“ Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter”
We are fighting the latest engagement in the battle of God v. Satan. Sadly, humans have rejected the authority and wisdom of their Creator since the beginning. Nations make this mistake, and each of us makes it individually. Whether we repent and accept the plan ( the cross) God offers to correct this problem is the central question for each of us. Schools used to teach truths based on the Word of God. Now they teach their “ humanist” version of the truth expounded by teachers who reject God. The consequences are pretty obvious. Turning your precious children over to the “ education” establishment is as foolish as turning your flock of sheep over to a wolf.
Dr. Aijian, That is exactly the quote I use in public speech to illustrate the nature of the WOKE agenda. It is truly a good vs. evil battle we are in and evil has been normalized, otherwise decent folks are conditioned into promoting evil as good. Few insanities are as devastating as turning our children over to the public schools.
that would be like posting good behavior rules in a psych ward.............
A great comment. When CAB was formed it was born of the truth vs. what was happening on the streets of Santa Barbara and IV. Truth of actual transportation uses was and is the equivalent "outing" the liars and cheats for politics ... good behavior rules. The opposition hated it.
Now faced with "woke" politics and decades of failure the followers of destruction of business and social community are fighting to break apart what is left. One only has to see the push back in Carp., Santa Barbara, and Goleta where the costs to the taxpayers of street grid destruction has been staggering and literally tax money is poured into organizations that are political action committees hiding as non-profits.
The religion today is centralized dictator government regardless of the truth. It really is that bad.
And somehow, these political action committees masquerading as diversity and/or green non-profits need to be based in beautiful coastal California towns rather than cities that actually need help (assuming they know how) like Memphis, Baltimore, East St Louis …
The biggest problem I have with Woke People is they're so boring. And they never make any sense. How can you be a polyamorous vegan who's rabidly pro late term abortion? “They” is so tediously nonsensical they could convert Satan to monogamy.
And btw, Joe Biden isn't the only Democrat with Woke dementia. Every single Democrat I know talks as much gibberish as Joe. They can't remember simple things, like a political party is supposed to have a viable candidate in place before the election.
What first comes to mind is the French Revolution discarding both the long traditions of the French monarchy, along with the role of the Catholic church in their daily lives. Substituting instead New Think, New Language, New Calendar, New Holidays.
How quickly this free-floating "rights of man" became the Reign of Terror, coming to an end only with strong man Napoleon substituting his own personal will and then choosing to impose his superior Frenchness on the rest of Europe. Good time to meditate on the similar lessons we learned from yesterday and are yet again learning today. " Evolution is organic from the ground up; and cannot be imposed from the top down.
Recalling a book on Transitions, and we are very much in an age of transition right now, stated there are three required stages in any transition which cannot be short-circuited: first one must mourn what is lost; expect a period of chaos; and finally the new beginnings emerge.
I think we are now finally mourning the loss of values, any bedrock values, in this past age of moral relativity starting about the mid 1960's because nothing was substituted for even the symbolic loss of the 10 Commandments -which in fact was glue that helped this corner of western civilization hold together far more than we realized at the time. Now we know what we lost - common shared bedrock values.
I never really understood at a much younger age what the fuss was over posting the 10 Commandments in public schools, since this never happened in California in the 1950/60's. But those were also the days when most everyone was privately associated with a religious community - primarily from Judaism to Protestant to Catholicism. As Protestants, we got our 10 Commandments in Sunday School, while most did attend religious services weekly. It was just who we were then.
A black-robed nun did come for some of the kids at the end of the school day and took them for off-site catechism lessons. They were allowed to leave school early, as she marched them up the hill to the local community center.
I remember no tensions among any of us over the wide array of both religions and ethnicities we were exposed to in those days - because the assumption was everyone had "some" religion or some inherited diversity of background and beliefs; and this was theirs. We were all mutually curious, but content with our own. That is what I remember most.
I also remember being taught everyone deserved this same tolerance, so the task ahead for the nation was to ensure it available for all. We were taught good values as children; our adult task was to live them.
Relativism goes much further back, I would argue even going back as far as the protestant revolution with the beliefs among "reformers" that they had the right to interpret scripture and form their own Churches, in addition to desiring a more democratic framework of a universal Priesthood (in opposition the Catholic definition of a universal priesthood) where each person is their own priest and an arbiter of their own revealed truth.
I would take it back to the Garden and the work did with Eve Theo- but in Western Civilization, I think you make a good point and we might trace the reformers relativism to Roscelin's nominalism in the late 11th century.
An over-looked transition is moving from the digital Age of Information rather quickly into to the Age of Disinformation. Underscoring yet again, the now crying need for spiritual "bedrock".
Generations of Perspective? - hey, I resemble that. Which I guess is the point of "honor your father and mother". (But no unearned cheap points, please) It is good to have been around the block .....more than once. That is earned perspective granted by endurance only, with a few shreds of long-term memory still on call; though not earned by any unique wisdom or insight.
Good article Steven. I just looked up the "original" Ten Commandments" to refresh myself with the actual content and I can't ,for the life of me, see how anyone would be offended by their content. Although I am not a church goer I have always felt that there is a higher authority (God) that makes the world go around. The Commandments are a great moral compass for all people to try to adhere to, religious or not.
Thank you Monica! I appreciate your take on the 10 commandments, it is true, one doesn't need to be religious or a believer in God to think that lying, stealing, murder, and lust are not good for society, in fact, C.S. Lewis says every great civilization has something almost identical to the 10 commandments in their laws- truly a great moral compass for all of us to adhere to, the opposite is devastating and destroys civilization and society, we are seeing that first hand.
Wow! It might be rhetorical or hyperboly but it illustrates the point clearly. There is a creator side and another side. Question is, which side are you on?
The citation to modern psychologists as the fathers of this ideology hits the mark. Eugenics was and is evil and the fundamental believes are inhumane and against creation. Another aspect to keep in mind is Charles Darwin. Although not directly associated with Eugenics, his theory of evolution contradicts creation and is generally accepted in education as science. The proponents use the dreaded words, " settled science " that is fundamentally untrue.
As little known fact is that about 70% of science is based on models and its not observable. This becomes more obvious when you visit to the museum of creation or the Ark Encounter in Kentucky.
The religion of “science” has pushed out God from schools decades ago. Teaching Big Bang & “evolution” in their perverse ways.
Our local zoo still teaches that we evolved from apes at the gorilla exhibit despite zero proof of this hypothesis
These are theories, guesses, there is no proof. Therefore it is faith, a religion, a religion of “science” that is being taught in our schools.
Not all science is bad, just this unprovable hypothetical science which was designed to remove God from our lives. Science was meant as a way for us to learn more about Gods Earth.
Big Bang Theory, is a guess, there is no proof that this planet was created by two random rocks collided. And zero proof that all life came from single cell organisms. They fail to discuss where the single cell organisms came from since two rocks collided together and there was nothing. They say something came from nothing randomly but they cannot prove it. You have to just take their word, that is faith, that is a religion.
They pushed their religion, upon all children and removed the Bible and God from schools.
Now their religion has evolved to the Woke Commandments saying that Moses law of respecting your parents, not stealing, not murdering , not cheating on your spouse is bad.
Look at what Blue Politics have created. Gotham City.
Excellent comment! A Gotham City that covers the entire USA and soon the whole world if we don't wake up! It seems so obvious, but the brainwashed are mightily so conditioned. The religion you reference is "Scientism!" Think of the idiocy of saying "I believe in science!" In the material sense it is a method, and yields the lowest form of human knowledge without a single instance of absolute certainty the way the higher and liberating sciences of philosophy and Thology yield certainties. We must begin at the beginning with the first principle of all reality, the first principle the WOKE and the disciples of "Scientism" reject for their very psychological survival.
The Big Bang theory was made by a Catholic Priest, the Belgian Theoretical Physcists named George Lemaitre and it posits that the universe was created, which is why when it was first thought of was heavily opposed by atheists because it aligned with the Christian belief that the universe did not always exist. Faith and science are not in opposition to each other, but we mist discern the lies between those who idolize science and use it to promote their own secular agendas.
"In 1951, Pope Pius XII declared that the Big Bang theory did not conflict with the Catholic concept of creation, stating that a mind enriched by scientific knowledge could consider the current view of the universe compatible with the idea of a Creator God. Some say that Lemaître's work is important because it reminds both the scientific and Christian worlds that the Church supports true science."
"Lemaitre, as a good scientist, knew that, with time, his theory would be improved upon, shown to have errors, and/or be disproven all together. Nevertheless, Pope Pius XII still embraced the work of Lemaitre and reflected the science of the day in his Address to the Pontifical Academy of Sciences on November 22, 1951. In regard to the expansion of the universe, Pius XII said the following:
The examination of various spiral nebulae, especially as carried out by Edwin W. Hubble at the Mount Wilson Observatory, has led to the significant conclusion, presented with all due reservations, that these distant systems of galaxies tend to move away from one another with such velocity that, in the space of 1,300 million years, the distance between such spiral nebulae is doubled. If we look back into the past at the time required for this process of the “expanding universe,” it follows that, from one to ten billion years ago, the matter of the spiral nebulae was compressed into a relatively restricted space, at the time the cosmic processes had their beginning. (Address to the Pontifical Academy of Sciences on November 22, 1951, paragraph 36.)" - Vatican Observatory - George Lemaitre, Father of the "Big Bang"
Hi Mark. I would like to ask you a question in all seriousness without any implied sarcasm or ill feeling. Does the idea of having the Ten Commandments displayed in a public forum really bother you? Also would your reaction to any quotations from either the Dali Lama or proverbs from Buddhist teachings be received by you in the same manner? Just curious. Thank you.
Mark, and many others like him find it hypocritical that the far right would both insist on posting the Ten Commandments and in the same breath insist on supporting someone who breaks all ten with great regularity. Further, I find it interesting that most religions hold out their dogma as the only and one true religion and often go so far as to claim that the outsiders aren’t in some way included in salvation and so on.
Andy, I am very interested in your thoughts, you appear to have good will and sincerity- however, it was never a question of whether or not Trump breaks the 10 commandments or not, of course he does and so do we all. The question is whether or not, even in spite of his failings, that he knows breaking them is the wrong thing to do and that his official positions defer to the 10 commandments as the natural law- the democratic party adheres strictly to its woke 10 commandments but rejects the true 10 commandments.
There is only one possible true law- for an example, either it is wrong to murder or it is not, one is correct the other is not. The path to salvation is narrow, steep and thorny, no one is excluded from salvation except those who chose to reject the narrow, steep and thorny path.
The Democratic Party doesn’t adhere to someone’s made up ten woke commandments, thats nonsense. And as for the narrow, steep and thorny path, yes. But I don’t see Trump as much of a traverser, especially in light of his minions teargassing my old priest and his parishioners in a quest for a photo op with a borrowed upside down bible. Yes, we are all sinners, many don’t make it our life’s work though.
My goodness Trump is no saint, no one would say such a thing.
Still, the woke 10 commandments is not some made up thing, it is integral in the democratic party platform, I can assure you- first is the democratic party WOKE? Of course it is. It is engaged in identity politics? Of course it is, look at Bidens incompetent but diverse cabinet- Is it pro-choice? of course it is! Is it propagating the green agenda? of course it is. Does it promote the lie that all white people are racist? Of course it does. Does it promote the public school agenda? Of course it doesn- that just about covers the woke 10 commandments- Trump is not the poster boy for virtue, he is pro-life in stance, pro-border, anti-green agenda, anti-woke and all that squares with the true 10 commandandments exponentially more than the democratic platform- prove me wrong.
No! you don't get to set the rules. There's no rules here anyway. I asked a simple unbiased question asking for an unbiased answer. You're unable to respond to the question without spewing your usual right-wing biased nonsense, and it's no surprise. But you are still getting your ass-kisser heart for your efforts. Congrats on that.
I've been "consistent" in asking a simple question. Let me repeat it for those of you who can't seem to grasp the question below.
What is the definition of "WOKE" ..... unbiased. And YES, there is one. So much for your pitiful attempt at being unbiased. I'm not interested in people who can't answer the question "incredibly tame". There's only ONE true answer and you're unable to grasp it. Predictably, like most every subject on this forum, you have the right-wing Trump cult, conspiracy theorists chiming in "trying" to answer with your own right-wing bigoted theory.
Mark, this is simply a repetition of Marx's supposition that you and your ilk will brook no argument that comes from "religion, philosophy or ideology" and I agree both sides are entertaining, but we are not communicating here- and the big surprise for you would be to learn that you block the conversation not the "right wing, Trump cultists, racist, MAGA, filth" you accuse.
Then go find it yourself Mark, your refusal to accept any definition given here because ultimately what you seek doesn't exist is just stubbornness on your part. I am not a "Trump cultist", I am again a Catholic Monarchist, a Carlist, my beliefs and ideology are radically different from Trump and even those who are actually on the far right in America. I am not a fascist, or whatever other label you might seek to characterize me as.
There are rules here Mark, and not only do you not know what they are, your own personal rules are clearly the diametric opposite. You have said you hold a degree from UCSB and a Masters degree as well, and yet you are incapable of seeing the ideological weakness of your extremely "bias" definition of woke- here, souls of good faith try to use words that convey reality in the service of the other, for you it is clear that you use your words to serve yourself and to purposefully insult others. You may arrogate to yourself the license to do so, but that arrogation doesn't protect you from the consequences of what real people think of the quality of your character projected by your abusive words. You say things like "I am not interested in people who....." Why would you think anyone cares about such a self-centered assertion? You asked a basic question, you got respectful and decent answers and then proceeded to advance an embarrassing definition and insult those who answered much more realistically than you. strange stuff Mark.
While this may be a treatise against "wokism" it also shines a light upon a presidential candidate.
Commandment 1 is the Trumps sole outlook on life. And Commandment 6 is equally applicable to him. How can any one believe in the ten woke commandments and then close their eyes to the awful person Trump actually is? Further actually support him? I am baffled.
Should this posting have any real value it should be applied to the present state of humanity. This is not a Democrat issue. It is a humankind issue. We as a people have turned away from simple standards of honesty to self and to others, truth, principles and integrity. Christianity is passe, sorry guys we have to move forward to the next great religion. Note religions are a creation of human and are thus inherently compromised. I have no idea what is next but we need something different.
Daniel, There is a lot to talk about here and I wish we had time to discuss it, but here is an inescapable fact, there is either one true faith or there are not true faiths- there can't be more than one but there can be none, those are the only two choices- If we are not in possession of the one, it is highly unlikely that the "new religion" you suggest is going to be the right one and it would vanity and folly to embrace such a concoction. I do agree with some of your intelligent points, but in regard to self- honesty, why on earth would you trust you on these matters? Or why should anyone trust you on this matter? It is true that most religions are man-made, including your religion, it does not follow that there is not one that is true, real and not manmade. The new religion today is secular humanism, and quite right we need something different that this hellscape making ideology.
No, the Catholic Church is the One True Faith, and it will persist for eternity. Nice try though, but your secular and relativistic statement will be worthless in the end.
Thank you for demonstrating my point. In agreement that there is one god but differing in there being many religions. To claim one truth faith is erroneous. It was the first christian faith, but true? who knows with the passage of time. Was the Inquisition a healthy diversion in the one true faiths practice?
And as to persisting to eternity, well foregive me for pointing out church attendance is in decline. In the UK the most attended church is the Muslem faith. America also has a declining attendance and observance of christianity.
I only demonstrated your point to you subjectively. It is only reasonable to claim one true faith or no true faith at all- either we get it right or we get it wrong, just because so many get it wrong doesn't prove or mean anything- there is only one Truth. Church attendance in decline says nothing about the one true church, the secular humanist church is bursting at the seams, the satanic temple is growing by leaps and bounds, this tells us nothing of these church only of the fallen stupidity of man.
Okay, so what of modern trends? I'm a young man, a 20 year old who came back to the faith, I am clearly not apart of these secular trends. The Church has endured for 2000 years because it was founded by God, and not man.
The Inquisition was focused on maintaining Orthodoxy and rehabilitation for those found guilty. The Church actually had fair judicial processes for the accused unlike many secular kingdoms at the time, with many people preferring to be tried by the Church then secular authorities. Moreover, exercutions were carried out by the state as heretics were considered to be a threat to stability of their kingdom, the Church was not executing people. It sounds like you belive in protestant myths and black legends because in the end very few people died during the Inquisitions and those that did were executed by kingdoms.
extreme promotion of progressive or left-wing attitudes or practices...esp. used to promote "social justice" or to harm, slander, smear, & discriminate against those that do not share similar views...seen as self-righteous, pernicious, and insincere by majority of citizens…
This is an adequate response but it is in the nature of the ideological to reject anything that comes from common sense or the right use of reason. Mark Allen discredits himself.
I start to think that DLDawson and they he says something intelligent and kind, at least he hints at it- so I wonder what is going on with him, he is so erratic and unstable, probably suffering a severe form of Trump Derangement Syndrome. I am not closed to the possibility of a little child on mommy's ipad,
he also could be a bot…AI (large language models, which has been around for decades) has become very sophisticated these days…definitely afflicted by the mind virus spreading around the planet…
I suppose I wouldn't be that surprised to learn he is a bot- it has been all over the place, erratic at times, unhinged in others, polite, kind, reasonable, absurd, and he hasn't responded commensurately with certain as insults. it is very fishy at this point- I can't figure this thing out.
obvious that you post here to troll the group & hurl insults at Trump…we get that you hate Trump and love Biden…here are a few reasons that I won’t be voting for Biden…
Joe Biden is not your Grandpa. He's not a sympathetic old man. He's a worthless government-leech who never held a real job..showered with his daughter...used his crack-addicted son to sell the family name abroad...used his influence to strongarm a Ukrainian investigation into his family's corrupt dealings...opened our border to 15 million illegals (including hardened convicts & insane people)...abandoned Americans in Afghanistan...sent your tax dollars to Ukraine while your cost of living skyrockets at home...etc etc etc
Joe Biden deserves every minute of shame and embarrassment received...
PS…I’m a vet…first lesson learned is that we never leave anyone behind — never ever…Joe Biden left many behind in Afghanistan…he also lied in the debate about no troops being lost under his watch…Joe Biden is a criminal…
Mark, this is embarrassing. If you haven't read the Communist Manifesto, you unwittingly embody one of its vital ;principles when it comes to opposition- Marx in part II entitled Proletarians and Communists says "the charges against communism made from a religious a philosophical and generally from an ideological standpoint are not deserving of serious examination." Your ridiculous "unbiased" fake ideology is your own subjective impossible standard in the same vein as Marx's ridiculous dismissal of all things revealed, natural reason and all reasoned out ideological schemes. It is becoming clear that you don't know what WOKE means, and don't turn to Merriam Webster for defense, we all know they work for the "Ministry of Truth"
I posted the question. And neither you or your friends are capable of answering it. There's ONE answer only. And none of you dopes have the courage to answer it without throwing in your nonsensical bigoted opinions. I didn't ask for your opinions, nor do I care about them. A requested "the definition of woke".
Congrats on writing an article, even as bullshit nuts as it is, but hey! your fellow right-wing screwballs love it. Even the dopey school teacher is giving out plenty of red hearts. Bravo!!
That question is just a trope. Everyone with common sense knows what WOKE means the way a fish might discover water. If you read the article I wrote, it is a picture perfect example of the rotten fruit of the WOKE agenda manifesting in the schools. I could give you a detailed account of what WOKE is but this is not the time or place- suffice it to say that WOKE is the neo-Marxist rendition of his oppressed/oppressor dichotomy carried out through identity politics. It is the same old material dialectic with abused speech to invert the order of reality in the Luciferian mode. It is truly ironic that those who share your worldview truly don’t know what things are and then put out a question like “who can define woke? I’ll wait.” Woke is a social syndrome and has become the ethical air we breathe- I have a question for you, do you know what time is? Can you define it for us? I’ll wait……
It's 12:40pm. Here you go Einstein. Woke is "defined" as aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice).... PERIOD!!!
But, not surprisingly, I got exactly what I knew I would get. Twisted right-wing Anti-Woke nonsense from the twisted right-wing conspiracy theorists. At least you people are consistent in your delusional thinking.
The term also means all lives matter. Woke also means LGBTQ lives matter. As do the lives of everybody from transgender persons to the victims of other systemic injustices in American society.
“Woke” means open discussion about race and injustice and other systemic oppression, gender and sexual orientation. Unpacking the word means school teachers are to teach history, not cosmetize the past. Those of you of Christian faith should know your faith requires you to teach the good and bad side of who you are as a people. NOT your usual biased distaste for those who believe in wokeness.
This is the Mark Allen I was hoping for, I wish i would have seen this comment first, I have to take back my statement that you are blocking communication, this is a solid answer from you, thank you for this it gives me hope. There is a lot here and I am grateful for it!
And it's not a "solid answer", it's a precise definition. The ONLY definition. A definition no one on this forum was capable, nor had the courage to answer correctly.
No Mark, your answer was sincere and honest from your subjective perspective and there is an honesty in that. I say solid only in the sense that this is your best comment because it shows that at least you care about the dialogue even if you are deranged by conditioning, you still have a choice. I am certain you don't know what courage is in regard to answering this question honestly. Your answer was straight from the Luciferian woke 10 commandments and is the furthest from unbiased that exists on this site- but still, it was honest of you to put it out there for everyone to see. I don't think you know the difference between virtue and virtue signaling, but our erratic incoherence is lost on no one but you.
You'd get plenty of solid answers from me, if only I didn't have to read all the utterly clueless right-wing conspiracy theory garbage, which of course several here cherish as their own opinions as replies. Every time I read "deep state", "the great Trump" and the countless amount of garbage coming from so-called traditional conservative value morons on this forum, it's impossible to counter anyone's dopey views with a logical conversation. So I guess I'm relegated to simply being a Troll. So if that's the case, I'll continue to be the best one here. It's entertaining reading the meltdowns.
The only meltdown on this thread I have seen is yours Mark. Even in this deranged post you demonstrate that you have almost no grasp of the true meaning of the word "logic." You are not relegated to troll status in my book, but if it quacks like a duck....
You failed whoever you are, I made an offer to compare facts on your "deep state" infatuation. CRICKETS!! .... Guess time got away from you, like your brain did.
Nope! I just replied using the same format most of you right-wing conspiracy theory nut jobs use, minus the clueless confusion part. But feel free to answer him yourself. Perhaps the question was mean't for you.
No Mark, the question was meant for you, I didn't think you would contend with my honest answer, and you didn't. You don't know what time is and you don't know what WOKE means, you only accept the mush fed to you- my words in my definition correspond to true to being realities, your silly words correspond to your emotional ideologies. No one is thinking otherwise, but still, I invite you into conversation refuting the basic definition I gave you above. I don't think you are capable, but nothing would make me happier than to see you take me up on it with virtue.
It's clear you aren't here to ask a legitimate question, merely to get internet brownie points for "owning" the cons. There was no need for you to ask this question if the "unbiased" (not at al) definition was so readily available to you. Your lack of charity and compassion is also strongly evident with how you feel the need to mock and ridicule others.
No one forced you to come try to answer my question. And once again, I knew the responses were going to be from people like you. Your lack of ability to simply answer an unbiased question is painfully evident. And all you can do is have a pity party for yourself accusing me of a lack of compassion and clarity. You had a chance to get all of that from me. Instead you continue to cling on to your warped conservative ideologies that won't allow you to answer an unbiased question. And that's a FACT!!
Mark, it's interesting that you expect me to abandon my views while you hold firmly to yours. Bias is a human trait we all share. The fact that I acknowledge my bias doesn't make my perspective any less valid than yours. Disregarding others' views simply because they don't align with your own isn't a fair approach to dialogue. We all have biases, including you.
Nope!! That's all in your head. I expect you to answer to question as the question was asked. Or if you're incapable to simply move on to some other post. Problem is you're too fixated on right-wing conspiracy theories and all that nonsense you and your buddies on this forum embellish constantly. If I weren't laughing most of the time at the utter fantasy nonsense you guys love to gripe about hourly, I'd be even more disgusted than I usually am. If you think what and how you believe is normal, correct and reasonable, I pity you. How you've come this far believing your conspiracy theories is a mystery.
There's NO DEEP STATE!!! ....... PERIOD!!!.
TRUMP'S A CRIMINAL CONMAN .... PERIOD!!!
But! back to the question. Answer it correctly and honestly or not, I DIDN'T ASK FOR YOUR VIEWS ON THE QUESTION. There's only ONE correct answer that DEFINES "WOKE" and none of you dopes have had the courage to answer it correctly without your dopey right-wing biases.
It's clear you can't answer a legitimate question, without having to spin it away from truthful to right-wing nonsense. You also can't seem to take what you dish out. Frustration is a bitch I can see. Sorry, zero sympathy from me.
Interestingly, my initial definition wasn't far off from yours. Both describe 'woke' as an awareness of social issues, although I presented it from my perspective. Your lack of charity and compassion is clear in your need to mock and ridicule those who don't share your viewpoint. This kind of hostility doesn't foster understanding or productive dialogue.
There is no such thing as an "unbiased" explanation, Mark. Everyone has their own biases from their own personal experiences and observations in life. From my own experience, "woke" is generally a secular and humanistic perspective on social issues that makes someone "aware" of certain problems or beliefs held in contemporary society, but these "problems" are rooted in a leftist understanding of social, political, and economic issues and are in stark contrast to the traditional, Catholic understanding of said issues.
Because there isn't one, people aren't robots, they have feelings, thoughs, and opinions. If you were to listen to an ideological ally you would (without any introspection) declare it unbiased and objective. You continue to pose as an "unbiased" or "objective" person when you continue to show your own immense biases and political leanings.
I asked for an unbiased definition of “woke”, and yes! there is one, just not from people like you. What I didn’t ask for was a regurgitation of your political beliefs vs my political beliefs. Which are obviously biased.
I didn’t ask, nor do I care, about your feelings toward woke. Get it?!!
Capitalism is not something supported by the Church, indeed the Church opposes both unrestrained capitalism and the evils of socialism. Instead the Church promotes ideals which align more closely to the concept of distributism which is rooted in economic justice. Rather than having wealth and land concentrated in certain individuals or the state, families and communities would own the means of production. Capitalism has caused an explosion in the sale of deviancy and vice, pornography and drugs chief among them. We should stop supporting capitalism as a good thing when it has been consistently used to undermine traditional and religious values.
Isaiah 5:20 comes to mind-
“ Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter”
We are fighting the latest engagement in the battle of God v. Satan. Sadly, humans have rejected the authority and wisdom of their Creator since the beginning.
Great comment J! A lot to think about here and generations of perspective. This is indeed a time of transition and the stakes are high.
Well the move to disinformation is apparent to all not spreading it and yes, the true answer is spiritual not material!
I always appreciate hearing your take J. Livingston!
Interesting article.
Great article, so true.
Two rocks collided? I missed that in school.
Alright everyone, please mute or block Allen. He's just a troll with no actual arguments to make, he just wants to own the conservative and feel good.
Thank you.
How about Rumi phrases on greeting cards?
Fundamental Marxism ...
I have an announcement to make, I am now a Proud Trump Cultist according to Mark, I am coming out as of today. (/s).
THIS IS MAGA COUNTRY! (/s).
At least you're still entertaining.
As a now proud Maga cultist, I declare that Santa Barbara county is MAGA country /s.
A very early internet warning: do not poke sticks at dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.
Good luck with that!! keep dreaming.
Haha, okay Mark.
Ah. such sense.
What’s “woke” mean? Anyone have an unbiased explanation? I’ll wait.
extreme promotion of progressive or left-wing attitudes or practices...esp. used to promote "social justice" or to harm, slander, smear, & discriminate against those that do not share similar views...seen as self-righteous, pernicious, and insincere by majority of citizens…
This is an adequate response but it is in the nature of the ideological to reject anything that comes from common sense or the right use of reason. Mark Allen discredits himself.
he’s almost lost me…could be a bot or maybe a juvenile using mommy’s iPad…
I start to think that DLDawson and they he says something intelligent and kind, at least he hints at it- so I wonder what is going on with him, he is so erratic and unstable, probably suffering a severe form of Trump Derangement Syndrome. I am not closed to the possibility of a little child on mommy's ipad,
he also could be a bot…AI (large language models, which has been around for decades) has become very sophisticated these days…definitely afflicted by the mind virus spreading around the planet…
I suppose I wouldn't be that surprised to learn he is a bot- it has been all over the place, erratic at times, unhinged in others, polite, kind, reasonable, absurd, and he hasn't responded commensurately with certain as insults. it is very fishy at this point- I can't figure this thing out.
yep! no surprise you got lost, common. And perhaps call your mommy and ask her.
obvious that you post here to troll the group & hurl insults at Trump…we get that you hate Trump and love Biden…here are a few reasons that I won’t be voting for Biden…

Not quite!
Unbiased: especially : free from all prejudice and favoritism : eminently fair.
Next?!!
Sorry your embarrassed. Funny! but sorry for you. Easy way not to be embarrassed? Go elsewhere!! Hope it works for you.
Mark, I wrote the article in the first place, why would I go elsewhere?
I posted the question. And neither you or your friends are capable of answering it. There's ONE answer only. And none of you dopes have the courage to answer it without throwing in your nonsensical bigoted opinions. I didn't ask for your opinions, nor do I care about them. A requested "the definition of woke".
Congrats on writing an article, even as bullshit nuts as it is, but hey! your fellow right-wing screwballs love it. Even the dopey school teacher is giving out plenty of red hearts. Bravo!!
Mark Allan,
That question is just a trope.
Sorry, you failed.
You failed, Mark. He asked what time is. Not what time is it.
I wi pray for your conversion.
Way off!!! Sorry, you got a C-
There is no such thing as an "unbiased" explanation, Mark.
Not from you anyway, next?!!
"But you can't just go against my belief, I need affirmations of my own understanding!"
I never did. I asked for an “unbiased” definition of “Woke”.
You’re unable to provide that.
AND… Any left leaning or right learning attempt to “define” the meaning of “woke” is wrong!!.
Hypocrisy much?!!
