The change I think I see in Trump is a man who has been humbled by the brush with death, and more than ever feels chosen for this destiny to save America from the evil trajectory it is currently on.

Jim, I think Trump is doing great. And if this is PTSD then lots more Republicans should have it. Honestly, it annoys me that someone like you would say he's not at his best. It seems as though you are buying the media bs about him. The media is saying he's uncertain, that he has, yes, PTSD, he's being taken down by Kamala's strength (Kamala's strength?) and needs to get away for a bit. And you buy this? That would be the worst thing he could do - that would show weakness and the Dems would smell blood. The way he is right now may not appeal to Santa Barbara Republicans who long for Reagan's elegance, but it's not Reagan's world anymore. Just take a trip outside this bubble and you will see. Friends from all over the country are sending me photos of Trump signs - and saying they see no support for Kamala. The Rasmussen polls are showing just how much the Dem Media is lying. Trump is more popular than ever.

A great, great moment was when he called Kamala a drunk. The DNC will not be able to counter that because she is. Even a friend of mine who doesn't like Trump loved it. He said that it was an insult worthy of Winston Churchill.

Trump is showing the way to fight the Democrats. I wish we had some like him in CA. Maybe you have PTSD, Jim, and maybe you need a rest. I know I do. This craziness is more than my system can take. And that's why I'm grateful for Trump. He's not me, thank God - he's a true warrior.

The Drunk, meanwhile, is probably getting roaring drunk right now in preparation for proving at the Convention that she's not a drunk. I am loving it.

Agree. Miles long Trump Car Rally just posted on Highway 101 around Paso Robles just this weekend. It is our turn now to show Trump our support, instead of too many making even more demands on just one man himself.

This rally was organized by the farmer who plowed the mile long Trump sign in his own fields. The Central Valley is Trump Country ......in California.

He's the same solid guy Polly, but he does seem a bit more 'reflective'. Maybe it's because everybody's nagging him to lay off the personal, get serious and concentrate more on Harris's Commie policies.

Did you say 'Kamala' and 'strength' in the same sentence? Are you out of your puppy mind? :)

Earl, it's called irony. Santa Barbarans are so irony challenged. It drove me crazy when I was in high school here. I had to put up with NYC just to live in irony.

I wonder where the Lefties who like USING CAPS are today. That woman yesterday who USED CAPS TO EMPHASIZE HOW SANE SHE IS. Oh right, they're Reddit-ing each other about the Convention drinking their latest $50 red that KAMALA DOES NOT DRINK BOXED WHITE WINE ONLY TRUMPIES ARE THAT LOW CLASS.

I had a friend of many, many years that would write like that in her emails to me - using the caps and exclamation points to show her anger when (this was during the covid era) she got upset about my view on the topic. The icing on the cake was that when she came down with Covid (after all her shots) I mentioned that perhaps she should get some Ivermectin In her reply I could almost see the froth coming out of her mouth through the punctuation and caps she put in. Needless to say, it was the end of the friendship. I think there are just some personalities that handle certain realities in the world. Mores the pity.

For today's article, we limited comments to only paying members. Those who type in ALL CAPS rarely pay or play nice with others. These ALL CAPS folks often bring down the quality of debate with ad hominem, straw man, and other coarse tactics and language used more to disguise and agitate than enlighten. What do you think? Should we keep comments open to only paying members or open the floodgates to one and all? Or could we alternate access to comments given the subject matter, with comments on national issues open to paying members and more local subjects open to all? We'd love to know your (and other paying members) thoughts.

Stunning to me is how the investigation into the shooter has turned up no motive. Nothing on his phone, no social media postings and no information on his foreign locked accounts we heard about initially. The shooter is apparently being treated like Ray Epps as opposed to the Jan 6th "insurrectionists". It is safe to assume that all incriminating evidence has been destroyed by the FBI by now. We will forever be relegated to the ranks of conspiracy theorists. Would the investigation be as unimpressive if Obama got his sizable ear shot off?

JB: Just might need to wait for a less politicized body to do the investigations, in a non-election year.

I have been praying for America and for a change in Trump. Good ideas delivered by a person, whose style and personality offend middle of the road voters and even many in his own party, are less likely to carry the day. Having said that, God truly is in charge, and the Old Testament is full of examples of His allowing evil leaders, and promoting ones who honored Him. I’m looking to see a Trump chastened by near death, and more guided by his God, and less by his ego. Keep praying and looking up.

One of the rare times I disagree with you. First lets not put into the heads of the Liberal Media that Trump has PTSD. They will run with that as ‘he needs psychiatric help he can not function’. Second. There are ZERO medical opinions that this is true. Third. Did you listen to him on the Musk interview? He was funny and kidding and freely talked about it. Zero signs of anything other than the same old Trump we love. Is he perhaps more reflective? Hell yes who wouldn’t be. But lets not fantasize about medical conditions when we are not doctors and have never even spoken to the man privately.

George: Maybe you're right, but I find it hard to believe that he's back to 100% after such a harrowing near miss. He could use a break, that's all I meant to write, but guess I've failed to make my point well. Thanks for the feedback.

He is back and better in many ways. But there is a need for fallow time ...which is now. Time to let Harris expose herself fully to the nation and not use Trump as a punching bag. Less will be more right now.

Having come as close to death as Trump did, it would be almost impossible not to be affected in some way. I would imagine that it has humbled him somewhat and would force anyone to look at life a little differently. That being said, I don't think that he is in any way unable to carry out his pledges to the American people. Also having J.D. Vance on his side is a huge asset. I am sure the opposition to Trump would love to have everyone think he is not fit to serve but I believe they would be badly mistaken

Monica: I see what you're saying that the opposition will glom onto the idea that he's not fit to serve because of PTSD. That would be terrible if it caught hold with the general public. And yes, I agree, JD Vance is a huge asset!

How was Reagan changed after his assassination attempt?

..............."Most profoundly, the assassination attempt heightened the president’s sense of destiny. It made him realize how fleeting life is, and how little time a president has to make his mark. From that realization followed his historic summit talks with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev and the most important steps ever taken to rid the world of the threat of nuclear war"......................

Am I reading this right?

“House Republicans on Monday formally made the case for impeaching President Biden, releasing a lengthy report accusing him of corruption . . .”

I think this could be a big mistake, doing it at this time. It takes the focus off of Harris’s polices, ineptitude & how unqualified she is to run for POTUS.

Good riddance to this knucklehead - go get 'em Trumpy!

You can imagine what the Dems would make of any mental problems Trump might be accused of. Remember when Tom Eagleton, running for McGovern's VP had 'shock treatments' for depression. He received so much negative press he had to withdraw from the race.

Earl: You're being too kind by writing that Eagleton "had to withdraw from the race." In typical Leftie fashion, McGovern didn't and wouldn't stand by his man.
