When I saw who went to the No Kings rallies around the country, I understood why the Dems are courting illegals, and not teaching assimilation to the young ones. They are the Dems only hope to stay in power. I got that the “Biden” administration was bringing in millions of illegals who'd vote for them. I just didn't realize how desperate their situation is. The weekend No Kings rallies were overwhelmingly attended by white Boomers, not even young white people. A friend in Florida described the people attending the No Kings rally where she lives as “escapees from assisted living.” An X posting showed that meanwhile, multi-ethnic groups of young people were attending the Trump/Army celebration. So this isn't just about courting illegals, it's about creating a class of illegals who are owned by the Dems. Because if they allowed them to actually assimilate and become free citizens they might very well choose to leave the Dem party, to see it as just a bunch of old white Boomers with nothing for them - which is exactly how it is. When you see what the Dems are doing it's more than just getting votes. It's about owning people. And isn't that slavery?
What is tragic is that public schools have become child care for working moms and dads. The students are the victims of indoctrination without basic education.
We should support the movement to attach the tax money per student to the student, and not the public school in their neighborhoods. Then it would get closer to an education free market. Our system is training a generation of baristas, living in their parents homes, waiting for AI to serve the customers mocha grandes from a machine at the drive thru window
Education shouldn’t be thought of as a “market”, that will further commodify the souls of children. A Free Appropriate Public Education is a CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT of every child, thus we are obligated to reverse the course it’s headed on and restore it to its rightful history using an academic, classical model.
Well written and well documented article on the current state of affairs here in the U.S.. What amazes me are the "arguments" that the naysayers spew out loudly. My only conclusion is that they are either bought and paid for, completely naive, or a little on the simple side. This whole issue is nothing more than a huge divisive ruse to put one group of people against another while the powers that be get richer and richer on both sides of the aisle.
I saw the segregation & special attention paid to illegal immigrates back in the 90s when my children came of school age. We visited the grammar school within the district that my children were to be sent to near the westside. There were four kindergarten classes, two for non-English speakers and two for English speaking children.During playtime, we also noticed that the kids self segregated into two groups, the English speakers and the immigrants. So sad to watch as our administrators divided the children. We chose to send our children to private for a couple of years, until we moved into a school district that more suited our vision of a single group of children treated equally.
So sad to see those in power making decisions based on race, ethnicity, and social backgrounds. I believe it is all by design. Part of the CCP’s (with WEF string pullers) plan to collapse Our Nation…
Whereas, some folks put their English speaking children with the Spanish speaking children and now they are BILINGUAL. ¿por qué no? At least your children would be able to correctly pronounce the names of their Hispanic classmates and the streets, cities, towns, mountains, streams, lakes, and rivers of our great State. ¡Que viva California!
I don't know if you are missing the point of the article, Stephen, or are just trying to be controversial. Yes, it would be fantastic if we all could speak different languages. I applaud that and think it is wonderful. Foreign language classes used to be mandatory way back but I am not sure now. The point is that English is the official language of this country and by not encouraging foreign speaking students and hopefully their parents to engage in the learning process, we are hindering both them and the English speaking students to get a good education. It really isn't rocket science to see that we are failing in that department.
My children are great speakers & do know some Spanish…they each progressed thru the Gate Program and went on to receive scholarships. My eldest received a 50% discount to attend UC Davis & my youngest received a full ride academic scholarship to Santa Clara, saving our family hundreds of thousands…to each his own
Very familiar with our education woes in the County. Your accurate description of the false narratives being presented in our schools is eye opening to say the least. As I scratch my head wondering how so many people can be mislead, I'm reminded that there's a mastermind behind all of this chaos. That's when I am grateful there are people that are not swayed by the Price of Darkness but see the Light and the Truth that tells us we are responsible for our children. And our children means those belonging to legal citizens and those in the process of becoming legal citizens. We are not responsible for the education of children that are in this Country illegally. Our current system (primarily in CA) in completely unfair to our children...they are not receiving the education they deserve. I pray things are changing. Blessings
A really good article, lots of historical facts, well constructed, follows the premise. Most obviously a professional writer. And no detectable AI influence which is welcome relief. Editors please note: The use of AI in articles can be detected by astute readers. Let’s try and avoid such material. The human voice that comes through in print articles is easily read, has a flow, a sense of pace and place. And this article has it. Well done. Bravo.
Thanks Vera for listing the facts. In order to become a state, the majority of the residents of California had to vote for it and agree to be bound by the U.S. Constitution.
How can we expect a teacher to conduct a class in multiple languages? Even if this were possible, it means that the half of the class time that is spoken in English is useless to the Spanish speakers, and vice versa, so in effect the teaching time will be cut in half.
LOL. You must know this is not true! The U.S. invaded Mexico and militarily occupied California, placing it under a military governor during its occupation. There was never any "vote." Once California was secured by the Treaty of Guadalupe in February 1848 it remained under military authority until it became a state with (are your ready?) a BILINGUAL CONSTITUTION enshrining the use of BOTH English and Spanish! WOW. Only after swarms of monolingual anglophiles relocated to California did a jingoist, racist "Native American Party" (1850's MAGA) institutionalize "English Only" White Supremacy in the Golden State. It took decades to undue this racist attack on California's rich heritage of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Being "brown" is not illegal, and neither is speaking Spanish (or any other language for that matter) - so take a deep breath and try to injest some California chill. As for bilingual education, why do you assume that our children are too stupid to speak more than one language? This is being done in many places around the world. Otherwise, how could all those "man on the street" interviews in foreign countries that you see on TV be conducted in English? Have you ever even seen Greta Thunberg speaking in Swedish? Give me a break!
It was written in English and a Spanish translation was created. California had just been annexed from Mexico after the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo (1848), ending the Mexican-American War. To honor the rights of existing Spanish-speaking Californios the convention made sure the constitution was accessible to both groups.
The article stated there were a few thousand Spanish/mexican elites who were given the missions to run when they secularized them. The Census shows there were a few thousand here.
Chumash were here first, Spanish, then Spanish/Mexicans along with Irish, Chinese, etc…
In 1848 America acquired the property. It is no longer Spain or Mexicos.
At that time the bulk of the population in CA were European Americans and Chinese followed by Mexicans.
Today’s Mexicans living in CA are not descendants of the Spanish/Mexicans.
The rhetoric of stolen land is yet another lie. It appears to be a who was here first, but who paid cash for the property while the other squats in it and bites all theur friends and family to squat in someone else’s property.
Soraking of, we’ll send dime illegals and homeless to your home. You leave it unlocked, right? You like allowing strangers to come in and take your wallet and rummage thru your fridge. You voted for these policies, then please take responsibility and open your house up.
Did you learn all this crap in a California public school? If so, this is proof of the substandard education provided in the 1950-70's. Alas, my education continued after elementary school, and not being a White Supremacist seeking to justify my racial superiority over the "others", I have come to other conclusions regarding the history of California. Hate will not make America great again, it will just return us to the failed inhumane and immoral politics of the 18th and 19th centuries. If rubbing elbows with brown people and treating them as equals is so disturbing to you, perhaps you should move to one of those all White sanctuary states back East somewhere. My house is unlocked, but my wallet, like yours, ain't got much in it because of the cost of living. If these "illegals" are "homeless freeloaders", why are ICE agents finding them at work picking your food, or cooking and washing dishes in restaurants, or at home in their rundown slumlord apartments paying excessive rents? ¿Podrías ser más estúpida o racista?
It's curious you say this Emmet, given your own adherence to historically false ideals like the Church being corrupted by paganism, and that Rome is the "Whore of Babylon". Moreover, it's curious you respond to Stephen, an obvious leftist liberal whom you know doubt are irritated bt given his politics, yet you ignore me, even if you also oppose my own views? Why is that? Why engage the leftist who seems more troll than anything - yet not the person genuinely questioning your own worldview?
Theo, last we left off I asked you for scripture to support your views. You replied with something to the effect that the devil quotes scripture.
Is that your reasoning for not following the Word of the Bible? Catholism does not adhere to the Bible, as evidenced by the numerous canons that attempt to change gods appointed times and laws. The Papal system admits openly to these changes saying they are a sign of their authority.
Man, discarding God.
I have yet to ignore you despite your inability to post any facts, details or scripture supporting your opinions.
You fail to read the supporting links and deny scripture. You appear to pick and choose what party’s of the Bible you agree with as if it were a choice.
lol. I live in an Active Adult Community and we’ve got so many Boomer Democrats it’s scary. Disagree, and many scream at you. Completely indoctrinated to Leftist ways. True to their TDS affliction, they turned out in admirable numbers for the No Kings protests.
Excellent piece Vera. I remember reading and article years ago about the Mexican ranchers in California and other Alta Mexican states. These Mexican ranchers were begging to become part of the U.S.A., because they were tired of being abused by the corrupt Mexican government.
Thank you for a good review of the FACTS. Our country belongs to the US of America. Those coming here must come legally and pledge allegiance to the USA and to the constitution. Last year, 1.5 million legal immigrants were legally Swarn into the USA. And that is the only way to be a citizen. Those people screeching on the streets , are out of touch with reality. We had a revolution to get out from under King George III of England. When General George Washington was offered to be a King of the new republic he said it was for the people. So, the people still run it today, and not a king.
Sorry Vera but I think I'm the exemption to your post. Is that the right word? I dunno. I should know since I have a college degree from the most esteemed university in the Southwest, Arizona State. But I also happen to be a gardener, of retirement age. I've spent the last 35 years working in Montecito and Santa Barbara, primarily for hospitality clients. I'm doing the best work of my life these days.
Thirty years ago I looked around and thought, "Hmmmm, this is kind of unfair that I working as a gardener and all of these amigos (illegals) are doing the same work for way less money."
But what could I do since most all of you reading this have probably used these guys or their spouses for workers at your homes. I get it. I couldn't fight it, I was outnumbered. And the government never came to my rescue nor protected me from unfair business advantage from foreign invaders.
So I'm okay with the situation, I love Mexican food! And we all know these people work hard, way harder than us gringos. And they will work seven days a week, those that work six are slackers.
I'm not happy with Trump & S. Miller casting a wide net to catch and deport the illegals, what can I do? I'll enjoy my burrito and hope the cook doesn't get deported.
(I think exception was the word. . . Go Sun Devils!)
Very honest article, most of the issues no one wants to talk about, having worked in public schools extensively, limited resources, special interest groups financially bennifiting from the crisis, resources are stretched too thin, it affects the quality of education for all, as demonstrated in consistent poor test scores and teachers constantly being overwhelmed by unrealistic demands.
Very revealing article, thank you for your honesty. I would also mention the role of the public sector unions in maintaining, defending and protecting our failing education system.
What we see today, locally and state wide is a reconstitution of the “Hacienda System ” which was the Latin American version of the European feudal system. Large landowners would basically enslave large swathes of indigenous peoples under Spanish colonization. Mexico, the southwest yes, but also involved South America, Argentina, Uruguay and others.
Just as in the past, today’s undocumented immigrants are in essence indentured servants to a white class, tending to their children, gardens, cleaning their homes, cooking their food and washing their cars.
A system that is beholden to the Democrat elite class, that has a vested interest in maintaining an uneducated, impoverished , cheap worker force.
All while the rest of society funds this system by our tax dollars and while our health care, educational, criminal justice and public housing are at crisis levels and failing.
Welcome to Leftist Santa Barbara and California. I wonder if those folks demonstrating this weekend at the “No Kings” protests understand how they are complicit in maintaining this legacy?
Interesting analogy the Hacienda system.. except for one difference. Our Hacienda illegals count in the Federal census, and so they create additional Congress members and federal funding for whatever district they reside in. That’s some big income for the democrats who harbor these ‘visitors.’
Lol. Stop dehumanizing yourself, JKate. You've turned yourself into a parody of a Leftist.
Polly, are you and Emmett being bullies. I noticed quite a number of deleted comments. Just wondering.
JK. Where do you live? We’re sending illegals and homeless to raid your fridge and stay with you.
Your policies invited these inhumane conditions. The least you could do is follow through on your opinions of welcoming all to your home.
JK. You are spreading disinformation. “undocumented immigrants as “illegals” “
They purposely, knowingly, broke laws which have jail time as a consequence.
Which means they are illegal. They are criminals.
Caesar Chavez said it, he helped the federal government round up illegals.
But you seem to disagree with Chavez, Clinton and Obama who called these criminals illegals.
Why do you refuse to look up, read and acknowledge the law? What other laws are options
In your opinion? Do you have a list?
Have your handlers told you what other laws are ok to break? Or are you awaiting further orders?
You’re spreading disinformation
Don't tell me … it was like Woodstock, right?
Total Woodstock! Minus the mud.
So a dictator allowed peaceful protesting. Very generous of him not to send in the national guard to break up peaceful protesting.
Huh, Biden would have been calling every No King person a terrorist.
And then go look at this, my dear.

to that Corruption. I have what is now referred to as "THE RECIEPTS."
Of course, you are not going to LOOK because you to not want to SEE.
And you’re ridiculous. Raskin, have you rebranded yourself?
