California's incorporation in 1879 is unconstituional and was not ratified by congress. Its been amended over 950 times with every election the state has held since it was illegally implemented.

I asked GROK about the current cost of nursing homes in California: "The average cost for a full year in a nursing home in California in 2025 varies by room type. For a private room, the average monthly cost is approximately $13,628, equating to about $163,536 annually. For a semi-private room, the average monthly cost is around $11,748, or roughly $140,976 per year."

I also asked "What percentage of the babies born in California are to parents on Medical or other government assistance?" and the answer is 40%. Then I asked what is the average cost to deliver a baby in CA and pay with insurance? "The average cost to deliver a baby in a California hospital with insurance varies by delivery type. For a vaginal delivery, the median in-network cost is approximately $16,577, with out-of-pocket costs averaging around $2,655. For a C-section, the median in-network cost is about $20,617." Those who pay nothing drive up the cost.

The A in Andy Caldwell's COLAB is for agriculture. I hope Mr. Caldwell is working with his supporters to fix the massive problem of 50-75% of California's agricultural workers who are undocumented. I'm sure they have a better idea of who is paying into the system vs. just taking benefits.

Of course, it's way more complicated than this, but why not just fine anyone hiring someone without papers $50,000 for each person? It seems that would put the onus on companies hiring undocumented workers, and the demand side of the supply and demand equation would quickly change.

My sneaking suspicion is that both sides of the aisle like cheap labor—and have, for decades, turned a blind eye to actually addressing the situation.

California is a microcosm of what Trump voters nationally found wrong with America for varied, specific reasons. Reforms to the H2B work permit to simplify extended annual renewals by ag employers are cited as an example of what is needed. The DACA issue is controversial: those brought here unlawfully as a child by a parent. Do voters want statehood status recognized for DACAs, without possibility of citizenship unless becoming ‘citizenship eligible’ from completion of military service (current law with military vets allowed to bring in their relatives)? Should DACAs also be required to relinquish their citizenship in a foreign country? Do American voters support dual and tri-citizenships with voting rights in our country plus other countries?

Many immigration issues need to be debated and cooperatively resolved by Congress where there are elected dual citizen representatives. Employers need answers. DACAs need answers. We each need to know the rules. Immigration is an American issue, not partisan. Nationally Republican Congressional reps are as guilty as Democrats. Remember the Gang of 8? VA voters removed Republican Speaker Eric Cantor by electing unknown economist Populist Republican Dave Brat, who agreed to serve only one term.

Follow Dave Brat on social media for calm analysis and informative charts of budget issues.

Overnight we have seen more evidence that California has become an unruly, ungovernable, disastrous, failed state. All perpetrated, while the corrupt, incompetent and criminal, Democratic leadership stands by.

Burning, looting, assaults are the result of an unhinged mob attacking federal agents while carrying out their sworn duty.

When is enough, enough? Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass have hit a new low in their incompetence while our largest city, LA is on fire.

So much so that President Trump has been forced to federalize our California National Guard in order to restore law and order. Unless the rule of law is restored, Marines from Camp Pendleton may need to be brought in.

Rioters attack federal agents and cause mayhem while waving Mexican flags. This must be the final straw in documenting why we need a change in our leadership and why it is vital to remove those in our country illegally that mean to cause us harm.

What? Governor Newsom is now suggesting he hold back California’s vast revenues from the federal treasury? Isn’t that what Jefferson Davis and the Confederacy tried in 1860? Yes, make no mistake, this is a bonafide insurrection by “mostly peaceful” demonstrators.

BTW, any Karen Bass sightings? The last time she was MIA, Pacific Palisades burned to the ground!

Team Blue is doing everything they can to retain illegals on our soil. Why? They know that they can’t when an election without them. Even if 2 million are deported, it’s severely harms their ability to cheat in elections . If they lose 10 million or more, they will never win another election. Team Trump‘s plan is to entice illegals to self deport. First going after the worst of the worst criminals for deportation. Then cut off all aid to any, and all of those that are here illegally (think real ID) supported by the dole. Thus the need for controlled and contrived riots. I’m thinking we’ll see the same type riots in more than a dozen cities as the summer heats up…all paid for with your tax dollars by the evildoers. The Silent War continues…

Population-based voting districts, with few legal registered voters but high numbers of illegals, are easy for Democrat to pick off. That is why Democrats have left the back door open - for their own political gaming of the system.

More attention needs to be paid to these CVRA population-based voting districts that can be picked up on the cheap. How many of them are there now in this state. All part of the Democrat ginned up "election reform" that ultimately took this state down.

Looks like Sodom and Gomorrah tonight in a once great metropolis. Yes, Rome is burning. How was this allowed to spiral out of control? Why did LAPD not aid Federal law enforcement when under attack?

Who gave the order for LAPD to stand down initially?

These and other questions need congressional investigation and hold those culpable officials responsible, including Bass and Newsom.

I vote for declaring Marshall law, bringing in the UCMC, with orders to shoot to kill if not dispersed. Otherwise, deliberately started fires are sure to follow.

Thanks Andy for raising cash economy issue that Congress refuses to debate. Who reports to IRS unless it’s a business deduction? There’s no incentive, no reason for individual employers of service workers to report, to not pay in cash: it’s a hassle to report what cash was paid to housekeepers, Gardners, repairmen, caregivers, barbers, etc, unless deductible or given a tax credit.

Congress needs to give us a reason. However, soon there will be need: no tax on tips. All service workers are paid cash that soon we will simply classify as a tip.

How much do we each pay annually to others in cash? Don’t we each pay cash (aka TIPS) to those who help us maintain and repair our homes, care for our kids and elders, live life? Cash is how many locals have new cars, live in Section 8 subsidized housing, while concurrently working class taxpayers on payroll struggle with documented income.

Quite the concept, put the illegals who are here sitting on the couch milking us tax payers to work.

And having them pay taxes if they are employed in a cash under the table job.

Novel concept.

Not sure the Democrats believe in having people work for their paychecks.

Their voting history shows they love “free” money and those who choose

Out of 12 million illegals in CA about 500,000 pick our crops. That is what the Dems said we need illegal labor for.

So where are the other 11,500,000 illegals?

Maids, gardeners, construction, restaurants. Dems didn’t say we need illegals for these jobs.

Cash jobs, they do not pay taxes but get $30 Billion from you every year while they work and receive an income.

Illegal labor is not cheap. On average you pay $2,000 per year to support illegals.

In a house of 4 tax laying citizens that is $8,000/year your house pays to support a gainfully employed illegal.

Double dipping, yep. And know where their money goes, to Mexico. They’re living and pay conditions are much better here than in mexico.

In 2024, Mexico received a record $64.75 billion in remittances from abroad, with roughly $62.5 billion coming from the U.S. .

Meanwhile those jobs are taken away from Citizens. Caesar Chavez fought against illegals.

That’s right, that guy who has a street named after him opposed illegals.

Yesterday President Trump showed leadership with his quick response to Paramount violence, after crowds gathered with riots erupting following ICE detaining reportedly 44 people at Home Depot, strip mall near a garment factory. Facts were withheld by the media, speculation; some lies by so-called experts. Calling in the national guard to make an impact statement was a welcomed decision by every citizen who is against people being allowed to throw rocks, bottles, and worse at law enforcement. A hard line visible response messages voters nationally are serious: enforce the law or change it.

Biased reporting on Paramount followed as hand picked selected experts rendered their opinions on various networks (I monitored 8 different stations ).

Was a permit to assemble obtained? (doubtful but unknown). As per one of many examples, viewers were told Constititional rights to speech and assembly violated. Another biased example from a former female FBI Agent highly critical of ICE, failed to note that holding 1M estimated illegal aliens in the Los Angeles Metroplex is quite different than the FBI removing a few dozen identified illegals at an airport. Duh? Of other significance, networks failed to report the fact that on Friday, ICE had detained a few dozen alien day labors “outside of another Home Depot” in their 12 hours of coverage. Reporters and experts suggested employees were detained from inside the store, not outside, and a few stated that E-Verify is not effective. (Alien day laborers seeking paid work are not employees of Home Depot, which was repeatedly implied. Lying by omission.)

Only NewsNation speculatively commented that detentions the previous day, presumably sounded the alarm to “Open Secret and other Soros backed groups” to gather in Paramount or wherever ICE next enforces immigration laws. Violence, rioting, waving the Mexican flag is an organized response. Regardless it is wrong; participants need to be identified and the guilty charged.

Today CNN reporting yesterday “was manageable by Los Angeles” and there was just some spray painting which is then zoomed by cameraman; “a calm situation”. No mention of attacks on law enforcement.

Having actively followed and participated in immigration issues since 1983 as a Director of Californians for Population Stabilization (CAPS), the public needs facts: 97% of Californias growth has come from unlawful immigration and their children and grands, … aka chain migration. Major Donors decided California a lost cause around 2017: voters support Sanctuary Statehood with no cooperation. Santa Barbara County annually confirms its agreement to the BOSupervisors. CAPS was absorbed by NumbersUSA who monitors California, with no direct advocacy within our state. It’s pointless given voter response accepting the status quo.

He’s running for CA Governor next year as a Republican. His platform centers on tax cuts and deregulation including scrapping state income tax for earners under $100K and implementing a flat tax for higher incomes. His campaign slogan - “Make California Golden Again.”

But his chances of winning are slim with all the Commie-Dems in the state - a Republican Gov hasn’t happened since Arnold Snotslinger in 2011. Last 14 years - Jerry Brown and Gavin Newsom driving our beautiful state into the ground with their Commie policies.
