With respect to the Democrat Party choosing hills to die on, there are too many to list. However, three such hills are now in prominent focus and the optics aren’t good for the progressives that are keen on destroying what is left of our humanity.
Hill #1 The Maiming of Children
I am certain that the only reporter in the state willing to cover the following story – which she did in spades – is Katy Grimes, editor of The California Globe. The story has to do with an evil state senator, Scott Wiener, who is trying to shield from scrutiny the drugs being used to maim and lame transgenders. Katy witnessed the following heart-wrenching testimony of Layla Jane, a transgender detransitioner, before a state assembly committee:
“Last time I testified, Senator Wiener claimed that what happened to me is rare. That only a microscopic number of children are undergoing gender interventions and that anyone who is saying otherwise is a liar. Look at my chest. I matter. At the age of twelve, I was approved for a double mastectomy – and went under the knife a couple weeks after I turned thirteen.
“Listen to my voice. Testosterone did this. My vocal cords are so large that I cannot scream and have difficulty speaking.
“Don’t you dare trivialize what happened to me. And lie to Californians that this is not happening. I am one of thousands and this bill is designed to hide the ever-growing number of kids being poisoned, sterilized, and maimed.
“Young females ages twelve to seventeen having their breasts removed increased thirteen-fold between 2013 and 2020 and continues to increase. The number of children ages six to seventeen placed on puberty blockers and hormones over a five-year period more than doubled to 1,400 and 4,200, respectively, and those don’t include my provider, Kaiser, the biggest chop shop on the West Coast. These are not microscopic numbers.
“Don’t you blame my parents, who were coerced into consenting because puberty blockers, testosterone, and surgeries, were the only treatment offered to address my cutting, suicidal ideation, and inability to function. Not one provider explored my autistic traits. Not one stopped to consider if my childhood sexual abuse was the reason I wanted to shed my female body. Not one said, ‘Your daughter is perfect the way she is.’”
“All of you should be panicked and ashamed, as you sit in silence or look at me with venom.”
Did you catch that? She was suicidal, cutting, autistic, and she suffered childhood sexual abuse and the prescription she got for all her ills was a sexual lobotomy.
Hill #2 The Night and Day of the Living Dead
This hill to die on posits that having mentally deranged, incapacitated, and drugged-out people wandering our streets in filth and vermin is somehow more compassionate than forcing these people into institutionalized care. As David Marcus writes in a column for Fox News, President Trump has signed an executive order “intended to bring back civil commitment, in other words, the ability to put people who are a danger to themselves or others in institutions, even against their will.”
Of course, the Left is in a tizzy. Here in California, we have spent tens of billions of dollars on the homeless and the problem has only grown worse. Moreover, as it relates to Governor Newsom, have doled out some $24 billion; he never bothered to track the effectiveness of his efforts. Here locally, the County of Santa Barbara, which has spent tens of millions on homeless programs, can at least tell you where the money went, albeit, as always, they will eventually run out of other people’s money to spend on these programs. That would include their spending over $1 million to create an all-electric kitchen in one of the shelters. That must be quite a kitchen!
Anyway, back to the Marcus piece, as he rightly points out, “What the Trump administration realizes and what the Democrats refuse to accept is that homelessness is, actually, two very distinct problems. One is financial, the other is a matter of addiction and mental health. Financial homelessness is easy to address. The evicted mother living in her car can be given temporary housing and job assistance. She really does just need a hand up.
“Homelessness related to mental illness and addiction, however, isn’t really a homelessness problem at all; it's an addiction and mental illness problem, and shockingly, just letting people in tents shoot up in what was once a thriving commercial district doesn’t solve it. As I have wandered the streets of these hellscapes in city after city, my question hasn’t really been if these people would be better off in an institution, but rather, if they weren’t in a de facto open-air institution already.
“What does it matter if these places lack walls and locks? They are cages nonetheless, cruel prisons whether voluntary or not.”
He got that right.
Hill # 3 Dead Conscience and Dead Babies
Planned Parenthood clinics nationwide are closing, but here on the Central Coast, it is “Katy bar the door!” This has to do with their hopes that a lawsuit will prevail challenging the constitutionality of Congress passing the Big Beautiful Bill that President Trump signed into law thereby eliminating funding for abortion providers who have been billing Medicare for their services even though, technically, they can’t use federal funds for killing babies in the womb. Laughably, PP is claiming their First Amendment rights are being violated by the new law. What would that be? Freedom of speech? The press? Religion?
I am going with religion here, as PP has managed to revive the religion of the God of Moloch from the Old Testament, whereby people were inspired to sacrifice their children on his altar signifying deep human depravity and rejection of God. After all, it can’t be easy to inspire women to maim and/or kill their maternal instinct and their innocent babies in one fell swoop without the help of pagan deities.
Andy Caldwell, Executive Director, COLAB
Any political party that becomes the only party in power will lose its soul - Democrat or Republican. And that's when the Devil will take over. Hello, Scott Wiener.
What has happened to humanity in America? How is it that thousands of Americans will protest and riot in the streets to support far away contestants in foreign wars, yet will not stand up publicly in the streets in thousands to protest the deliberate poisoning with drugs and irreversible mutilation with scalpels, of American children and teenagers?
How have the laws of childhood protection by parents, until the ages of 18 or 21 been thwarted by other adults engaged in satisfying their desire for personal power and money?
Katy Grimes is a brave, common-sense person on these issues. We should follow her lead.
By and large, the writers and readers of Santa Barbara Current are highly intelligent people.
Is this not an issue on which we should take action and provide support for efforts against politicians like Senator Scott Wiener and the psychologists and surgeons who make money providing the diagnosis decisions, the irreversible drugs, and the surgeries they use to butcher children in this state?
The Democratic Party might have a super-majority government in California, but they are not our masters and we are not their subservient supplicants
