Going, Going, Gone!
Insurance companies join the mass exodus from the Golden State.
Have you noticed the trend? Walmart, Hewlett Packard, Tesla, Oracle …in 2021, 64 companies left California.
Maybe you’ve noticed your insurance premiums going up; home, auto, renter’s, health insurance. Or maybe you noticed your insurance company decided not to renew your policy. Have you noticed national companies like State Farm, All State, Geico, and others, choosing not to issue new policies and refusing to renew existing home policies?
The “official” response from insurance companies blames the situation on wildfires, along with “unfriendly” business practices.
Insurance companies are “for profit” businesses. They prefer to be in business in every state, to sell more insurance policies and make money. So why would a company leave a profitable market? California Prop 103 prohibits insurance companies from raising rates to keep up with increased expenses. The government dictates to them what they can charge. An entity that has no clue how to run a business much less how to balance a checkbook oversees private businesses’ revenue.
More Payouts, More Taxes, More Fires
California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara announced new insurance protections in 2021 that increased payouts and evacuation benefits for wildfire survivors. The new protections would mean "larger payouts for some claims and less red tape from insurance companies,” while not allowing rates to increase.
It seems like it all started with the Thomas Fire in 2017/2018, the largest CA wildfire until the Camp Fire, and then came the Debris Flow. That year there were several fires throughout the state that began on the same day: the Woolsey Fire, Hill Fire, and the destructive Camp Fire in Northern California.
Is it just me or does it seem odd that so many fires started across the entire state on the same day? Cal Fire has determined that 17 of the 21 major fires that year in Northern California were caused by power lines, poles, and other equipment owned by PG&E.
On the same day.
Arson?
Maybe, maybe not, but not likely caused by nature.
CA boasts the highest damage in the country from wildfires. Each year there is at least $4 billion in property damage in California; we have the highest incidence of major disasters, excluding hurricanes. California also had the greatest number of FEMA-declared disasters of any state.
Unnatural Natural Disasters
Per NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) these natural disasters are on an upward trend. The annual average number of disasters from 1980 to 2023 was 8.5 events. The annual average for the last five years? 20 events per year.
Man starts 95% of the fires, then blames “natural disaster” and “climate change” for the cause.
Edison agreed to pay the government $80 million to resolve damages associated with the Thomas Fire, further indicating that the fire was not “natural causes.”
An eight-month Los Angeles Times investigation found that: “government officials did not heed decades-old warnings to build bigger basins that could have made the mudslides far less catastrophic — and that Santa Barbara County failed to thoroughly empty the existing basins before the disaster, drastically reducing their capacity to trap debris.”
In addition, the county allowed development in flood zones, knowing these areas had suffered floods in the past. Edison used aerial photos from 1927, 1965, and 1975 to demonstrate how buildings and roads replaced agricultural lands, placing people and homes in harm’s way. “The study shows that both Montecito and Carpinteria have been hit with four other debris-charged events over the past 200 years that were larger than the 1/9 debris flow.“
Our local government knew of the past debris flows, knew they were not maintaining proper runoffs and knew they were not maintaining the reservoir properly. Then blamed Edison and Mother Nature for their failures.
The Reality of Cloud Seeding
Cloud Seeding is real. Man is indeed changing the climate. Not by driving gas powered cars, but by purposely putting silver and lead iodide into the air in such large concentrations to affect the weather over large regions. Cloud seeding is occurring all over the Western US; California, Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, North Dakota, Utah, and Idaho.
Ninety-five percent of fires are started by man, yet Climate Change is regularly blamed as the cause. Did climate change start the actual fire? Did climate change prevent utility companies from maintaining safe space between plants & trees from transmission lines; did man prevent safe measures? Did climate change cause water sheds to be built over? Did climate change prevent man from clearing debris basins? Did climate change perform cloud seeding?
Cloud seeding has been scientifically proven to change weather patterns, which is why governments are doing it. Notice how the government only talks about CO2 which makes up less than 0.04% of the atmosphere and CO2 levels have been decreasing over the decades while “natural disasters” have been increasing.
Just saying.
Did you hear about Dubai? The UAE was flooded after storms dumped more than a year and a half’s rain in just a few hours, flooding roads as well as the international airport based in the metropolis of Dubai. Rainfall is rare in the UAE Dubai flew cloud-seeding flights before the rains.
Cloud seeding basically creates an unnatural destabilization of clouds causing more rain to occur from a “wet cloud.” The “wetter” a cloud, the more rain that falls. The larger the cloud mass, the more rain. It’s unknown how much rain will fall from a seeded cloud formation, but estimates are from 15-35% extra rain for that storm. The issue is when a big cloud is destabilized it dumps its contents causing torrential rain, sometimes hail.
That’s seeding in a nutshell.
Man has very limited knowledge of the consequences of their actions and the compounded effects of nature. But they do know that cloud seeding can cause flooding.
In 1985-86 Santa Barbara did not cloud seed, citing potential flooding in burn areas. Well, isn’t that interesting?
Per 2017 KEYT news: “County hydrologist Matthew Scrudato says cloud seeding has increased rainfall over these reservoirs by as much as 21 percent. Even after our wet winter, cloud seeding continues along the Central Coast.” More on county cloud seeding, here, here, and here.
Thanks For Voting the Way you Do!
As we increase geo-engineering of the atmosphere throughout the country, disastrous weather has increased. Tennessee passed a bill banning geo-engineering of the atmosphere. Why would they ban something that is totally safe and does not cause flooding and property damage? Why would they ban something that is not real?
Now add inflation to the mix. Just as your expenses have outpaced your income: eggs, milk, gas, insurance, etc., … so have the expenses associated with labor, cars, computer components, parts required for repairs, government fees to rebuild, etc., …
It’s the ripple effect that no one understands. Government refuses to maintain safety measures, purposefully creates rain events using toxic chemicals, and then create an “unfriendly” business environment. Sounds like our government is not actually helping or looking out for us, just the opposite. They are creating the damage through purposeful and negligent actions then pointing fingers at nonsense like CO2 when in fact they are the ones poisoning the atmosphere by purposely placing toxic chemicals in the air, via “cloud seeding.”
Your voting choices have caused businesses to leave CA. They also have more to do with the extreme weather than one can imagine. Apparently however, the people of CA enjoy the "benefits” of voting Democrat.
They do it without thinking.
Repeatedly.
While you’re at it, please make sure to thank your local Board of Supervisors for the floods and the most recent debris flow.
This is so well-written. Thank you, Brian Campbell. It is so annoying how the Left (and also others) always cite climate change in regard to EVERY SINGLE weather event now.
Please let the voters of California and those of the nation PLEASE see the truth of what’s really happening. Your article says everything I’ve been telling anyone who will listen for the last few years. Your article is very persuasive, keep up the good work.
