Mr. Campbell, sorry you had to experience this.

As a founding member of a group that questioned and pointed out the failures of anti car transportation planning I know what the attacks are like. Back in the day of land line phones repeated death threats and demeaning statements starting at 12:00 AM where common for almost 5 years. Statements like "you should be shot" were shouted out at both Carpinteria and Santa Barbara City Council meetings. Never once was there an ejection from the meetings.

The attacks continue. They are nastier then before, and are comments by elected officials caught in blatant lies as part of the Public Record.

It always amazes me to see what cannot be proven are used as statements of absolute truth. Anyone who would point out both statistical and social failures are attacked.

It takes a strong constitution and you have proven yours.

Outstanding presentation of our local reality Brian. If any of us are not 100% in line with these progressive opinionists claiming to be journalists (Jerry Roberts, Nick Welch, Josh Molina, …), expect their bullying, ridicule, intimidation, and unlawful slander without any retraction of their false reporting. “Evil hates the light of truth”, as you point out. Any visible, known South County Citizen who is an independent thinker unwilling to be controlled by the entrenched progressive Democrat Committee and Media is a target of their pen. I respect Ana Garcia taking 100% ownership of her guillotine sign at the Council meeting as her ‘free speech right’. I’m appalled with every District Rep for allowing radicals to extort City funds from them 6-1 votes, plus another $800K of public funds in 2020 behind closed doors. However, they get re-elected while non-Dems are shut out. Their fiefdom is their style of “democracy”.

Your courage admirable Brian. Your articles exposing local reality validate what needs to be known and shared. We are outnumbered, must unite, share truths, and find electible candidates like stellar Bob Smith, and retiring party unaffiliated Mayor Randy Rowse.

Every SB City Council District Rep will tell you being a Democrat is in their DNA; and being a Democrat is required to get media coverage from the existing partisan cabal. Dem candidate signs are all over town in the yards of GOP and NPPs. Why? Because they’ve given up, now choosing the lesser of two evil Democrats.

BTW: Tonight Bob Smith will be at an Alston Road event 5:30-7:30 to discuss issues. The flag will be waving!

Wow! Brian this is one of the best SB Current articles I have read. Jerry Roberts’ attack on you should be a badge of honor. I usually assess someone or an institution by who are their critics or those who defame them. At least Jerry Roberts was honest enough to use his name and not criticize you hiding behind a pseudonym. We need courageous people to speak up and put their name on their opinions. Quoting Jesus was the perfect ending. Loving our enemies and treating them as just misguided neighbors, sadly taking the broad road to judgement, is hard. That is the standard we should apply.

So well presented, exactly right.

Fear and intimidation tactics are all they got left. It's sad and humiliating to watch actually.

Harvard Law School professor Alan Dershowitz' once laid out a strategy for successfully defending legal cases:

"If the facts are on your side, pound the facts into the table.

If the law is on your side, pound the law into the table.

If neither the facts nor the law are on your side, just pound the table."

With the left these days, we have clearly entered the "just pound the table" phase of their political discourse strategy. 😆

As usual, Brian, you give a thorough assessment and deconstruction of the Marxist approach to combating open dialog on common issues. Congratualtions…and keep it up! Your last comment…

"As Jesus taught:

'Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.' (Matthew 5:44, KJV)

Perhaps that is the standard we need most: not victory over our political opponents, but the grace to love our neighbors even when we disagree.”

This is the most correct advice…and the hardest to understand how to implement on a daily, realistic basis. But that is the challenge. How to oppose evil while not becoming that ourselves!

Montecito93108's avatar

It’s wrong to love evil; to accept evil. Tolerate it if you must but love it?!? No thanks Robert.

Hot off the Press new Indy front page on Raising Humans. I’ve not yet read the article but can guess that UCSB’s Sara McCune Mind Center is involved to implant Social Justice ‘white privilege’ hatred into the process, and survey students again on their parents (finances, debt, sex lives) without parental knowledge or consent. Fair Education fought back when this first surfaced at schools to eventually prevail via Attr. Eric Early and fearless leader James Fenkner. The first efforts of the Social Justice Warriors obtained intimate family details from enrolled SBUSD minor aged students. The battles are endless. What’s next?

The left has lost their ability for civil discussions. Actually, they’ve been taught to argue their point not with facts, but with inflammatory rhetoric. Taught by a conniving teachers union, empowered by a corrupt Democratic Party through an unholy alliance between the two in order to control the masses. A stupid populous is easy to control.

Stupid is as stupid does

Congratulations Brian, for calling out the genius behind “Newsfakers,” very own make believe journalist and village idiot. I resist using his name so as to not give into his narcissism.

Clearly, we are in a news bubble here in SB. Virtual signaling, painting conservatives as sub human and giving cover to the incompetence and criminality associated with the local lefty machinery, all standard operating procedure for the local media.

Perhaps at the crux of our local divide, is the tribalism which is pervasive in our community. The latest example, is raising of the Rainbow flag at City Hall along side the Stars and Stripes and the California Grizzly in celebration of “Pride Season.” Shocking? Not really. Apparently, an entire month is not enough. This is what tribes do. Deploying “us against them” mentality as outlined in “Rules for Radicals” by Saul Alinsky. Specifically, using ridicule, targeting individuals, maintaining pressure and disorienting the opposition is all right out of the Alinsky playbook.

How should we respond to this ongoing assault on our traditions and culture? As with any other 12 step program, admit we have a problem.

Montecito93108's avatar

LT- we know we have a serious local problem! Now what?

Now what? Exactly what we are doing, ie admitting we have a problem, vet candidates, elect candidates and demand change. At some point property owners must revolt, just as Howard Jarvis did so brilliantly. And no, I’m not optimistic that the opposition will suddenly discover Jesus.

Sad that it has come to this point and hope that we can recover from the hate fueled rhetoric from the radical left.

I blame the MSM, mostly, and politcal leaders. Mockingbird Media and their 4 Am drops to brainwash the masses.Pikuticak leaders who instigate violence,Maxine Waters for one.

Or Maybe it's 5G or the Covid shots that really altered their brains.

All I know is it will take a miracle to change them and at this point I feel sorry for them because they are so hateful and angry.

As for me,I accept opposing opinions with friends and others. Although I don't agree,I still respect their opinion.

When we let hate and others have control over us it gives them power. Don't allow that power to them.

Hopefully Jerry is only talk and no actions against you.

It's seems as if Free Speech only applies to one side in SB and California.

Agreed. Jerry Roberts's thoughts on the matter, or anything, most likely, are the thoughts and rantings of a child having a temper tantrum. Irrelevant.

Not really deserving of a full throated rebuttal, but here we are.

Montecito93108's avatar

Eric: if we don’t rebuttal, hold these media mouthpieces accountable, their fiefdom grows. They’re already embolden, funded, supported by public dollars, UCSB, SBCC, Mickey & David Flacks, Sara McCune and the left’s holders of power in Santa Barbara. Now even the former SB NewsPress is owned by progressive left, and operated by UC Berkeley’s Josh Molina who is paid by taxpayers to teach propaganda journalism at SBCC. Who subscribes to this?

The former Chairwoman of the SBCC Journalism Dept/ then Faculty Senate President had to be sued to allow free speech at a public meeting. She turned off mic and lights, instructed faculty sheep to vacate the public meeting room to prohibit public comment when she saw the speaker (a non-Democrat faculty). Harmeet Dhillon, now U.S. Civil Rights Chief, was the attorney on that case; plus a separate case against slanderous, dangerous Jonathan Abboud now president of the SBCC Trustee Board. Jerry Roberts sensationalizes untruths because he can!

Are you saying give up the fight? I say find more to battle their coerced oppression of speech, thought, and participation. Find non-Democrat electable, common sense candidates, donors and volunteers.

If the google translated correctly, you now wish to insult someone? 😆

Tell ya what, learn English and return. These internet text discussions are hard enough as it is when both sides speak the same language.

Just a thought.
