Obama-Biden joined the Paris Accord which, since it was not a treaty, did not need congressional approval. The Accord provided for the U.S. to put a billion dollars into a fund that would be distributed by others. President Trump withdrew U.S. participation. Biden-Harris paid the hundreds of millions of dollars to rejoin. Heard of any benefit to anyone besides the representatives enjoying their time in Paris?
Great column, Andy. This is exactly why I'm so excited about Trump appointing Joel Salatin for a position on USDA. And for Thomas Massie to be head of Agriculture. Joel has been a true environmentalist working in regenerative agriculture for decades. He is a hero. He's been ignored and vilified by the Climate Change Industrial Complex.
Of equal importance right now: Tucker Carlson says here that Mitch McConnell is trying to sabotage Trump's presidency with an early election of Senate leaders. Carlson is asking for people to call their senators and ask this be protested by them. Obviously, since we have an idiot Senator it won't do us Californians any good to call him. But I've alerted friends in other states to call and you should, too. Demand endorsement of Rick Scott. Not a great piece below but will tell you about it:
The only way the truth is going to get out is if we take our schools back from the indoctrinators that that are stealing the hearts and minds of our children
The Biden administration is all ready weaponizing the EPA against the incoming Trump administration. Meanwhile, Newsom, in concert with environmental extremists are adding an additional gas taxes to the tune of 60-80 cents per gallon in order to sunset fossil fuel vehicles.
In looking back, it would seem the Chumash Marine Sanctuary amounts to little more than a scheme to eliminate any and all gas exploration for much of our California coast. Environmental legal battles for oil, gas, nuclear and coal are just beginning and clearly the Biden administration is throwing a monkey wrench into our national goal to become energy independent.
"In the past decade, US domestic energy production has increased faster than any other time in history. This rapid growth has prompted government officials, including former President Donald Trump, to claim that the US is now energy independent."
And I'm sure there are several others sources if you like.
Good Article, thanks Andy…the earth’s climate has been vacillating between hot & cold for billions of years…we are now entering a new ice age, hopefully a mini ice age, as a result of a new grand solar minimum…global warming/climate change” is not more than a money grift + control measure to further enslave mankind by the evildoers…
When asked what is carbon most people think of coal used for heating if from the east or charcoal if a burger flipper from California. It is nasty dirty stuff and we certainly don't want to breathe it. Haven't you heard of black lung killing coal miners? The use of the word carbon and the term decarbonize are chosen to invoke images of coal dust and black lung. This is another example of manipulating the language to enhance the propaganda. Carbon is in coal, diamonds and in our atmosphere in the form carbon dioxide CO2. When carbon or any element combines with other elements it produces compounds with entirely different properties. When water is spilled we are not concerned about fire even though water is composed of hydrogen a fuel and oxygen which is necessary for combustion. Quite the contrary, water can extinguish fire. Similarly, CO2 is far from coal or graphite. CO2 is a colorless, odorless, tasteless gas which is and always has been a trace (0.04%) component of our atmosphere, sometimes higher and sometimes lower than it is today. Life thrived on earth before fossil fuel with a CO2 concentration higher than today. CO2 is essential for animal and plant life. The use of the word carbon and decarbonize should be a red flag that the environmental movement is not what is is portrayed to be. Language chosen to invoke fear is a technique of propaganda, manipulation. I need to fix that faucet leak, don't want to start a fire.
The resounding victory this week is a wonderful rebuke to the diabolical agenda being perpetrated on America (and the World) over the past few decades. The people are waking up.
When I saw our City and the Nation supporting congesting our traffic grid I told my husband that I didn’t think that they would stop limiting our resources until we were huddled in a cave searching for twigs to supply heat.
This isn’t a new idea.
When are we going to wake up and demand our officials work for our benefits?
One of my comments with regards to environmental issues has been to calculate the volume of the atmosphere, easily done by subtracting the radius volume of the earth from the radius volume of the ionosphere. And then divide this volume by the population of the earth and that provides how much of the atmosphere each person owns living in the world. Funny, I've never calculated how much of the atmosphere each of us own, but I'm sure it's a lot. Compared to the volume of the atmosphere, each person is like how we look at an ant. There once was a true problem with smog in the cities, no question and that was eliminated with an abundance of smog-control devices. And I can easily argue with too many devices, especially heavy weight devices which only work for a few minutes during engine startup. But the carbon stuff the trees like is true BS, including all the past Al Gore predictions (he has the IQ of a Kamala Harris). I loved the fact someone mentioned the SpaceX rocket punched a hole through the ionosphere but that was OK because the ionosphere is self-repairing .... the Dems were totally busted. So much for freon damaging the ionosphere. I can hear Mother Nature laughing at the thought of humans doing any damage to earth.
Funny, there's all the talk about cow farts, but humans probably produce gasses in excess of all the cows on the planet. Poor cows, people are picking on them <g>. And cows don't drive cars. And probably pollute less in the area of human waste. Cow waste goes on the ground and human waste makes a much more complex trip probably creating more contamination of the water. But give Dems time, they'll be into other unimaginable sources of pollution. I never would have thought of cow farts being an issue. It's probably the environmentalist trying to make us all vegetarians.
Alvin Toffler saw and predicted this future and the societal displacement that would occur [Future Shock (1970) and Third Wave (1980)]. Having read these predictions and then lived the reality unfolding much as he envisioned, I can attest to the political and emotional upheavel such change has wrought between generations. Born in the postwar “Life of Riley/Ozzie & Harriett” USA, I have witnessed currents, cross currents and riptides of colliding values that struggle to work themselves out in gigabytes and megawatts of modernity. But….it all boils down to the simple truth that values—and the political priorities and policies that result—are downstream of religion, or whatever ultimate organizing TRUTH you hold. As Obama famously said. following his spectacular ascent/election of 2008…”Elections have consequences.” Indeed they do, especially consequential, landslide elections. The climate agenda will be unmasked and reframed in the near future, and, like Gilda Radner’s indelible Emily Litella would say, upon discovery she had completely missed the point of some urgent social trend, “Oh…NEVER MIND.”
I am wondering if there is any common ground we can come to. Do you think that air pollution was bad in the 60s and 70s in the Los Angeles basin? Do you feel that air quality has improved since then?
I would hope this is something to agree on once the propaganda is properly exposed. This has been done to instill fear and it’s done much damage. Look at the suicide rate of our youth as only one example.
Air quality has improved since tha 60s and 70s due to the Introduction of the catylitic converter. The smog of days past was mostly unburned hydrocarbons (HxCy)z, carbon monoxide (CO) and oxides of nitrogen (NOx). The catylitic converter changes the carbon containing compounds to CO2. Say what???? The vaunted catylitic converter is increasing CO2 emissions? Yep, your car now emits plant food and is greening the planet. I believe we have come to common ground, green is good.
It has taken our public schools generations to make us citizens stupid enough to buy this destructive ideology. These people hate civilization and they hate human beings. They are the enemy from within.
I don't think we should presume (or use in debate) that climate change is a hoax. Let's concede that the science is unsettled. What is important is what do we do about it? If one projects the mayhem CO2 will produce in the future, it must be recognized that there will be uncertainty as to the amount of mayhem in the future, plus or minus whatever the prediction is, and that uncertainty grows with time. Imagine a graph of time versus mayhem. Starting at the origin, a wedge forms up and to the right and gets fatter as time increases. Projections of the effect CO2 reduction will have on the mayhem is, of course, uncertain. The models of effectiveness predict a small number that falls within the zone of uncertainty on the graph. In other words, the uncertainty of the future danger is greater than how much scientists and policy makers think they can achieve in making things better.
So, we are being asked to spend trillions throughout our lifetimes and reduce the quality of life for most people on earth while not knowing if those efforts will have achieved anything because they can't be measured.

Excellent comment on the Paris Accord, Brent. You're right - it was a very expensive vacation for politicians, nothing else.

Speaking of Tucker Carlson, I heard he said after Trump's victory . . ."Daddy's home and he's pissed." :)
Yes and I love it.

According to Forbes magazine we are energy independent. Makes "Drill Baby, Drill" sound a little silly.
Forbes magazine is owned by China. I didn’t renew my subscription years ago when it became a rag of propaganda.
If we’re independent why did the current administration sell our petroleum reserves to China and never replace them?

Pollution is bad, CO2 is life sustaining.
I would hope this is something to agree on once the propaganda is properly exposed. This has been done to instill fear and it’s done much damage. Look at the suicide rate of our youth as only one example.

Why were catalytic converters installed in cars?
To reduce unburned hydrocarbons in the atmosphere in exchange for CO2 which is not a pollutant. And you can see that the air is cleaner now.
So catalytic converters are good. And they were a regulation enacted by a government agency. Ergo regulations can be good (but may not always be).
You might say they are bad because of increasing CO2 emissions. Or you might say they are good.
You put it better than I could. Thank you.
What an important article Mr. Caldwell!!!!
It has taken our public schools generations to make us citizens stupid enough to buy this destructive ideology. These people hate civilization and they hate human beings. They are the enemy from within.
Stupidity will eventually fall to reason. The latest election is proof positive of this.
