Xi Feeling Weak! Biden's Last Squeak! For Russians, SB Fleek! Slab City Unique!

Strait Talk About Taiwan
“Xi says no one can stop China’s ‘reunification’ with Taiwan” (Straits Times)
The Taiwanese may have something to say—and do—about that.
No one can stop China's "reunification" with Taiwan, Chinese President Xi Jinping said in his New Year's speech on Dec 31, laying down a clear warning to what Beijing regards as pro-independence forces within and outside of the island of 23 million people.
Xi—and the Chinese in general—are very familiar Sun Tzu’s Art of War dictum: “Appear weak when you are strong, and strong when you are weak.”
Xi is appearing strong, which means he’s probably feeling weak.
If he could take Taiwan, Xi would have done so by now (under Joe Biden’s watch—rather, lack of watch).
But Xi has a problem.
Two, actually.
The Chinese economy is trade dependent. Through slave labor, China manufactures much of what is needed worldwide. They ship what they manufacture from massive ports in Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. Taiwan could retaliate by targeting these ports with Hsiang II and III missile systems and bring Chinese international commerce (60 % of its economy) to a standstill. War cannot be sustained in a poor economy.
Taiwan produces 90% of advanced computer chips, on which the CCP is highly dependent. In the event of an invasion, China would lose access to these chips, another devastating blow to their economy. Furthermore, the USA, Europe, and Japan have a vested interested in a) ensuring that China’s ports remain active and b) the continuity of semiconductor supplies.

“Cheney gets standing ovation as Biden awards Presidential Citizens Medal” (The Hill)
This falls into the same category as Joe’s all-encompassing pardon of his errant son Hunter (errant being a vast understatement).
Voters in Wyoming begged to differ about Cheney’s role in the kangaroo committee to “investigate” J6—and booted her out of Congress.
“Biden Exits Battling for His Legacy and Believing He Could Have Won” (WSJ)
Biden’s legacy has not altered course since former Defense Secretary Robert Gates famously declared, in 2014, "I think he has been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades.”
It was also in 2014 that Joe embarked on the Biden family criminal enterprise of using the Office of the Vice President to line the pockets of his family members and himself.
Which, of course, is why the wide-sweeping pardon he granted Hunter is retroactive to 2014, the year Hunter joined the board of Burisma, the Ukrainian energy company, even though his knowledge of oil was limited to the use of baby oil by prostitutes, on which he squandered the taxes he owed Uncle Sam.
The only remaining question is whether Hunter was witting or unwitting to the CIA operation being spun around him by former Agency counterterrorism chief Cofer Black, also on Burisma’s board.
“Biden ‘discussed plans to strike Iran nuclear sites before Trump inauguration’”
The last thing a lame duck president with cognitive issues should be doing is starting a war just weeks before a peaceful transition of power.
It comes after Mr. Sullivan said last month, he had briefed Mr. Trump on the “risk” of Tehran obtaining nuclear weapons.
Does no one remember that Trump, during his presidency, took a tough stand against Tehran due to this very issue—and Biden (to spite Trump) reversed the tough stance and enabled Iran to accelerate its nuclear weapons program?
Instead of questioning Biden’s nonsensical reversal, the sycophantic mainstream media applauded it.
“The further a society drifts from the truth,” wrote George Orwell, “the more it will hate those who speak it.”
The truth about Iran got lost—and is now catching up with us.
“Judge sets Trump's sentencing in hush money case for Jan. 10, but signals no jail time” (AP)
Methinks by now Americans are weary of frivolous never-before-prosecuted cases drawn up by partisan DAs who engage in lawfare instead of going after rapists and murderers and keeping violent criminals locked up.
A conviction from Judge Juan Merchan will be just another badge of courage for Trump to wear as he not only constrains nations hostile to the United States but also the Biden-tainted U.S. judicial system.

“Why post-Communist Russia fell in love with all-American soap ‘Santa Barbara’” (The Telegraph)
SB continues to enjoy mystical status in Russia due to an American television soap opera that ended over 30 years ago.
“We all wanna live in Santa Barbara!”
The men in Santa Barbara didn’t urinate in hallways, drink cheap eau de Cologne first thing in the morning or die of cirrhosis of the liver barely past their mid-fifties. The weather in Santa Barbara never fell to -30, nobody ever went hungry, and old babushkas were not “bent at the waist” and were not told by doctors when they became sic, that they’d “already lived quite long enough for an ordinary human being”.
One of the reasons Russians like Donald Trump is because he seems straight out of the soaps.
And that’s no hoax.

Slab City is the real thing, year-round. Though unlike Burning Man, no one from the high-tech elite flies in on private jets to show off their hipness and figure out how to synthesize ecstasy and keep everyone transfixed to their social media sites and apps.
Beyond Slab City is East Jesus.
East Jesus gets its name from the pioneers that “settled” North America.
East Jesus was slang the pioneers used when they were in the middle of nowhere or lost. One pioneer would ask the other, “Where the hell are we?” The other pioneer would scratch his nuts and say, “Darn, must be East Jesus.”
East Jesus is not just the end of the road but also a portal to another reality—or surreality.
The portal to East Jesus

Is China our sworn enemy? It depends who you talk to. Why then have there been thousands of Chinese nationals dominating STEM at UCSB? Are these students involved with sensitive technology and research, critical to US National Security? Wait, who has been Chancellor for the past 30 years?
