You're saying that Schiff's strategy will lead to a November contest between Schiff and Garvey, and you think this is dirty politics. You also say that if he didn't do this, the November election would instead pit Schiff against Porter. Is that what you want? I'm guessing that you'd just be back here writing an article complaining that Republicans have no option on the ballot. (Lord knows you guys love to complain). You should be happy that Schiff is helping Garvey. It could backfire spectacularly, and it may be the only chance Republicans have to capture this seat.

By the way, I love how you say that Democrats are so "cunning and devious" while implying that Republicans are somehow above board and naive. Have you never heard of Lee Atwater, Karl Rove, Grover Norquist, Mitch McConnell ...?

The GOP is in transition. The old guard you mention is not relevant to the the new GOP base. We thank they for their service, but they are no longer the future of the conservative movement - which is more populist, than elite. New GOP is becoming a very broad tent and looking far more like America from the ground up. Not the top down.

Oh you don't need to tell me the GOP is changing. I've been around a long time. My point was that Republicans (even the "new" ones) are just as devious when it comes to politics as Democrats. To think otherwise is just ignorant.

Anyway, good luck with the new GOP. Boebert, Gaetz, MTG, Santos et al – if this is what America looks like from the ground up, God help us all.

Santos was already sent packing by his own party. Boebert, Gaetz and MTG are bright, fresh, cutting edge new faces for a new generation, who have already proven their value. They are the ones inheriting this massive Democrat public debt inflicted on their generation. Hear them out.

One more thing. Santos was not sent packing by his own party. Initially, only a few Republicans from his home state wanted him out. In the end, when the extent of his outrageous crimes became too embarrassing, a minority of Republicans voted to expel him. The majority of Republicans voted against expulsion, including (you guessed it) Boebert, Gaetz and MTG.

Yes, I would like to Garvey to win but I'm a realist so I know it's not likely to happen. It doesn't help that he is being outraised 20 to 1. I am merely telling you what Schiff and his crew are doing, and if it leads to some miracle and Garvey is elected, then trust me I will be a very happy camper.

Congressman Adam SCHIFF, who spent two years [knowingly] and unlawfully lying and leaking, should be forced to resign from Congress! [Knowingly] disseminating FALSE information is illegal.

REMEMBER THIS IMPORTANT FACT. ADAM SCHIFF IS PART OF THE 'GANG OF EIGHT' (INTEL)…

LOGICAL Q: IF ADAM SCHIFF 'KNEW' EVERYTHING HE'S INVESTIGATING AND STATING PUBLICLY TO BE KNOWINGLY 'FALSE' [DISINFORMATION] WHY THEN WOULD HE TAKE THE COURSE OF ACTION(S) (ONGOING)?

If [AS] was privy to GANG OF EIGHT classified material would he not know the same FACTS (TRUTH) as NUNES? Think NUNES memo v SCHIFF.

"Knowingly." What if it was coordinated?

Why did [SCHIFF] push false 'Russia evidence' narrative post closed door interviews [no evidence of collusion]?

Why did [SCHIFF] coordinate w/ WH NSC [through proxy] to arrange for Ukraine whistleblower?

Why did [SCHIFF] actively leak knowingly false statements during-post classified sessions to MSM?

Why did [SCHIFF] illegally surveil [phone] members of WH legal team, media, and Congress?

Adam Schiff is a traitor to our Great Nation…

Good analysis, Lou. As a general rule if you want B, you do A. You don't do A, in hopes you will really get C. That can just as often lead to the law of unintended consequences.

Eg: Schiff pushes GOP Garvey to be his opponent, because he does not want to run against fellow Democrat Porter. Schiff's real goal is to pick the easiest candidate Schiff thinks he can beat (C). But in the process, Schiff is raising the profile of GOP Garvey, who may well not be so easy to beat.

And perhaps Schiff has under-estimated the Porter forces, once Porter takes the Schiff knife out of her back. Rick Grennell's FixCalifornia campaign is registering many new GOP voters. The coveted Independent voter in this state will determine the final outcome; not cynical Democrat special interest political manipulations.

Of course Schiff is sitting on massive special interest campaign cash, but voters are more than ready to finally toss the depredations of special interests in this state who have clearly driven it into ruin. Money in politics buys access, and publicity. Since online campaign communication with voters today can be virtually free, any candidate "raising a lot of money" is simply telling the world today he is up for sale.

Well said Lou. I enjoyed your article and agree with you wholeheartedly. I voted for early, but I didn’t think he would be able to pull off a win in November because of his enthusiastic Trump support. Don’t you think Garvey has a better chance of winning in the fall? Know it’s just a pie in the sky. Hope of a Republican winning a Senate seat in California but if anyone could, I thought he had the appeal to do it. I hope all is well with you and your family.

Warm regards, Brian Mac Isaac

Hi Brian, I have great memories of Little League with you and all the other old-timers. Yes, if any Republican could beat Schiff, it would be Garvey. He was a great baseball player who still has name recognition with older voters, although Giants fans may not be so enamored of him. It will be a very uphill climb in a state where a Republican hasn't won a statewide office since 2006.

Hope you're doing well too. I remember your son. Is he living in Santa Barbara?

It seemed laughable when very junior senator Kamala Harris stated she intended to run for POTUS. Got zero traction, and had to drop out before the first vote was counted. Venerable Diana Feinstein told her to wait. But here we are, she is now one heart beat away from POTUS. An example of cray-cray-crazy things that can and do happen in politics. Garvey 2024.

Smart, concise analysis, Lou. BTW, shortly I am off to buy a dozen bagels at Spudnuts Ontare/State. Recommendation from YOU by way of my boy. A great New York bagel is far more necessary than who's going to win what! (I remain a purist, the water bagel for me.)

They are the closest to NY bagels that I could find in town. They are the only place that makes a real garlic bagel which I know your boy likes. I have many issues with the state I grew up in, but I will readily admit they are miles ahead of everyone else in their bagels, pizza, baked good and pastries and deli sandwiches.

Schiff should be in jail, but that will never happen. Second, the Republican central committee in SB is full of Trotskyites and RINO's and needs to be conpletely dissolved. Third, instead of concentrating on Washington DC, we here in California need to laser focus on taking our own state back from the power brokers. Meaning, we should find cracker jack candidates with utmost integrity and a spine of titanium in positions of governor of California and the state legislature. Until we focus on getting our state back, absolutely nothing will change. If California goes to hell, so does the rest of the nation.

To say Steve Garvey is a good man is quite a stretch. Though known as the golden boy during his time with the Dodgers after divorcing his wife, he later later fathered two babies in the same year, not marrying either of the mothers. He is estranged from the children of his first marriage.

I wouldn’t say he has great decision-making skills, but has only leaned on his glory days as a Dodger. Is this the best the Republicans can do? A has been baseball player? Where are the Republicans with substance? Sure he’ll probably win because of the name recognition but California deserves better.

Yes: Your primary point is correct, and well taken. ... I think it's also too late. I remember trying to explain Democrat tactics to Republicans after my own "red-pill" conversion 35 years ago. Only to be met with glassy eyed bewilderment.

To this day, most Republicans act as if they have literally never tried to herd cats ... much less recognized the overwhelming dishonesty of our political class in both parties. Meanwhile those of us living on the front lines have many observations that would falsify most of the views of the political class as to what voters want, how voters behave, who votes, and what they vote for. And never mind election fraud; that'll have to wait for the book I'm never going to write.

God bless America ... ;-)

Expand full comment
Chase's avatar

Sure.

Firstly, can we agree that there is a blackmail pedophilia ring likely backed and run by a combination of the CIA, Mossad, and MI6 that has infiltrated western politics and western cultural figures? That is all objectively true. Once we can agree on that we can have a specific discussion about Schiff.

Assuming that you've done the research and agree that the aforementioned blackmail ring is a very real thing, let's talk about Schiff specifically. If you look at the myriad of false narratives that Schiff has pushed for the last decade it is clear that he does not represent his constituents but he is instead a puppet. Now you can ask yourself, how does one become a puppet for these powerful entities? Well, we know the answer, they are blackmailed and subsequently controlled.

I do not have hard evidence that Adam Schiff is a compromised pedophile, obviously. But I am smart enough and well-read-enough to understand that if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck it's probably a duck. And if I had to put my life savings on a politician being a pedophile, Schiff would be near the top of that list.

Firstly, no, absolutely NOT, we cannot agree that there is a "blackmail pedo ring" made up of and backed by CIA, Mossad, and MI6. LOL! That is a proven conspiracy theory and blatantly UNTRUE. I agree with S. Schroeder that we do not need to color outside the lines to know that Schiff is a terrible person. Just recall all the lies and decisiveness he created with the Russia collusion probe.

Expand full comment
Chase's avatar

I somewhat agree with this. My counter would be: Why was he spearheading the obviously false Russia narrative against Trump? Because he just likes to lie and doesn't like Trump? Or because he is being controlled by someone behind the scenes?

When you put all of the pieces together and you realize that political blackmail is a very real thing, it becomes glaringly obvious as to why some of these politicians lie through their teeth on such a consistent and transparent basis. I am of the opinion that Schiff is one of these controlled politicians. Surely we can agree that some of our politicians are compromised and controlled, right? What do you think Jeffrey Epstein was doing? Was he just collecting tapes of powerful people for the fun of it? Or was he working for someone?
