I was a democrat most of my life. My parents immigrated here from Canada in 1956. My dad was an engineer, with several Masters degrees and a PHD. He had to have a job and company to sponsor him as a requirement to stay here.

I voted for Obama once. After that I swore I would never vote for a democrat again. Since then, the democrat party has only gotten worse. They are now the communist party, without question.

Salud is part of the problem. Instead of standing on his head to appease the woke mob, the LGBTQ radicals, the communists....He should be fighting to get the democrat party back on track.

The problem with this two party dominance in US politics is that you basically have two choices. It is a long road before any of these wacko third parties gain any traction and become even slightly significant with a platform that actually makes sense.

My advice is to not encourage the communists and vote Republican if you want tonsaventhis country

Angel is not interested in saving America. Angel is interested in saving himself from deportation. Angel believes a Latino voting block should vote in accordance with Latino identity for Latino benefit regardless of the impact on America as a whole.

It sounds like what you want is assurance that ILLEGAL immigrants will not be deported and that there be a clear path to citizenship for ILLEGAL immigrants. I for one do not welcome immigrants whose first act on American soil is to defy Americann immigration law. There is already a path to citizenship, return to Mexico and apply along the legal path like so many immigrants America welcomes.

Thank you for speaking up . It really does take courage, especially being a democrat (reformer) . Blessings to you ..

If we do not enforce our immigration laws and continue to do so, our country will collapse and result in the entire world destroying itself. Berney

I’m not sure I understand. If you are illegal you should be deported. I do agree that the democrat party is terrible and dies not do anything for the people in Santa Barbara. State street is a disaster. Highest property taxes on housing which makes it very difficult to own a home.

How about voting for republicans? That’s the answer to the problem.

Angel, thanks for your insightful comments. It is refreshing to see an article written by a Democratic that show that finally some are starting to realize that the are basically taken for granted by their own party. I appreciate that you are not switching your party allegiance but are looking for that party to do something for its members. I really don’t get to inability of congress to pass a DACA bill. I’m in the other party and I totally support a DACA program, it’s been too long coming. I doubt Carbajal will commit to a debate with Smith, not only does he have a lot to lose, but it would expose him as the empty suit he is. Hang in there , support a candidate that can actually help you regardless of political party. It’s time we voters stopped voting strictly on party lines, but for the candidate. Cheers

What can I say about the author’s comment.

The author just destroyed the entire Democrat Party. Look at this.

Qutoe: “, I no longer feel represented by the Central Coast Democrat Party….” The comment is you never were. The guy who helped destroy a working ag. has been proven a fraud. People are struggling to rename streets because they were fooled by a radical political activist. When I look at the history of the CCDP they knew they could fool the people and gain massive political power. They did it using radical Socialist speak and people who did not understand the U.S.

Quote: Watching close friends pack and leave. Do you suppose a legalized system for workers would have done two primary things? 1) Given legal status with work visas, and 2) With that legal status if they so choose could apply for citizenship. Mr. Carbajal was and is caught in a trap of the radicals. The “American Dream” you quote was there and because of politics of the party you support has been changed. Look at 1 & 2 in this paragraph and you will find why people like you were used.

The change at the border has resulted in the if not the one lowest murder rate, and crime rate in the country and State of Calif. In history. Is a safe community worth making sure people here are legal and do not have a criminal history? Every day in Calif. despite, not because of the CCDP, crime is down. I have two good friends who are legal green cards, have “legal” families and find the border and enforcement of laws to be right. (they will not speak out for fear of social ostracism) Where are they from? Mexico.

Congressman Carbajal has not been a “do nothing representative.” He has done exactly what his Democrat handlers have asked of him. If I run into Salud in public, I ask him how he is doing, what is going on with the family, etc. Why? Simple, outside of politics I think he is overall a decent guy. The problem you talk about with him, is one of politics. I’ll ask of you. Are you a Socialist who believes the foundation of this nation is needs to be taken apart? You have an option. Just 2 hours from Santa Barbara is a nation who adopts and supports the Socialist paradigm.

Your reasonable question “ What Happened to the “Dreamers?” is proper.

When you attempt to put a Band-Aid on a self inflicted wound this is what you get. They are the outcome of illegal flooding of the border. I’ll state once again re-read 1 & 2 above. There is your answer.

To the author Rodriguez I have been subject to death threat phone calls, threats of physical violence, and all because the people you swear allegiance to don’t want the return to 1) Given legal status with work visas, and 2) With that legal status if they so choose could apply for citizenship.

Thank you for this you lay bare problems of the CCDP. (now come the attacks)

Since the democrats typically all vote as a block for the position their leaders decide on, the effect is that Santa Barbara does not have a representative tuned to the needs of SB. In the past Mr. Carbajal's record has mirrored that of Pelosi. Now the demo's leaders in the House and Senate, Booker and Jeffries, are both elected by the same New Yorkers that elected the Mayor of New York City Mandami who wants rent control and higher taxes: sound familiar?

Are you and your friends ‘legal’ immigrants?

Jeff barton's avatar

Why do you suppose they fear deportation.

Thank you for the article. Why hasn't any politician presented any legislation on immigration with a clear path on how we can provide protection for workers without a criminal past. We would be lying if we said we don't need them here. We need our immigrant workers especially here in the central coast.
