Mr. Summer: Having been born and raised in New England, I can tell you that Kennedy didn't always call Cuba "Cuber." In New England grammar, we always – always – liaison any word that ends in a vowel followed by another word that begins with a vowel with the letter "r". Hence, when JFK would say, "Cuber is not the enemy," the "r" liaisons with "is." But, Had he said "Cuba needs us," he would pronounce Cuba properly. Just saying...

Thank you for your telling it like it is! How can the next generation learn from history when it is not taught? More power to you ! Keep telling your story!!

These democrat communist party members have obviously had no history in school, or failed miserably. Perhaps they only learned Cesar Chavez. They call everyone nazis, yet admit they are commies, and pay for the kkk and skin heads to protest. What they dont know is if the communists took over this country, they would be the first ones sent to the work camps and executed. None of them have jobs and the are useless to the common good. There is no welfare in communist countries. Why, there are even rich people in communist countries. When it comes to the bottom line, unlike Marxism, the elite run the country and the middle class is obliterated. Go to Vietnam and see how it all worked out for them. Millions would be murdered, and they would be the first to go because they have NOTHING to contribute.

Thank you for the trip down memory lane and reminding us of how we got to the dysfunctional state we find ourselves in. It would seem to me, that the tipping point for the Democratic Party was the 68’ Convention in Chicago which turned into a violent, unruly mob, made worse by the Democratic Mayor, Richard Daley. So, what has changed since then? Absolutely nothing!

Today, we find the vast majority of blue cities as “no go zones.” Chicago, LA, NY, Portland, Seattle and on and on. The common denominator? All Democratic controlled hell holes.

We now find ourselves held hostage by Sanctuary Cities which beholden low skilled, impoverished, uneducated sometimes violent illegal migrants over our own citizens. All paid for by, you guessed it, us!

The Democratic Socialist which runs our cities has made “resistance” a call to action for the oppressed. A grievance culture based on race and reparations. A society based on the oppressed and the oppressor. A society in which God has been replaced by Party.

Watching the LA Mayoral debate reminds us of how truly dysfunctional, disconnected and corrupt these people can be, but also gives us hope that finally, people are taking a stand.

That time is now.

John, thanks for the relook and walk through history. I remember all of that. The commie cause just won't relent!

John, thank you for this beautifully written piece. As I look at the degradation of our once beautiful City and State, I’m reminded daily that the Democrats (who have been taken over by Communists) don’t know how to do anything useful or beautiful. They only know how to break and ruin. They are true masters of corruption and destruction. This is no doubt the government representation that our Founding Fathers warned us about. Will California (Minnesota, NY, Colorado, et al) rise to the occasion of taking back our land, our rights, our ELECTIONS, or will we stand by idly and watch them torch it to the ground? They won’t give up their death grip of power easily.

May Day is in Truth the Feast of St. Joseph the worker - worker's welfare belongs ultimately to Christ, who reveals to us to the dignity of the lowly, not the revolutionary.

I remember being in college in the late 60’s standing on the periphery of crowds of young people, looking for excitement, watching them protest the Vietnam war. These were the same students who were experimenting with marijuana and enjoying freedom from being under their parents watchful gaze. These people are now grandparents, starting to suffer memory loss, have colored their hair, purple and green, and are waving signs about “no kings” and other nonsense, near Educated Car Wash. The most important thing for these geriatric protestors is that they need to be very close to bathrooms. It makes me laugh.

You hit the nail on the head with this article John. The teachers unions have conspired to stop teaching history to all these young skulls, full of mush for decades. And they did it for a reason. So that they could be so easily duped into accepting the notion of getting something for nothing. At least nothing on their part. Of course it’s paid for by the hard-working taxpayers with a work ethic just trying to better their own lives. Abolish the teachers unions and vote these Commies out of office.
