Thanks, Robert, I enjoy your columns. I'm not a Nixon basher. I cast for Nixon in my first presidential voting, even though I had registered as a Democrat. He was the only one who convinced me he'd end our involvement in Vietnam. But let's not get gushy about the guy. He deserved the name Tricky Dick. Yes, he got the Joe Kennedy treatment, but he had his own arsenal. Which he used, notably against Helen Gahagan Douglas in 1950. And after he became President, Nixon asked my father to be the head of the IRS. With the stipulation my dad employ it against Nixon's enemies list. (My father declined.) I see every evidence that Nixon was brilliant, but paranoid and therefore chose some real bumblers he thought he could trust to carry out his missions. The Clintons, Bushes, Obama - they've all done far worse than Nixon but I do hand it to them that they know who to enlist to carry out their vendettas and know who to pay off so the public doesn't find out.
The thing I take away is that of all our recent presidents, only Trump stands alone in not engaging in this kind of dirty politics. And for that, both parties would like to see him crucified.
Polly, I was disappointed to read the terms Nixon offerred your father although Lois Lerner's behavior towards Republicans indicates that it does happen.
I thought the issue with Nixon was that while he did not orchestrate the break in, he did try to subsequently conceal it. He would have been okay if he had permitted some of his staff to "swing in the breeze."
Interesting that anyone who goes up against the military industrial complex, the CIA, the NSA, or the censorship state gets lawfared out of contention, scandaled out of office, assassinated, or attempted assassinated and then lawfared again and again…. Weird, huh? 🤷♂️
I have only a couple questions: "Have we always been at war with East Asia?? and How many fingers am I holding up right now?" (the correct answer is 5)
Right on target Eric, with one exception…it’s a big club, but the NSA is not compromised/part of The Cabal…instead, NSA is working with US Mil Intelligence as part of the counter-insurgency…FYI, POTUS Trump installed his people within each top spot at each 3 letter agency EXCEPT 1 (good reason there as Adm Rogers kick started this and scrubbed all POTUS nominations to verify oath). Michael S. Rogers is a retired four-star admiral of the United States Navy. Rogers served as the second commander of the United States Cyber Command from April 2014 to May 2018 while concurrently serving as the 17th director of the National Security Agency and as chief of the Central Security Service.

If anyone wants an in-depth analysis of Watergate (and the crucial "What did Nixon know, and when did he know it?") Brian, you are asking the right question - why are we blindly paying taxes only to lose total control over our mandatory "investments" in Big Government? Repeal 16th Amendment.
Why do we continue to automatically spend 50% of our state general fund on public edu cation when we only get #45 educational outcome rankings for our students. How will spending even more money than the current mandatory Prop 98 guarantee of 50% make a difference?
Much to unpack here by Mr. Eringer. The word “Skullduggery” comes to mind.
It would seem Mr. Putin, is his own worst enemy. Having traveled to Russia, I was amazed by its natural beauty and history. The “Hermitage” is only rivaled by the Louvre by its magnificence. The history between Russian and Ukrainian is complicated and convoluted. How do I know? My wife is Ukrainian and Russian, which is very common ancestry.
Not to give Putin cover for his obvious crimes, but the Russian grievance goes way back. In part, it has to do with old scores from WWII. The reality is, some Ukrainians were known Nazi collaborators and even had their own SS Galicia units committing millions of atrocities on Russian civilians.
Today, there are reports of the same Nazi sentiment in the Sea of Azov region of Ukraine. As the old saying goes “there is always two sides to every story!” Unfortunately, here in the US we are typically only given one side.
As for the notion that “The CIA is prohibited by law to use journalists as agents, rendering Russian accusations of espionage without merit,” I say ya right, Jack Anderson is probably laughing his ass off!
Hello LT so so you have been to Saint Petersburg Russia to see the Hermitage. Need to live
in Russia for awhile to learn about "The Russian's" especially during Putin's rise to Power
in Saint Petersburg, Russian during the 1990s. I recommend another Saint Petersburg Russia Attraction which I call "Dead Mans Lakes" the three Ocero or озеро. When the Russian Mafia would assaninate thier "Competition" in Saint Petersburg in the 1990's they would dump that body in one of the "Three Lakes." Brings back fond memories and here is the UTUBE on Saint Petersburgs Three Lakes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=bBUt5pYTFLQ
By the way, the Russian Mafia is very efficient, they do not miss like in the Assassination Attempt of Donald J, Trump.
I don't share your view of Putin at all. We have disregarded everything he's tried to do to preserve peace with us. And we also have bio labs on the Ukraine border. How would we react if he was doing the same thing to America? Where do we get off manufacturing a coup in Ukraine to put this nitwit Zelensky in power? Our coup behavior has now come home to America. If our own government is a shambles right now perhaps we could have avoided this by not creating the monstrosity of intelligence that once overthrew other countries and is now overthrowing ours. I stand with Trump. America first and that means we stop meddling in the rest of the world.
The Russians also collaborated with the German Reich, along with other consistent states forming the Soviet Union. Still, does this justify Putin declaring war on a Christian nation? Is it Christian to kill off Eastsrn Orthodox and Eastern Catholic Christians who aren't under your leadership?
"Journalist" Kashoggi's bloody end in the Turkish Embassy also comes to mind - was in fact the well known Spy Code being honored -once a spy is busted, death is the only bargained for consequence.
nice list of items to nibble on, Thank You…my take:
"US Tried to get Navalny into Russia Swap—but then he Died" — Navalny was a tool being used in The Cabal’s attempts to take down Russia (Khazars have been plotting, planning, making moves against Russia for centuries)
“Evan Gershkovich Made a Stunning Final Request Before being Freed in the Historic Prisoner Swap” — Gershkovich was working for the CIA, got caught snooping near Intel sites/military installations
“Revealed: The Moment Furious Putin is Told 1,000 Ukrainian Soldiers Have Crossed Border in Audacious Surprise Assault” -- Putin spoke to European places of power for more than 15 year prior to going into Ukraine (Deep State laundry room/play grounds) warning against the West arming Ukraine & bringing them into NATO (Red Line)...see Putin's statement of reason for the Ukraine military incursion: 1) to demilitarize Ukraine and 2) to deNazify Ukraine
“Tim Walz Signed Bill Making Minnesota Sanctuary State for Child Sex-Changes” — Tim Walz is a compromised empty-suit politician working for the Communist/Marxist attempting to collapse Our Great Nation
“Squad’s Cori Bush Meltdown After Being Ousted from Congress" — Another one bites the dust...thank you, thank very much
“X to Close Flagship San Francisco Office” — Musk saw the continued failing of Cali + higher & higher takes/regulations…made a wise decision to move to greener pastures of Texas...may also desire to work with Attorney General Ken Paxton to expose the seditious-treasonous direct messaging by our compromised politicians (et al) on Twitter prior to him buying the company
“Nixon Shouldn’t Have Resigned” — Nixon wasn't part of the club - had to go
"Hank & the Pratt House Crowd" -- Kissinger was a high-ranking shot caller in The Cabal…Council on Foreign Relations + many others institutes make up the US shadow government
All tolled, brings to mind a few Qs. What if we find out that there is an organization and a global project - Global - that engages in blackmail, threats & assassinations (wet works of innocent people (CIA term for killings)) to enlist new players and expand its influence? What if it is engaged in all manner of criminal activities, up to and including, starting wars for profit (and thin/control the herd), human trafficking, drug running, and many more purely evil acts. What if we find out that it has embezzled 1,000,000,000,000 of dollars from Western economies? What if they have the technologies that would eliminate poverty as well as save the Earth's biosphere in a single generation?
Brilliant synopsis DL. Schumer accurately said on the intelligence community “they have six ways to Sunday to get back at you.”
As a young child, I had a friend that I would hang out with at his home. On the walls were several B&W photos of his Dad with big game trophies in Africa. My friend was always vague about what his Dad did in Africa. Turns out he was Station Chief for the CIA in Kenya. No doubt knew about multiple assassinations and regime overthrows, probably on the behest of De Beers!
The average person has no idea about the dirty tricks involving extortion, bribery and murder that our deep state has been involved with for decades.
LT: I think we do have an idea - there are whiffs of political violence even here when anyone takes on the local political machine. Paranoia about their "enemies" are used to justify their extreme stands; but always belying their real motivations.
Cognitive dissonance is a form of violence too. They ask us to disbelieve what we see with our own eyes. As they say, all politics are local. And violence can take more subtle forms locally - slurs and slanders work just as well. Do we even recognize any political opponent, after the local partisan Mean Machine works them over?
Chris Mitchum got the worst treatment when he ran against Lois Capps, but others have been hit to lesser degree. Often swift and fast to cut them off at the very beginning and to drain their resources up front so as to weaken any final campaign attacks against them. Contesting even their right to appear on the ballot, is just one tactic we are seeing with greater frequency.
Now that the local GOP is finding persons to run for open positions locally, it will be good to observe the organized opposition against them. How quickly will they pounce to label them the "Trumpy" candidates? Etc, etc, etc.
Thanks, J. I love how the Capps managed to get themselves canonized while doing nothing to merit such holiness. A couple of years ago Laura Capps came to visit our neighborhood at our request since she supposedly represents us. She arrived in Ukraine colors, because really, we should understand that she feels our pain … it's just that Ukraine feels more important pain than we ever could.
The local GOP would be wise to support moderate Republican candidates that would actually have a chance at victory.
Here's a tangent, and not exactly a local example, but in contrast, look who was running against Gavin Newson in the last gubernatorial election. Nuts. No way would many CA dems disgruntled with Newsom vote for any of those candidates. The GOP should have vetted out and selected someone more moderate that would have a chance in to win CA.
Randy Rowse is not a Republican, but he's not a Democrat either, and he certainly wasn't endorsed by the DCC. I don't recall any nasty attacks on him by the dems.
Visualize the big picture and imagine where the center lies within the voting district. Choose a candidate from that range and he/she will have a chance at victory.
Joan, I was responding to your quote: "Now that the local GOP is finding persons to run for open positions locally, it will be good to observe the organized opposition against them. How quickly will they pounce to label them the "Trumpy" candidates?"
Partisan labels are used here and are necessary in making my point.
While I appreciate the value of non-partisan politics and recognize the non-partisan nature of certain offices, partisan labels are used everywhere and are heavily considered when voting for a candidate for non-partisan offices. Here on this site, Rowse was blasted for not having provided the republicans something in return for their support in his campaign for a non-partisan office. He was blasted for supporting the democrat Salcido, also running for a non-partisan office. My mentioning his campaign experience had more to do with my point addressing the value in endorsing a moderate candidate - something relevant in response to your aforementioned quote.
Victoria, You make a very good point. Let's get all partisanship out of local elections. However, how will independents without party identification get the support to enter the fray. A lot of this depends on voters themselves, who are not indebted to the party spoils system. That is the challenge. Reminders may be all we have right now.
Union-backed Democrats are not centrists - they are mono-culturists - who concentrate our tax dollars on their own behalf and toss out "social justice" smokescreens to assuage the masses to keep voting for them.
Meanwhile their smoke-screen politics are destroying us from within Eg: how many more property tax producing parcels can we keep converting over to non-profit status and remain economically healthy?
Time to add up the "progressive" balance sheet as too many of our local government institutions are now running in the red.
Exactly LT, the Cabal has been using our military (+ NGOs, diplomatic corp +++) to create discord and/or overthrow governments (coup) for decades…all to install the central bank & capture the county through financial means & enslave the population…fortunately, average citizens are now waking
The full story on Tim Walz has yet to be told. My question is, WILL the full story be told?
Mr. Walz is an interesting political creature. Starting out as a Private, E-1 in the Army (I know that feeling), he ascended to the supposed rank of Command Sergeant Major, E-9. But wait, he didn’t meet the requirements for CSM and bailed on his unit prior to being deployed? So, he took his Army pension and settled for Master Sergeant,E-8. At the very least, Mr. Walz could be characterized as a master scammer!
When looking at other facts, Walz embellished his Army service to indicate he was in combat. Similar to that of Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal, lying about service in Vietnam. What is it about Democratic politicians feeling they need to falsify their military service?
Add to Walz bizarre career; Tampons in Boys bathrooms, standing by while Minneapolis burned to the ground and establishing a “snitch line” for neighbors to rat out each other over COVID violations should give great pause.
But wait, then there’s the issue of his 30+ trips to China, why is this? He was really that big of a fan for Egg Foo Young?
Based on this and more, it would seem to me, Mr. Walz is unquestionably qualified to join the other swamp creatures in Washington.
As for former Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mo., what an utter, psychotic disgrace! Her and her co-conspirators from the “Squad,” and the rest of the Congressional Black Caucus are obvious malcontents and a clear and present danger to our democracy! Hopefully, the ongoing FBI investigation into Bush for misappropriation of funds will lead to a Federal indictment and conviction!
I've got a new acronym for that dopey Walz - AWOL(Z). I sure am glad Blow-Blow, (Princess Pericles/Harris) picked him instead of Shapiro. LT is right - just wait 'till Walz's skeletons start slithering out of the closet - he'll be toast!
Lots of scams and NCO club skimming can come along with reaching the top enlisted ranks too. I see this more as the J. Edgar Hoovers of the enlisted military crowd- they also know where the bodies are buried by that time. Which they can use for good or evil. Like much of any political game - no different.
A interesting corollary on J. Edgar. It was common knowledge that he was a closet gay man who liked to bet on the Ponies. It’s not a stretch to assume he was compromised and multiple parties had his number. Maybe that’s why he made the ridiculous assertion “there is no such thing as the mafia.” Needless to say, he owned JFK, RFK, MLK and half of Hollywood by virtue of all the illegal wiretaps the FBI had. Sure, he had veto power over Hollywood by simply threatening to out numerous gay leading actors.
JEH’s novel was appropriately named “Master’s of Deceit,” probably more of an autobiography than about the evils of the Communist state.
Yes, he definitely knew where all the bodies were buried.
Fascinating expose on Nixon. I consider myself somewhat of a Nixon aficionado having lived in Yorba Linda and visiting the Nixon Library and birthplace several times. Like Putin, Nixon it could be argued, was his own worst enemy.
Was he paranoid, probably. But then again, most people in his situation probably would be as well. Undoubtedly, he had the dirt on the Kennedy’s. Ironically, the Kennedy’s like the Biden’s, belong to the same Irish crime family.
Hopefully, history will be kind to the beguiled Mr. Nixon. It could be argued his overtures to Russia and China saved the US from pending nuclear doom.
Robert. I appreciate your retrospective on Pres. Nixon, and suggesting the highly derogatory/conspiratorial even psychotic narrative for decades promoted by both the Left and Right might deserve a careful re-evaluation. To be consistent with your thesis, might I also suggest the equally derogatory and extremely trite sobriquet "Tricky Dick" be forever trashed; substituted for the more proper & respectful, "Former President Nixon".
Is there any interest among my fellow Current subscribers in fact-based news media? My preference is to fact-check and cross reference assertions made by journalists and other authors, and to also include a bias check on the publication. Only then do I consider the material in forming my own opinion. Ad Fontes is a bias reporting site that is considered nonpartisan. News sources near the top of the chart are more fact-based (than opinion-based, misleading, or propaganda - which is toward the bottom). News sources near the middle vertical line are less biased. Check it out: https://adfontesmedia.com/interactive-media-bias-chart/
Thank you, Victoria, for the link. I punched it in to get a view of it and I noticed that someone can send in (free for the first time) a news story or whatever to have them give an analysis of it. I may do something about the Covid pandemic and see what they say. What they come up with should be interesting.
I know , it is not easy to decipher the truth anymore. I guess one has to rely on outlets that have proven themselves over and over in the past. Also using ones own common sense can come in handy. Too bad a lot of people have it in a limited amount.
Best advice I can give is, read all sides and trust your gut…also try X (formerly Twitter) and find trusted sources for current information…X is now the #1 news site on the planet and one can find masses of information that is breaking across the world…Good Luck.
PS…new old saying, when the SHTF, find you way to your nearest conspiracy theorists…😎
Yes, you're right on about trusting your gut. I totally believe that. Someone else just mentioned X to me the other day. Will give it a try. Thank you, DL.
I read this article by Intelligence “Individual” Mr. Eringer titled
“Putin Shocked! Harry Blocked! Walz Mocked! Nixon Clocked!”
and I quote Mr. Eringer “US Tried to get Navalny into Russia Swap—but then he Died” (Yahoo News) But then he was murdered. Undoubtedly on the orders of mad Vlad Putin. Probably to ensure Navalny could not be part of a swap. Way to go, Joe!”
“Evan Gershkovich Made a Stunning Final Request Before being Freed in the Historic Prisoner Swap”
So lets bring this all back to little ole Santa Barbara and I ask Intelligence “Individual” Mr, Eringer....
who of course Knows All About the Russians basic questions #1 to #3 below>>>
I propose a New Title as follows “Santa Barbara Police Dept Shocked, SB DA's Office Blocked
and the The So-Called-SB Leaders Mocked and SB Community Clocked.
I recommend for reading “Ship Of Fools” to better understand our So-Called-SB Leaders Dereliction of their Duty. As Ms. Loranzo said yesterday ….. there basically is no honor here in Santa Barbara.
Julia, MAGA grew out of too many years of the Democrat box of lies and fiscal irresponsibility.
MAGA grew out of the Tea Party if anything - a solid fiscal sanity movement. Yet there was no leader. Trump later emerged as his own spokesperson which also happened to coincide with much of the Tea Party message.
Not Big Media's version of the Tea Party; but the real Tea Party - back to the US Constitution, limited government, rule of law, protection of private property, free and competitive markets and ...fiscal sanity.
MAGA is a good team to be part of, if you care about your future and the future of your grandchilden. There is nothing sinister about it , nor was it "released" out of a box of evil. It was a reaction to the fundamental evil of a tax and spend government the was growing out of control.
Sorry, I’ve seen nothing good come from MAGA. A good team? All I see are cultlike elites following a god with clay feet who will bring Project 2025 as a plan to do away with a federal government. No thank you.
Indulging in exaggerations much? But this is a watershed election between Big Government and Limited Government. No need for polarizing lies about this. Serious issues are on the table. Do you feel personally threatened by a loss of a government job?
No, I don’t feel threatened by the loss of a government job, in fact, I’ve never worked for the government and have been retired for a number of years. I feel threatened by the loss of freedom and democracy. Please don’t try to sell me on MAGA, which I see as cult like elitist who worship a god with feet of clay.
Julia, You err thinking MAGA is a movement of just one person. Pretty much everyone here will probably admit they knows and acknowledges certain Trump personal failings. However, we mainly back his policies, his team's voice on critical issues, and his prior track record of promises made, promises kept.
Coming here to explore conservative view points and policy positions, will be energizing for all concerned. Both at the national level and increasingly at the local level too. We don't waste a lot of time here arguing or nitpicking Trump's peccadilloes. So there will be little interest trying to argue you out of your stated positions on that particular issue.
We simply do not buy into what keeps getting thrown in our face by those who come to "rescue" us from our Truman delusions: "Orangeman Bad and you are a bad person for supporting him".
Ratchet this up to policy discussions that affect us nationally and locally. Since no politician, particularly among all of those on the national stage today are subject to the same withering scrutiny. Though so far JD Vance looks like the real deal - one who talks the talk, and walks the walk intelligently, sincerely and articulately. Time wounds all heels, so no unearned halo for anyone at this point. Politics - the art of the possible.
We also know we need a junk yard dog to break up the Deep State lock on what has happened to our own government, and that does come riding in on a horse called Trump for many of us now. What you see as flaws, other see as essential equipment for the critical task at hand.
Are we a government of the unelected CIA, FBI, DOJ, and Dept of State and their BigMedia and BigGovernment union mouthpieces? Or are we truly capable of returning to government of the people, by the people and for the people. A lot hangs in balance this election. Again, welcome aboard. Make us earn and defend our beliefs.
I’m not trying to rescue anyone from their beliefs. I’m tired of the blatant lies that are trumpeted by the MAGA leader, and his followers don’t call him out on the lies that have been proven lies. He is an embarrassment. Thank you for the welcome, but as they say, “let’s agree to disagree.
Alexei Navalny was a CIA asset, hence he was axed. The CIA was up to no good in Russia. Tricky Dick did the United States no favors when he signed into law REVENUE SHARING, a disastrous concept where the largest states like California send the federal government the largest share of taxes which then are redistributed to other states. California taxes SHOULD remain in California and not leave the state. I'm taking a strictly CONSTITUTIONAL approach here where the states are considered SOVREIGN in their own right and per the founding document, the states retain 90% of the power and the federal government is relegated to 10% of the power. The founders intended for the states to be more powerful than the federal government forming a DECENTRALIZED Constitutional Republic. We need to go back to those founding principles.
Thanks, Robert, I enjoy your columns. I'm not a Nixon basher. I cast for Nixon in my first presidential voting, even though I had registered as a Democrat. I meant to say he didn't have great concealers :-) God knows, subsequent presidents certainly have, including the media.
Speaking of concealment, I don't feel I learn anything about what's going on with Putin or Russia in anything I read.
Interesting that anyone who goes up against the military industrial complex, the CIA, the NSA, or the censorship state gets lawfared out of contention, scandaled out of office, assassinated, or attempted assassinated and then lawfared again and again…. Weird, huh? 🤷♂️

Ya, just ask Michael Huffington. Talk about being thrown out of the closet! Unfortunately, we’re stuck with listening to his nutty ex-wife.
Victoria, why did you inject partisan labeling into our non-partisan city offices?
Too much to address here.. I've got other things to do today!
Love the title.
Politics are dirty.
“ By law, the CIA is not permitted to use journalists as agents”
Since when has the CIA obeyed laws?
I agree Dr. John. My main criticism is Nixon didn't tell 'em all to pound sand and stuck it out instead of caving into the fuss and fury at the time.
Bizarre comment, and from a real "Dr". I'm sure it's me not you.

Would like to see your results Monica…Methinks it just another controlled gatekeeper of information, like all other fact checkers

1. Any “Russian Organized Crime” (ROC) has been operating in Santa Barbara County”?
2. Any of Vlad Putin's Agent has been operating in Santa Barbara County?
3. Any Russian Money Laundering Activities in Santa Barbara County?
And where may I ask are our fearless So-Called “Sleepy” Santa Barbara Leaders who concealed

“Tim Walz Signed Bill Making Minnesota Sanctuary State for Child Sex-Changes”
That law was copied from an eariler California law, SB 107.
Every Democrat in our legislature voted for it, and Gavin signed it.
MAGA was released from Pandora’s box never to be captured again, at least not in this lifetime.
Are you speaking of hope?
