I agree with Brian's assessment of the democratic party. It's become very difficult to even discuss these issues with lots of people, that I also call the deniers or the brainwashed. I like to consider opposing opinions to see if my opinion might be wrong. Most of the people with opposing opinions refuse to be open minded and even consider that they might be wrong. Sad. I encourage everyone to be open minded and as Brian says, do your homework.

I keep in my own mind the following conservative fundamentals: (1) protection of private property; (2) free and competitive markets; (3) rule of law; (4) limited government.

These are in contrast to Democrat Party governing fundamentals: (1) confiscation of private property; (2) micro-managed nanny state; (3) two systems of partisan justice; and (4) ever expanding Big Government.

Which candidates best articulate and demonstrate the potential to carry out these fundamental conservative governance principles?

Understanding at all times, politics remains the art of compromise. Mayor Randy Rowse and Councilmember Eric Friedman are the only two who come to mind in the local political scene who at least consider these alternate governing elements. Our local and state political scene needs a lot more give and take between these two opposite political poles, if we are to ever pull ourselves out of this current political malaise.

How are these socially conservative though? Limited government, free and competitive markets? This is just libertarianism. Truly conservative values would be in line with Christian beliefs like the right to life at any stage of human development, opposition to deviant sexual practices/the sexual revolution, upholding the dignity of man, and ensuring that the spiritual and physical needs of our brothers and sisters are met. I don't know about you but I'm a catholic monarchist and aside from the protection of private property and a rule of law I fail to see what's so conservative about your other two primary beloefs.

Theo, render unto Caesar what is Caesar's.......... render unto God what is God's

Our constitutional government is our modern day Caesar - limited by design. We carry the rest of our culture within ourselves; in our sovereign personhood.

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

excellent short history of the open racism pushed by the D Party…makes it more revolting that they push their agendas using taxpayer money…these people are con artists…

[D] Party Con:

When you can't raise money 'organically' through party (individual) donations (voter base) YOU STEAL IT from the American taxpayer and give it back to yourself in the form of campaign contributions.

[Example 1]

Planned Parenthood

https://www.gao.gov/products/gao-18-204r

$1.5 billion provided in taxpayer funding over 3-year period.

[Case 1]

PP spent $30 million [disclosed - real estimates close to $65 million] in taxpayer subsidies to influence the outcome of the 2018 midterm elections.

[Conclusion]

Should it be legal for a taxpayer funded organization to donate massive amounts of money to the D PARTY in an effort to sway an election?

by the way, the D Party insider term for such actions is taxpayer wash…time to stop the madness!

Thank you for this short history of The Democratic Party. I am an immigrant. I was generally aware of most of the history, but I had not seen it written so concisely before. I have always compared the Democratic Party with the British Labour Party which destroyed the British economy, until Margaret Thatcher actually introduced the supposed mission of the Tory Party, which, when in power, they failed to pursue. Maggie, apart from Winston Churchill, was the only effective, Tory Prime minister after the second world war.

Google “the Southern strategy” if you want to understand why the Republican party is now largely viewed as the party suppressing African American rights. You’ve laid out a very good factual basis from slavery to the Civil Rights movement, but then leaving out the last 50 years of politics conveniently leaves out all the recent voting restrictions that Republican governments have put in place since Shelby Co. vs. Holder to suppress Black voters.

What’s the other option? A party run by the likes of Santos, Greene, Boebert, Cawthorn, and, yes, trump? I turned in my fifty year old Republican card once this nonsense began. Now an Independent. Review Project 2025 and tell me that’s how we want things.

Well, career politicians can be a bit “exagerative” when running for office. It doesn’t stop them from taking up residency in the White House.

Biden says he was never accused of sexual assault. The why did Nancy Pelosi dismissed Tara Reade’s accusations of sexual assault against Joe Biden. By saying “I I know him,”

Biden also maintained that he “graduated with three degrees from undergraduate school” and was the “outstanding student in the political science department.”

In fact, Biden graduated 76th of 85 students in his law school class, had only a partial scholarship and did not win top honors in his undergraduate discipline.

Biden claimed: “My ancestors…worked in the coal mines of Northeast Pennsylvania and would come up after 12 hours and play football for four hours,’’ even though no one in Biden’s family tree ever worked underground.

Biden told audiences that after his stint in the White House, “I became a teacher. I became a professor.” While it is true that he took a lofty salary to make a handful of speeches for the University of Pennsylvania, Biden has never taught students.

Biden’s claims of having been arrested in the 1970s because he tried to visit Nelson Mandela in prison. Nope, didn’t happen.

He has also cast himself as a civil rights activist and co-sponsor of the Endangered Species Act; those things aren’t true either.

Biden’s 1987 campaign he was caught plagiarizing passages of a speech given by Neil Kinnock. Biden falsely repeated the British Labor leader’s history that he was the first “in a thousand generations” to graduate from college

Biden proclaimed the Obama administration “didn’t lock people up in cages.” The “cages” were installed under Obama.

The list goes on. The point is Dems love bashing Santos for following in Biden’s footsteps. Ah, jealousy?

My parents helped me understand all of this at a young age and pointed out the many instances of liberal bias while I was growing up in the 60s. I will forward this to my children so they can see, the facts about what I have been telling them their whole lives because I’m sure none of this came up during their schooling. "Today most teachers purposely ignore or teach the opposite of what is truly occurring." The irony of this pot shot taken at 'teachers' is pretty rich coming from the author who plays teacher by giving a history lesson that ignores and teaches the opposite of what has happened in the last fifty years! Not addressing the Republican Southern Strategy and political realignment that has happened after Goldwater and Nixon played on white, mostly southern, grievances over Civil Rights legislation makes this author's points irrelevant and infantile--basically making the argument - "Democrats supported slavery in the 1800s more than Republicans so, see... they are the racists." Instead, how about a more nuanced and relevant discussion? Tell us dear author, why you see confederate flags flying proudly at Trump rallies? Which party supports a candidate who believes there are 'good people on both sides" when speaking of racist marching through Virginia? Tell us why you feel comfortable supporting a candidate who, and this is just a short list off the top of my head, refused to apologize for calling for the death penalty on the Central Park Five, who questioned without evidence Obama's citizenship, who mocks the disabled, women, and people of color at any turn, and whose actions by the way, led to January 6th? And the author has the gall to call out teachers, without any evidence mind you, for 'preaching their personal opinion' to their students. The author doth protest too much, methinks.

Teaching moment, Will. Always refer to original source material, before relying on truncated sound bites attempting to support your very tired and long-debunked narrative about "good people on both sides". That discredited claim falls squarely into the Joseph Biden Lexicon of Repeated Political Fabulism.

Debunked? We all heard what he said, how he tried to explain it away in the days after without really doing so, more dog whistles for those who wanted to hear what they heard (e.g. stand back and stand by vs. definitively denouncing the Proud Boys....hmmm who showed up on Jan 6?) The point being, rather than taking the moment to unite the country against bigotry and racism, he chose to equivocate, emboldening those who heard his words as validation of their hateful views. It's an example that illustrates how silly the author's argument is about the history of Democratic racism which ignores the current reality and the shameful history of Trump's own racial behaviors that are so conveniently ignored -- when you have a history that includes the Central Park 5, discriminating against blacks in renting apartments, questioning our nation's first black president's citizenship--I can go on...you don't get the benefit of the doubt on what you really mean. Ethical high ground is tricky territory with Trump that requires a lot of moral gymnastics. And don't get me started on the author's attacks on teachers. Without merit, completely baseless, not factual and more red meat for those that think learning both the good and bad elements of our shared history means you are 'indoctrinating.'

Common tactic - attempt to distract by not addressing arguments and offering a counter argument, instead use an hominem to make a baseless claim about sources without doing so yourself. Joe Biden has been accused of sexual assault by Tara Reade.

The Biden diary is real, they are going to prosecute the person who found it. Which means Biden did shower with his daughter.

But did you notice how “they” covered up Hunters Laptop?

Did notice that a Senator who “willfully” kept classified documents and then told said secrets to a ghost writer because he got paid $8,000,000 for the book rights is not in jail?

Do you recall the classified documents found in a garage, the Penn Center, etc that were kept by a Senator and a Vice President and the government decided to not say anything until after an election?

Or how about the President who kept documents that are permitted under the PRA and has every right to keep those documents. And they were in a locked room with security guards behind a gated property with limited access. Not a garage floor at a beach house that a drug addict had access to.

Here’s a good one, in 1973 Biden called Gays a threat to National Security.

Should we keep going?

Expand full comment

In 1973 gays were probably a security risk to our National Security. Almost everyone was in the closet because society was so out right evil and mean to them. So if you were a closeted gay you'd be perfect target for outside leverage.

Expand full comment

Philandering husbands and promiscuous wives were equally targeted as security risks. Therefore, society was "so outright evil and mean" to many that were out of step with the more rigid contemporary moral standards at any given time. Just like what befalls an election or covid denier today. Segregation and ostracism have long been used for societal control. Handle with care. Because anything-goes is destablilizing too.

A fundamental political party realignment is going on. Which is a good thing. Trotting out Santos is a curious example however. Unless you want to compare him to the Democrat who thinks the island of Guam will tip over.

There is a fundamental realignment between Big Government insiders dependent upon ever-increasing tax dollars, and the remaining free enterprise innovators who generate the tax dollars - all vying to "make America great again". And no, it is unlikely we can all get along, or "come together". We work more as a pendulum swinging from one end of the spectrum to the other, while averaging over time somewhere in the middle.

Being an election year, it will be very interesting to see how this current renewal process both manifests and shakes out. Then just wait it out until the new kids fall victim to their own excesses and corruptions, just like the last kids.

Democrats were formed from racist who wanted slavery and no civil rights.

Republicans fought for civil rights, anti racism and women’s rights.

The RINOs forgot what the Republican Party is about. They sold their souls for payouts or got caught with their pants down and became a double agent.

The Patriots are wanting to restore Republicans back to the civil rights loving anti government party there originated from.

Even conservative democrats understand this and do not want to be a part of the Democratic Party. But they hold on to the lies they’ve been fed. Like an abusive relationship, hoping the Dem leaders will actually live up to their false promises.

Still, the republican party is hardly a good political movement, or at least an effective one today. I obviously despise the Democrat party but as a Catholic Christian it's disgusting to see the Republican party do little to nothing to actually conserve anything of value instead of just caving into whay leftists desired a decade ago. Why is no one in the republican party doing anything to ban pornography, or make it much harder to access. Too often it feels like the republican party only cares about being fiscally conservative, or thinking that the early to mid 20th century was the ideal conservative society (there was widespread degeneracy that continued to fester and propagate).

Thank you for turning on the Flashlight to the co-conspirators with the democrats. Mob Mentality within the Republicans is just as bad as the Democrats when it is very obvious looking at our 2024 Primary voting totals the Democrats have 2-3 times more registered voters and the majority of these voters on the democrat voter rolls are mostly illegal voters. These machines need to be gone out of our election system and same-day voting, paper ballots, with voter IDs need to be restored. independent voters whether they be Republicans or American Independents have been at the county Board of Supervisors speaking out for all that has transpired. It is discrimination to keep any presidential candidate off the ballot or to declare themselves the rightful party to have the power to say if you want this presidential candidate you must join our party the Republican Party is complicit in withholding campaign money raised from the candidates.
