Jesus told us that "...they will hate you..." Of course He knew of the opposition The Good News Club would face. We are grateful for the tenacity and faith driven strength of the leaders in this effort. May God eliminate barriers and clear a path for this program to grow and flourish. Thank you for sharing. In a world filled with craziness it's calming to hear of this outreach to our kids. Blessings
Interesting how the woke left deems anything Christian, patriotic or traditional conservative values as “hate speech.” Sure, any speech that puts into question the accuracy of climate change, gender ideology or DEI orthodoxy are immediately denounced and silenced. This has been especially true at local school board meetings, whereby public speakers are FORBIDDEN from exercising their first amendment rights of free speech in reciting biblical verses in order to support their Christian values.
Ironically, this standard is not applicable on college campuses when it comes to a wide swathe of radical views. Yes, students on today’s college campuses are encouraged by faculty and others to let their “freak flag fly!” Especially, if it is response to antisemitism, hatred of our President or in support of queer values.
All of these activities are straight out of “Rules for Radicals” playbook by Saul Alinsky and closely aligned to the Communist Manifesto.
Kudos to the Trump Administration for pulling the plug on these radical, tax funded cabals of intolerance. Very ironic how the woke left, once prided itself on free speech, sharing of ideas and open, nonviolent dialogue.
The final insult? Christians are attacked and prevented from expressing their views while non-citizens are allowed and celebrated for their anti-American views in support of terrorist organizations.
Indeed Howard, hate is a terrible thing. You mentioned Africa. Just yesterday, Trump called out the President of South Africa for the racist genocide of white farmers in South Africa, committed by black nationalists.
Why no press coverage, no demonstrations, no taking over of public buildings?
“speech is violence”. This plays into social media justice where people are tried outside of court with no facts & no evidence.
For example the three boys killed on Rte 1, a ND poster said the other car, a Tesla, swerved into the boys lane.
Completely false, contradicted the Noozhawk & Ed Hat article. But the poster was using the death if three boys to make an emotional attack on Tesla, thereby Elon.
Despite multiple people posting the news articles & asking him to remove his post he refused.
There’s only one group of people I HATE - those miserable little-dick losers - big game killers. Standing off 200 yards and killing a Lioness feeding her cubs, Leopards taking a nap in a tree or an Elephant eating his lunch. Killing them for no reason.
If I had the money I’d hire a pro to cruise Africa big game country and show these morons what it’s like to be hunted!
I want to thank the author for participating in the discussion today. I feel that providing further clarity and both answering questions and engaging in further conversations really helps the discussion.
The after school "Good News Club" sounds like a good thing, especially since the children participating require their parents permission. I am old enough to remember when first graders stood to say the "Our Father" at the beginning of the school day. Those who wished not to participate were invited to leave the room. One of the people leaving the room was my first grade teacher, who was Jewish. Others leaving the room included Japanese-American Buddhists, Jehovah's Witnesses, Catholics (who didn't consider a prayer with non-Catholics to be "real"), and others who believed that a ritualistic group prayer was both sacrilegious and hypocritical, or contrary to their religious confession's version of the "truth." Vetting the members of the "Good News Club" with a parent's approval should help eliminate the followers of any Christian doctrinal confession or other religious persuasion not willing to accept whatever this club's version of the "truth" is. Just so you know, this "Club" is promoting what its leaders believe to be the truth, not actual truth itself. Jesus told us "I am the truth" and then went on to tell us to "welcome the stranger" (immigration), "feed the hungry" (SNAP, WIC, USAID), and "love thy neighbor" even if they are Brown or Black or Gay, or an atheist or a Democrat (D.E.I.). Let us all pray that the Children of the "Good News Club" are learning these important "truths."
You touch upon an important point. Appreciating that everyone is born in the image of God goes a long way in diminishing the need for intersectionality rankings.
If you think public schools are the places to “bring the Gospel” you have to open the schools up to all the religions and cults. Islam, Satanism, Scientology… come on people, THINK.
SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE. YOU ARE DISCREDITING CHRISTIANITY.
Maybe you could volunteer as an aide in the classroom, teach a child to read, become a math tutor, work in the elementary library, coach an after school team and teach Sunday School at your chosen church. I am a Christian and also a citizen who supports the 1st Amendment. Get involved with the educational system by helping kids succeed in school.
The first amendement has destroyed Christendom far more than wokism has. The liberal pressuposition that there is no truth, there is no God, no morals - and that all beliefs and religions should hold the same value in the "market place of ideas" is the greatest error of the 1700's - and today. Liberalism is a sin - and the first ammendment is one the greatest liberal sins of our time. The first ammendment crushed the Social Kingship of Christ and rendered the true faith into a purely private devotional and aesthetic relic.
Perhaps you had better bone up on European history from about 1400-1700. The Founders of the United States were VERY aware of that history of religious persecution and government with a state religion. They knew EXACTLY what those dangers were and put up the guardrail of the 1st Amendment. Seriously, do some studying.
Nonsense. The protestant revolution was a very specific event which was a social, political, and religioud movement. It was not just a religious rebellion that threatened the unity of a Christian Europe. Princes, nobles, and other leaders began to seize Church lands and property out of envy for the Church's wealth and influence. Many rulers who chaffed under Catholic/Papal domination used the protestant heresies to refuse submission to the Petrine See. There was no similar widespread conflicts with the West/East Schism, for all their historical tensions, Catholics and Eastern Orthodox largely lived the same as they always had - no the blame for "Wars of Religion" fall soley on protestants for disrupting Christendom in Europe. Worse, the Protestant Revolt's undermining of Papal and Catholic authority would of course influence the enlightenment degenerate concepts of "individual rights" and question monarchical authority as well - as well as promoting secularism - if you can question the Pope, why not Christ too? Again, the Protestant revolt was a *social, political, and economic revolution* - it was not a mere theological dispute, but a disruption of the social and political order much the same as the french and American revolutions.
The Founders were perverse people, freemasons and liberals who were neither moral nor wise, they were the ones who stomped on Christendom and helped ensure the death of the Social Kingship of Christ. I suggest you do some studying on why Christendom fell and why we live in this mess of an age where Christ no longer influencrs all aspects of life, publically and privately. And please tell us how the first amendment has done any good for Christianity, because it hasn't. Refusing to recognize Truth and deeming all religions as worthy of respect is demonic, "freedom of religion" is in truth anti Christianity disguised as pluralism - truth is sullied and discarded, and error is given legitimacy. Indeed, thr moment you try and introduce even the most inocuous clubs like thr Good News Club as an after school program, liberals and secularist freak out - because they recognize thr fact that the First Amendment advances secularism, not Christianity and that it was precisely the first amendment that drove Christ out of schools and all aspects of public life. Indeed, there were Satanists, Humanists, and Secularists in our home town of Santa Barbara were seething over a club (The Good News Club) which gives kids pizza and dares to mention Christ - there was a whole demonic meltdown on the liberal newsite "Edhat" back in March I think.
It's also telling you couldn't respond to the point I made about how the first amendment is a corrosive ideal, not a noble concept for Christinaity. No instead you pivot to a liberal dimissive arguement "but the "Wars of Religion!" - which is a cope for those who don't understand history.
Nice mansplaining....imagine a far rightist who "believes" (not thinks) that opinions expressed by women are incorrect just "because"...AND, if you can question the Pope, why not READ the Gospels. (Quite different than questioning Christ.)
The irony is that today the Supreme Court wrongly ruled (IMHO) that it is unconstitutional for the state to fund religious charter schools. The Court was deadlocked with one conservative Trump-appointed Justice abstaining and another conservative Justice voting with the liberal bloc. I believe the 1st Amendment was not intended to completely sever the link between state and religion. Instead, it was to ensure the state didn't elevate one religion over the others. Of course, there would be need to be state and even federal laws to ensure we didn't use public funds for religions that preached violence or hatred for America.
Yeah, leaving aside your canard that anyone wants to open the schools to crackpot religions and cults, it's a relief to know that our secular union-controlled public schools have done such a great job educating and inculcating values in our children. Fact: Catholic school students scored two grade levels above their public school counterparts.
Then we should address why the schools are performing the way they are instead of bringing damn religions into the mix, which is going to screw things up even more. People don’t want their kids to be brainwashed by a form of Judaism, they want them to be able to read, write and do math to the best of their abilities.
The point is that by law and policy any District resident can apply for facility use before and after school. When complying with the terms, including proof of liability insurance, requested space is to be made available. Some SBUSD principals creatively are in violation, uncoooperative gatekeepers to block access. Sadly we’ve no recourse because the SBUSD Superintendents tend to back principals in their non-compliance. In Westside D3, there was to be no candidate forum for voters to meet candidates. I was asked to apply, post insurance bond for $5M, to help organizers access Harding School. About a dozen phone calls, an appeal, the threat of a lawsuit, the library with toddler sized chairs was finally made available. An estimated 200+ Westsiders attended the 3 hour candidate meet & greet followed by Q&A.
A similar experience at Franklin. After accessing the auditorium for the D1 candidate event, principal turned off power to microphone, ordered 150 estimated attendees to leave. She had her favorite candidate and did not like how Q&A proceeding. I spoke out, showed the signed contract with its terms. The audience observed. We had to depart with electricity turned off. Heads were shaking. Lesson taught and learned.
What you described is reminiscent of George Wallace’s Alabama in the 60’s. This is clearly in violation of free speech and free assembly. How to change this behavior? Either file a lawsuit against SBUSD or complaint filed by DOJ Civil Rights Division.
James, can you bullet point exactly what defines WOKE as expressed in your post? As much detail as possible would help me better understand your POV. Thanks
Thank you for your question, Gene. I apologize for not clearly defining "woke" in the article. I would describe "woke" as an overly performative and dogmatic focus on moral or social issues—often related to race, gender, or inequality—characterized by sanctimonious activism and intolerance for differing views. In contrast, the Good News Club offers a more inclusive framework, especially for young children, to understand the world and engage with it constructively. For example, consider the racial and transgender ideologies sometimes promoted in schools. Through a biblical lens, such as Genesis, which states that God created both man and woman in His image, children learn that all humans are inherently valuable (no mater how they look or act) and that biological distinctions between boys and girls matter (e.g., in contexts like girls' sports and Title IX). This perspective fosters respect and clarity without pushing divisive ideologies, unbounded by biological realities. I happy to discuss more.
Thank you for the clarification. If I understand correctly, you simply want the ideologies and dogma of the Good News Club to be part of the public school curriculum?
Not exactly. I want families to have choice on how to raise their children. I see the Good News Club as an antidote to the current no choice tax payer funded monopoly as well as a place to find deeper meaning, reflection and perhaps inner improvement. While a believer myself, I appreciate that free will is key for everyone.
I believe I understand your goal of offering various points of view. The challenge I always face in public schools versus private schools is where to draw the line and how to present it.
As I understand it, The Good News Club represents the evangelical approach to doctrine. Most studies show that about 1/3 of US Christians identify as such.
My question is how do you include the doctrines of the other 150+ Christian schools of thought and the balance of children's parents who identify as:
Catholic
Judaism
Islam
Hinduism
Buddhism
Sikhism
Agnosticism and atheism
Other beliefs including Wicca, Austronesian, Sati, etc.
Do you think public schools have the time, budget, and knowledge to teach the dogma and tenants of the various religious faiths fairly? To me, that's why we have faith-based schools: so they can create a curriculum that matches the wants of the parents taking this path. It could be Conservative Christian, Jewish, Catholic, Muslim, etc.
Thanks for the conversation. It is always good to learn other points of view and I do appreciate yours.
If there are parents who want their children taught Wicca, bless their souls…as I mentioned earlier the choice of religious basis should be determined by the parents. The downside in either providing a complete smorgasbord of religious options verses none at all, means that administrators have opted for none, save that of the woke religion. That has left many children spiritually starved and unprepared for the world ahead. The Good News club helps fill some of that void.
As a teacher, I can't imagine schools petitioning every parent for feedback on what to include in their child's classroom religious teachings and writing a curriculum that meets the parents' mandates and the Constitution. I'd run away from that as fast as possible if I were an administrator.
"My question is how do you include the doctrines of the other 150+ Christian schools of thought and the balance of children's parents who identify as:
Catholic
Judaism
Islam
Hinduism
Buddhism
Sikhism
Agnosticism and atheism
Other beliefs including Wicca, Austronesian, Sati, etc."
It's obvious. Catholic teaching alone is incorporated. All other errors are ignored. Besides, only 3 religions even claim truth and salvation, Christianity, Judaism, and Islam - so spare me this "well there's lot'a of religions! Why is yours true!"
While not getting into the issues of faith, finding the following quote from this article interesting: " prioritizing equal outcomes over facts. "
This is happening all over the government spectrum. CAB fought the latest roundabout in Santa Ynez stating it would increase accidents as did the 150/246 disaster. They have already experienced a jack knife truck accident at predicted (less than 6 months olf).
We fought with the help of Friends of San Ysidro the now really stupid roundabouts at Jamison lane and Olive Mill and Coast Village Rd. When speaking before the Board of Supervisors Tuesday we pointed out a $2.5 million project on the back side of Ortega hill (bike and walking) was un-needed in part because of a decade old bike $4.0+ bike path on the ocean side of the hill (thanks Sup. Schwartz).
"Equal outcomes" leads now to a project promoting walking to Coast Village Road through 2 roundabouts that are not ADA Compliant nor pedestrian friendly on the million dollar Jamison path that has failed to produce any significant pedestrians or bikes. I can go on with the arrogance of the County and people like Friedman on the SB Council who does seem to care about facts vs. equal outcomes.
We are faced with arrogance and hostility over fact, when the losers are faced with the hard outcome of failure. "Disruption" of society after having decades of power and influence. They have and are being challenged by what is the majority, who have too long been silent.
The opposition is now being challenged to back up their positions with their own dollars to revert what has failed. After they used our tax money against us and are now arrogant enough to think they should not pay for their failures.
To quote Mr. Fenker: "This shift leads to suppressing inconvenient facts,...." and this shift has left them (the other side) holed up in citadels of government treasuries where they continue to hammer the majority knowing the average person and the more successful of their opposition will not pour out money to fight them.
I was questioned about the wording "who does seem to care about facts vs. equal outcomes."
It was and is intentional. After 26 years of looking at our opposition they have and continue to state they are "concerned" about the facts when in "fact" (like that one?) they have lost and are left with philosophical fantasy land.
Facts? To quote the spaghetti western..... we don't need no stink'n facts.
So, if we are teaching the bible and Christian values in schools should we not also be teaching Muslin and atheist values so our children have a truly fair and balanced education?
Unfortunately, the pursuit of MLK’s knowledge and character is not the same as fair and balanced (isn’t that an old Fox News motto or was it CNN?) The reality is that our schools are currently agnostic (at best) and militantly atheist (at woke worst) none of which helps children explore important moral issues and develop skills for dealing with humanity’s vast diversity of challenges. You raise an excellent question in what should the basis of moral training be? My hunch? Let the parents decide, not just the woke administrators.
I would agree that the parents should decide what religious training their children get. I was raised Catholic and attended Christian Doctrine teaching with other Catholic kids in our church. Our local public school had nothing more than “The Lord’s Prayer,” which we recited every morning. The Jewish kids were quiet, and after we said “Amen.” we were quiet while the protestants added, “For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, For ever and ever. Amen.” I don’t recall any other religious teaching in the public schools. If parents are concerned about teaching their children “Christian Values,” I prefer they do it at home or send them to parochial schools.
Understood. I think given our current cookie cutter structure of public schools, the Good News Club is a good solution. It is afterschool hours and allows those who wish to participate to do so.
No you don't. Error has no rights. Only if you accept enlightenment presuppositions does error get taught alongside truth. What you fail to understand McGrune is *not everyone respects the revolution. Not everyone respects the marketplace of ideas. And some people have values, unlike you.*
*This post was made by Carlism gang - lator gator.*
Take your religion and keep it in your church. We’re sick of people cramming theology because we never asked you what you think of God. The kids are there to learn how to read and write and do math, not sit while a religion associated with child abuse itself is spewed onto their minds, they have things to do in their lives.
🥱. Secularism is not a neutral ideology - and no, the Church belongs in all apects of soceity, influencing our lives publically and privately.
"A religion associated with-" nice reddit tier arguement, let's just ignore the abuse that happens in schools, cause only the Church can be condemned for sinners I guess. Yet ironically you would refuse to "hang millstones" around the necks of abusers - and cast them into the sea.
Yes McGrune, you have things to do - like repent and be baptized.
This is your Church, which is also a major player in the UN’s Social Development Goals (Catholic does mean Universal, so no, we don’t want a One World Government through your religion but it’s clear you do).
Yes. We should remove abusers (mostly homosexual men) from the priesthood. Glad we agree - sorry buddy, but the Church will always be attacked by the devil - it doesnt' mean it's not true. Try harder.
Jesus told us that "...they will hate you..." Of course He knew of the opposition The Good News Club would face. We are grateful for the tenacity and faith driven strength of the leaders in this effort. May God eliminate barriers and clear a path for this program to grow and flourish. Thank you for sharing. Both the schools and the church do this, unfortunately and it’s sickening. Yes, schools also cover the abuse like the church.

Most people who reject Jesus don’t understand how much he loves them.
Enough to die for them.
John 14-6.
I am the way the truth and the life.No one comes to the father but by me.
Also,
Jesus is one of three things.
He is either crazy, the biggest con artist in history or he is who he says he is.
People please get to know him.
He is the ONLY one who can save you.

It's obvious. Catholic teaching alone is incorporated. All other errors are ignored. Besides, only 3 religions even claim truth and salvation, Christianity, Judaism, and Islam - so spare me this "well there's lot'a of religions! Why is yours true!"
I had a feeling you'd opt for Catholic teachings. I love your convictions about your beliefs and the Church. How are you feeling about Pope Leo XIV?

?? Which spaghetti western was that??
Treasure of the Sierra Madre "we don't need no stinking badges"
John Huston - director
But definitely an American western - not Italian.
Who is teaching the other side of the current Green Dogma that now dominates public education across the curriculum.
Yes, if you teach the Bible in schools you have to teach Satanism and Islam and all that. These dimwits don’t get it.
No you don't. Error has no rights. Only if you accept enlightenment presuppositions does error get taught alongside truth. What you fail to understand McGrune is *not everyone respects the revolution. Not everyone respects the marketplace of ideas. And some people have values, unlike you.*

There have been many cases of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexual_abuse_of_children by https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic_priests, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nun, and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexual_abuse_scandals_in_Catholic_orders_and_societies of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religious_life in the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic_Church. In the late 20th and early 21st centuries, the cases have involved several allegations, investigations, trials, convictions, acknowledgement and apologies by Church authorities, and revelations about decades of instances of abuse and attempts by Church officials to cover them up.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic_Church_sexual_abuse_cases#cite_note-3 The abused include mostly boys but also girls, some as young as three years old, with the majority between the ages of 11 and 14.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic_Church_sexual_abuse_cases#cite_note-shuffled_worldwide-4https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic_Church_sexual_abuse_cases#cite_note-5https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic_Church_sexual_abuse_cases#cite_note-6https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic_Church_sexual_abuse_cases#cite_note-7 Criminal cases for the most part do not cover sexual harassment of adults. The accusations of abuse and cover-ups began to receive public attention during the late 1980s.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic_Church_sexual_abuse_cases#cite_note-8 Many of these cases allege decades of abuse, frequently made by adults or older youths years after the abuse occurred. Yes. We should remove abusers (mostly homosexual men) from the priesthood. Glad we agree - sorry buddy, but the Church will always be attacked by the devil - it doesnt' mean it's not true. Try harder.
