Courage.
A simple yet powerful word. It can apply to a multitude of things. Courage to ride a roller coaster. Muster the courage to jump from an airplane. Courage to eat something you really don’t like. To run into a burning building to save a life. Courage to talk with a friend or family member about something not so pleasant. We all have a little bit of the cowardly lion in us about one thing or another but most of the time we muster the courage to do what needs to be done.
In this New America, we are lacking the courage to exercise our First Amendment rights. The ability to speak freely when we know something is wrong is a powerful gift. But things are changing, and it’s been sneaking up on us. Voices of common-sense thinkers have been muffled and the impact is having serious repercussions.
We have been surrendering our freedom of speech at a rapid pace since the Obama/Biden crowd took control of the country.
Why have we allowed it to happen?
The answer is simple; fear of being terrorized, your business destroyed, the safety of your own well-being or coming under attack or being bullied on social media.
December 15: Birthday of the U.S. Constitution
It takes a lot of courage today to speak out against the left because of their campaign of terror and intimidation. Over the years, for example, I’ve received behind-the-scenes praise for my writing and have then been asked to please not use their name, terrified the left would come after them. Others have told me they wished they could express their own feelings publicly but couldn’t take the chance of what it could do to their business. In a community such as “liberal” Santa Barbara – where 64% voted Democrat in 2020 – people have a right to be nervous.
Does that sound like America? It’s more akin to the stories we’ve heard all our lives about East Germany, North Korea, China. Not the United States. We’re losing those rights and freedoms faster than our money at the grocery store. A human tsunami is flooding into our land-of-the-free over our southern border at a rate of 8,000 people a day to share in those freedoms.
But they may be coming late to the party.
For the time being, we still have a Constitution designed to protect American citizens who have lived by its rules for 247 years. Today also marks 233 years since the ratification of the Declaration of Independence. But there’s a faction in this country that wants to rip everything up and destroy what has worked for over two centuries. So far, they’re doing a good job of getting away with it.
Let’s examine this tragic phenomenon for a minute. Who are the ones trying to shut you up using terror and hate and who are the ones who merely want to have their voices equally heard? The answer is quite simple. I’m going to lump all the liberal groups i.e., Antifa, BLM, Climate Cultists, FBI, DOJ, mass media, colleges, universities, and others under the umbrella of left-wing democrats. Those are the haters who want to amputate your right to free speech. They have snatched the power to decide what you’re permitted to talk about and whether what you say is considered “hate” speech.
We Can Win this Fight
On the other side of the spectrum are moms, business owners, farmers, churchgoers, and Americans who are struggling to make a living under the hardships this administration has imposed upon them. President Biden keeps trying to make the case what we really have to worry about are white supremacists. But I haven’t seen any of these dangerous white supremacists masked up and burning down, shooting up the streets, flash-mob “shopping” or threatening the lives of America haters.
All the violence, the anger, the harm, the threats are all coming from one source: liberal democrat socialists, or whatever title fits. Because of the left’s successful fear campaign and intimidations, they’ve stripped good Americans of the courage to speak up against them.
That is terribly wrong.
We’ve already seen how strong we can be. There is hope and some progress is being made. Budweiser, Target, and even Disney, took huge hits for being stupid. Some school boards have been replaced. Ivy Leagues have been exposed and under fire for being antisemitic. We are powerful and we need to respond. We won’t come after them with guns, riots, or threats.
We don’t need to go low; we’ll do it using intelligence and honor.
If they continue to shove DEI, biological male athletes in girls’ sports, frighten kids into believing they’re something they’re not, claiming everything is racist, we can shut down their crusade of hate and anger.
If we can figure out how to stop them from cheating during an election, we can win. What we need is the courage to keep the pedal to the metal; the courage to take the leftists on everywhere and anywhere.
The courage, in other words, to reclaim our Constitutional rights.
“Success is not final; failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts.” – Winston Churchill
What a great message Henry!! I agree with you 100%. We must look at the progress we are making, no matter how big or small. They have every thing to lose, and we have so much to gain. They are losing and we are gaining on them, and PURE COURAGE by continuing to SPEAK TRUTH is going to be the fuel that keeps us going and gets us to the other side! TRUTH IS A LION, you do not need to defend it, it will defend itself.
I would venture to state that many conservatives are in businesses and can't afford to speak out because of the threat of "bricks through windows," or worse. I will also speculate that the "rent a demonstration crowd" don't own a business and are employed by a government related agency (including schools).
One protester expresses freedom of speech and suffers possible loss of livelihood and the other protests and risks nothing. Conservative courage has to be channeled in a less obvious way to be effective; being able to gentle discuss the facts is a valuable choice. Thank you for the piece.
