I'd add access to porn, sleep disruption, bullying, and reduced in-person social interactions as far more impactful replications than jumping to issues related to what is a small percentage of kids sexual identification. Because there's too much money to be made off of it for too many people. As far as I can tell, people who feel they're not the gender they were born with have been around forever. But for centuries this wasn't a goldmine for big pharma and the surgical industry. It was dealt with in a creative way. Look at Japanese theater, where one of the highest art forms is a male actor portraying to the point of convincingly becoming a woman onstage. The trans people I saw in NYC were extraordinary performers of the opposite sex to what they were given. Charles Ludlum's Ridiculous Theatrical Company was genius. The hardest hearted theater critics wept over his performance of Camille, saying it outdid Greta Garbo. And now we come to the difference between creation and destruction: art of the sort these drag performers did was, I believe, them channeling the divine spirit. What's so wrong about what's happening now with puberty blockers, gender changing surgery for children is the people doing it think they are higher than god. And when people believe that, they are channeling Satan. I'm sure some people reading this will say Satanists don't exist. But they do. I grew up where there were people practicing Satanism. Today, I attended the Title 9 event at the courthouse. Celeste Barber did a great job organizing it. The speakers were appropriate and inspiring. I wish more people had shown up.
It was a nice chronicle and celebration of the good that resulted from President Nixon signing it 52 years ago. Women’s sports went from obscurity to a more even playing field. What struck me as odd was that nothing was discussed about the rapidly occurring destruction of women’s sports by transgender men competing against women, and changing in their dressing rooms. Riley Gaines never came up, and the turmoil in women’s sports would seem to not exist as an issue. Kudos to Julie Bischoff for making a glancing remark in reference to this at the very end.
