This is so well said, Andy ! We can only hope and pray that the tsunami of faith and courage and belief in God coming from the assassination of Charlie Kirk will mobilize a generation of young people who realize that without that, our society is doomed. Come quickly Lord Jesus- in the hearts and minds of the countries, which at one time were known as Christendom.

Throughout our culture and heritage there are those who think they can replace God, who get into power through false propaganda and brilliant but destructive PR ( Prop 50 !?) who care only for themselves and their cohorts. History too has shown that it is always a small courageous group who know that man is basically good who change the world and reignite the innate moral compass. Thank you Andy for standing up . We all can, every day!

The shocking thing for many people are the women (not all young, many are over 40 and even Boomers) who are cheering on these assassinations of Charlie Kirk, Brian Thompson and the attempted ones of Trump. I'm not a Christian — but I can connect this to the feminist worship of abortion. Duh. If you get can convince women that the greatest threat to them is taking away their right to kill the living being they've created — and kill it just because, hey, it's just not the right time to be a mom, then you are more effective at enlisting women than Charlie Manson.

Interesting documentary on Netflix I watched last night, connecting the dots between Manson, Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme (and other followers) and the clandestine CIA “MK Ultra” program. Whereby, using a bizarre cocktail of LSD, hypnosis and programming could be used to create a zombie like assassin or Manchurian Candidate.

The dots further connected by CIA shrink, Louis West who coincidentally worked in a free clinic in Haight Ashbury which the Manson family frequented.

Adding to the theory was that Dr. West also examined Jack Ruby after his failed attempt at suicide.

I really enjoyed the rabbit hole book Chaos. Goes into all that.

LT's avatar

Knowing what we know now and given all the revelations, would anyone be shocked to learn that Ruby and Oswald were both MK Ultra subjects or Guinea Pigs?

Sawbilly's avatar

“Chaos” the book is great. I bet the documentary LT highlights is too.

You know how we all tend to look at rabbit holes and hold back a bit? After all, we know that you could spend years looking into the JFK assassination, for instance, and emerge not really knowing the answer. Well, it’s as though the author of “Chaos” said, “Screw it, I’m going to go down every rabbit hole I run into! No holding back!!!” Somebody had to, I guess.

At the end of his adventure he confesses that in fact, despite years of research, he hasn’t been able to come to many definitive conclusions. Surprise surprise. But for a reader it’s a very fun ride.

Indeed Andy, not only is the “fruits” of liberalism rotten, but the tree is as well. The left’s ongoing war on religion and faith is well known, documented and right out of the Communist Manifesto. Is anyone really surprised by the seemingly continual rash of political assaults, murders and assassinations? Don’t be, it’s nothing new and has been happening in our country for some time. One need only look back in history to find the many demented individuals which carried out these diabolical acts.

John Wilkes Booth, a devout racist from the South. Ditto for James Earl Ray. Lee Harvey Oswald, a devout Marxist and radical leftist. John Hinkley, “Squeaky” Fromme, Sirhan-Sirhan (from the original “Free Palestine” crowd), the list goes on and on as a list of who’s who of down and out, loners and losers, all having ties to leftist ideologies. What a surprise!

Today’s assassins and mass shooters seem to have a common denominator in their motivations. There appears to be issues with gender identity or sexual orientation as part of a recurring, sickening theme.

Interesting how the FBI is remaining tight lipped on the exact profiles and dossiers of these desperate individuals which seem to have veto power over our government and society. Why? Does the trail lead directly to the “Rainbow” culture and the Democratic Party by proxy?

Since you brought up some famous assassinations, consider this. The ages of the assassins, back then and now. I think what you attribute to politics, I attribute to being young. . . and impressionable to the point of stupidity, then criminal. Check this out, the ages of the killers, or would be.

John Wilkes Booth was 27.

Lee Harvey Oswald was 24.

John Hinkley was 27.

Sirhan-Sirhan was 24.

James Earl Ray, the old man in the group was 40.

The first Trump assassin was 20.

Charlie Kirk's assassin was 22.

LT, maybe it's not as political as you think. It could be something about angry young men.

And Squeaky Fromme was 27 when she tried to kill President Ford.

Dan O. Seibert's avatar

And I think I just screwed myself by looking up all of these killers on Wiki. I'm probably on a FBI watch list. . . .

I'm surprised that Wikipedia had the information, it's very biased. I don't think you have that to fear, but your search engine that you use, especially Google is far worse...

Ya Dano, I don’t know or claim to know what drives people to do evil deeds. I’d like to think that most people know the difference between good and evil. I do know what’s going on currently in our society is wrong, that much is clear. Violence in any and all form is wrong, as is defiance of authority and rule of law.

Sometimes, desperate times require forceful measures.

History will judge harshly those rioting in the streets and those untruthfully accusing others of repeating horrible war crimes during WW II.

Wow. Lee Harvey Oswald and Sirhan-Sirhan were so clearly fall guys to anyone with a fraction of brain cells. And here you are getting 8 likes. Not only does this page not care about the truth about Charlie Kirk, but apparenly doesn't even care about the truth of JFK and RFK, which literlaly everyone wants, including MAGA. All you people want is to divide and demonize "the left" instead of uniting against evil.

“Fall guys…fraction of brain cells? Ummm, okay I give up Angel, tell us all what YOUR two brain cells rubbing together tells us about Kirk, Oswald and Sirhan-Sirhan? Come on, set us straight on the truth, we’re all waiting….

Seems to me likely that the recent assassinations and attempts are perpetrated by Rx psychiatric drug-addled boys and trannies who act as Manchurian candidate patsies for a bigger Evil Agenda. They become the human face for the devolution of Society, but then the Media glorification of their political "philosophy" is embraced by the nihilistic and narcissistic who lives lives without any enthusiasm or purpose.

Without Faith in God, men will perish. It’s really that simple. Excellent essay Andy! Truth really is so simple to understand.

You nailed it! The Nation is on the wrong trajectory.

Well the EU is less religious than the US and I'd say in general more liberal. How many assassinations do you see over there? Plus wasn't Kirk's killer brought up in a solid religious conservative household before he went nuts?

Peter Scott's avatar

TJ; make that “Republican” solid religious household. Excellent observation about EU countries.

Michael Self's avatar

There doesn’t appear to be any strong voices in opposition from the population in the UE. They’ve successfully neutered the people.

We’re a bit more resistant to controlling governments.

Thomas John's avatar

Yeah, so I guess assassinations aren't about god as the author wrote, it's about neutering?

Sawbilly's avatar

Could be that the emptiness and lack of willpower that’s so common in the West these days manifests differently in different cultures. Here in the U.S.: assassination culture (along with other things). Over in Europe: insane, civilization-ending immigration. I don’t know which is preferable. Nice to see some real reaction against both cropping up. Grow a spine, Western Civ!

L. Angel's avatar

You have no idea that was even Charlie's killer though. Nor do you know he "went nuts."

Thomas John's avatar

Your comment is fair and accurate. Points taken.

Yes he was but then became liberal and roommate is transgender.

Here's a list of recent assisnations in Europe and other countries.

I don't believe your theory about religion in Europe is correct either.

Reply to Andy’s Column: “The Origins of the Assassination Culture”

Andy, excellent column and absolutely on point. What we’re witnessing is not just moral decay in society but a direct consequence of decades of academic and cultural engineering. Our universities have become the incubators for the very ideologies you describe, systems that elevate grievance over gratitude, identity over individuality, and emotion over reason.

Rather than cultivating moral strength, intellectual humility, or civic responsibility, academia has embraced a form of ideological activism that normalizes contempt for faith, family, tradition, and even the idea of objective truth. Students are taught that feelings outweigh facts and that dissent is violence, all while moral relativism replaces right and wrong.

It’s no wonder so many young people emerge disillusioned, angry, and disconnected from any higher sense of purpose. The result is exactly what you describe: nihilism, narcissism, and a willingness to rationalize violence in the name of “justice.”

If we’re serious about reversing this trend, the restoration must begin where the corruption took root — in education. A return to classical principles of truth, virtue, and faith is not nostalgia; it’s survival.

Great piece, smart and concise. And how to argue with any of it?

L. Angel's avatar

Tyler Robinson should not be included in this essay since so much evidence points towards him being a patsy. At least Andy wrote "allegedly" unlike Carolyn Aijian's irresponsible article weeks back. A month later and still not one article on here focused on wanting the truth about Charlie's assasination. You people must really care about the guy.

Bernard Gans's avatar

Andy, an excellent analysis and solution. Reading your article made me realize that the “assassination culture” is the fruit of narcissistic immaturity, that is, if I do not like it, I will eliminate it. Berney

Andy, your article is so spot on! Here are Solzhenitsyn’s own words:

A decline in courage may be the most striking feature, which an outside observer notices in the West in our days. The Western world has lost its civil courage, both as a whole and separately, in each country, each government, each political party, and, of course, in the United Nations. Such a decline in courage is particularly noticeable among the ruling groups and the intellectual elite, causing an impression of loss of courage by the entire society. Of course, there are many courageous individuals, but they have no determining influence on public life.

COURAGE IS WHAT CHARLIE KIRK GAVE THE WEST--GAVE HIS LIFE! It is the map to RETURN TO OUR FOUNDATION! I hope many come to C. Kirk Vigil on his Birthday, TUESDAY, 10/14, CARPINTERIA BAPTIST CHURCH, 800 MAPLE AVE. CARPINTERIA, CA 6PM

I suspect that this is not new, political and social violence have been around for a long time. I'll suggest, however, that your particular attribution of cause for the disruptions and divisions we see today is only partially accurate and the called for resolution, only partially correct. 50 years ago I read a statement that has stuck with me ever since: "A culture is born only and exclusively when the Unity has been discovered. Never before. Before this, there are separate groups in a tremendous territorial fight and nothing more." The unity of Christianity is found in acceptance of Jesus as personal savior, although there are divisions based on different interpretations of basic beliefs. Biden was correct, the US was founded on an Ideal and in a secular democracy, which the US is, its unity is found in a commitment to the ideals of its founding documents, including the explicit inclusiveness that accepts peoples of all religious beliefs, including atheists, so long as there is a commitment to the basic ideals of freedom of belief and conscience. Unfortunately, the natural tendency for people, especially the more dogmatic types, is to conflate the religious and the more general social/political and insist that their particular religious doctrines, or their particular secular beliefs, must be followed by all. A revival of values is needed, but a return to the past is a recipe for failure--it's a matter of education into what it means to be a citizen, not indoctrination into a particular religious belief system. Just off the highway a few miles south of Vancouver there are a Mosque, a Sikh Temple, and several Buddhist Temples. A couple of Christian Churches are nearby.
