It is situations like this which fuels the flames of general contempt for lawyers. Not all of them are despicable fraudsters and predators, but enough are, besmirching the whole profession.
There was a fellow who would go to businesses and then file lawsuits about ADA violations. The State Bar and the State Supreme Court a) barred him from any further lawsuit, and b) made it clear that law firms that participate in predatory shake down practices will face the same results.
The fact that local attorney's and their association have not, as a group, stated this was and is an abuse of law. Where is the sanctioning of these attorney's? It is stand up time for a profession that has more then a few jokes about ethical failures.
It has to stop. Yet at the same time government seems willing to create obvious ADA violations and shrug and state we are above the law.
