Most people on welfare vote Democrat. As citizens fall thru the cracks of society. Those individuals may, or may not vote Democrat. But an illegal alien getting free handouts. Will most likely vote Democrat. This free handouts to illegal aliens is a way for the Democrats to buy votes. Especially when these illegal aliens are given driver licenses, and blue states don’t validate citizenship at the voting booths. This is an attack on our Democracy done by the Democrats.

Great read.

Dem “leaders “ working hand in glove with NGOs to overrun our country seems downright treasonous IMO.

This ending quote states it all.

"In summing up, when ineligible people of all kinds take Medicaid benefits fraudulently, they not only suck up taxpayer resources, but they also reroute precious, finite resources from legitimate Medicaid recipients who already must compete for a limited pool of providers..."

Rome was hardly 25 by 25 miles. Every possession of Rome were conquered lands. Rome using serious income from these lands started offering circus, food, and more. ROME EVENTUALLY WENT BROKE with this Socialist State. Think about it..... From Constantinople to the British Isles, from Germany to all of Northern Africa. The bringing of Pax Romana. In spite of all this it could not afford what became the Socialist Dictatorship of ...Caesar.

As stated a limited pool of providers and taxes.

California is the classic example of what the nation will become if this continues.

Open borders, illegals voting, corrupted voter rolls, and the list goes on.

This is a party and State that has become mentally unstable based upon greed of the taxpayers wallet.

Just when you think it can’t get any worse, it does. Some monster today, shot up a Catholic Church filled with praying children. I have no idea of the motivation of this individual responsible, but as I said, a truly evil, wicked, demonic death cult is among us. The rhetoric and hatred against Christianity must stop now. God help us all.

Umm, I think it’s something much more sinister. It appears the perp had HIS name legally changed from “Robert” to “Robin” and had hate Trump leanings. This could be a reminder/repeat of what happened in Nashville at a Christian school.

Hope we get some detailed information this time.

The fact that they’re suing to try and stop the information from becoming available to the public says everything you need to know about the Democratic party. These slimy slugs cannot endure the light of day. Everyone, Please continue to shine the light and expose these treasonous despicable bastards. Make sure your liberal friends understand the points being made in this piece. Change hearts and minds by using truth and common sense as tools

More irrefutable evidence in the ongoing attempts of bankrupting the US Treasury, perpetrated by the Democratic Party. The importing of low skilled, uneducated, impoverished, non-white illegal immigrants is all part of the master plan. In conjunction with their allies in the Unions, it’s all designed to undermine our middle class.

It’s been even worse lately, due to the desperation of the woke, liberal left as their poll numbers continue to circle the bowl. So what do they do in response? Frivolous lawsuits, sit ins, demonstrations, threats of violence, civil unrest and accusations of racism for starters.

“Blue cities” are such notorious hellholes that the National Guard is required in order to maintain law and order.

One would think the most to lose are senior citizens on fixed incomes, receiving Medicare and Social Security benefits. It is truly maddening how many of this group are the same people so adamant about giving away their tax dollars to illegals.

It has never been so obvious that the Democratic Party is falling apart before our eyes, and undergoing a metamorphosis into a truly evil, wicked and demonic death cult.

Socialism and criminality is the new liberalism.

Spot on! Well presented data that does not lie.

CA will spend approximately $9 BILLION of taxpayers's money for medical care alone for illegal aliens...including funding their anchor babies. What possible rationale is there for that? It is not compassion...clearly not to the poorest legal residents.

Worse, the most helpless among us, those in the Special Needs community, are grossly under funded year after year, in no part because they do not have the "in your face" advocacy, i.e., Carbajal, SB City Council etc...that are enjoyed by the illegal community.

Shame on us.

Julia Gonzales's avatar

Well, this shouldn’t be a problem much longer since taco, and his flunkies are booting them all out of the country.

Democrats are not the only ones who support "Giving America’s (and Americans’) Bounty Away for Free." The uniparty gives Israel over 4 billion of our money per year, much of it used for genocide. How do people on this page feel about that?

Thomas John's avatar

David, so what is it I hear about the undocumented community actually paying more into Medicaid than they receive? Not a loaded question - something I've heard that I haven't looked into.

Jeff barton's avatar

I have heard that driving an electric car will help prevent climate change. That's bullshit too.

Thomas John's avatar

You don't believe in climate change so who cares? But you drive Fords so all your thoughts are suspect.

TVW's avatar

I don't believe he said he did not believe in climate change... did I miss that?? I don't know of anyone who doesn't believe in climate change... climate has always changed for millions of years… The only thing that doesn't change is the fact that the climate is always changing

To quote one of the greatest Americans of our time..."Thank you for your attention to this matter"...

Jeff barton's avatar

To believe model predictions of an insoluble chaotic system is naive. Predictions which cannot be tested about climate in the distant future. Predictions so far in the future that those making the predictions will all be dead.

Thomas John's avatar

Your understanding of modeling is naive. The weather is indeed chaotic. But climate is governed primarily by the energy balance of the planet (and yes a little chaos) and can be modeled reasonably well.

Climate models (and groundwater models, atom bomb models, etc. etc.) are tested via hindcasting - where they run models with historical data to see how well they reproduce observed records. Crappy ones are discarded.

You won't agree or like this paper, but it shows that climate models have been pretty decent at predicting temperature trends. It's dated but a good overview.

https://www.carbonbrief.org/analysis-how-well-have-climate-models-projected-global-warming/

But yes, most of us on this substack will be dead before SB's climate is like Tijuana.

I'm glad you've got two words on the topic. Al Gore is a politician for sure. He should aspire to be a grass expert like our current leader. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/lAWX6AxZEKg?feature=share

Jeff barton's avatar

Or is it naive to pull up an article by Zeke Hausfather, a climate grifter who writes climate models for a living who claims that climate models are credible?

Thomas John's avatar

Still waiting for the phd explanation of how chaos applies to climate modeling. I'm sure a perpetual postdoc can come up with an answer that keeps Trump happy.

Thomas John's avatar

Maybe you're jealous h's from Cal and not a Bruin? How about some explanation of your naivety on modeling? That's what I really want to hear about dr. Barton.

LT's avatar

News flash TJ, we just had to borrow $3.4 billion dollars to cover costs of illegals.

https://calmatters.org/health/2025/03/medi-cal-budget-shortfall/

Brian MacIsaac's avatar

And that’s just in California alone!

Thomas John's avatar

And if you read to the bottom of that article the total cost is even more - 8.5 billion.

Federal Funding

The federal government covers a large share of Medicaid costs through the Federal Medical Assistance Percentage (FMAP).

FMAP varies by state based on per-capita income (poorer states get more federal help).

Example: In 2024, Mississippi had a federal match of ~78%, while California received the minimum of 50%.

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) expansion population is funded 90% by the federal government.

Programs like CHIP (for children) and DSH payments (for hospitals serving many low-income/uninsured patients) also bring in additional federal dollars.

All of these funds come from the general U.S. Treasury, which means federal income taxes, corporate taxes, and other revenue sources contribute.

State Funding

States are responsible for the remaining share of Medicaid costs. They pay through:

General tax revenues (income, sales, and corporate taxes, depending on the state’s system).

Provider taxes (fees on hospitals, nursing homes, managed care organizations) — more than 40 states use these.

Special funds (lotteries, tobacco settlement funds, etc.).

In some states (like New York), local governments also chip in, often through property taxes.

How Taxpayers Fit In

Unlike Medicare, which is funded largely through a payroll tax (FICA), Medicaid has no dedicated tax.

Instead, it’s financed out of general revenues at both the federal and state levels. This means taxpayers contribute indirectly through:

Federal income and corporate taxes.

State taxes (income, sales, property, etc.), depending on where they live.

Common Misconceptions

“Medicaid has a payroll tax like Medicare” → False. Medicaid has no dedicated payroll tax.

“Only Medicaid enrollees benefit” → Not true. Medicaid funding also stabilizes hospitals, nursing homes, and emergency rooms, reducing the burden of uncompensated care (over $40B in U.S. hospitals annually). This helps the broader healthcare system, even for those who never enroll.

Bottom line:

Taxpayers do fund Medicaid, but indirectly through federal and state general revenues — not through a specific payroll deduction. Federal and state governments share costs, and the split depends on each state’s economy and policies.

Can you please supply that data and the source? At this time there are four "Likes" to your post... perhaps one of those four could respond also.

david mccalmont's avatar

How's that possible? The average visit to Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital E.R. costs above $2,000 just to cover the overhead. All procedures cost extra. Unless an illegal has been here over two decades, has a good job and rarely goes to the doctor or hospital, it's impossible to have paid more into the system than he has received back. Besides, Democrats and others whose goal it is to override traditional America and subsume it to a more compliant populace dependent on a Democrat-run socialist regimen, the factor of input/outgo, revenue/cost ratio isn't even considered. They don't care. That's not the purpose behind their perfidy. Revolution and transformation is!

GM's avatar

To give to immigrants vs citizens. That's the goal

Thomas John's avatar

In California, that is likely true. CA is one of a handful of States that extends this service to the illegal/undocumented. I'll take a pass on the subsume and revolution part.

What demographics? You mean the demographics that relate to each and every illegal immigrant...from alll 160 nations...or?? What is your suggestion on how to process illegal aliens while sending them HOME? Fort Bliss has been home to thousands of American soldiers..defending our country and its' borders. It is not a dungeon, it is most a transfer station. What is your point? Be specific please...how else does the US return these criminals HOME???

They are being deported... being temporarily detained is part of the deportation process... They're not being held there in perpetuity... they're being sent HOME...going through facilities like Fort Bliss... Unless of course there are warrants for their arrest for crimes committed in this country, besides illegally entry.

I don't think you're familiar with the process and if your source of information is from the mainstream media, you are more than likely being grossly misled.

some have been held in camps for over a year?

How long has Trump been president? 7 months?

you liberals are so full of hate you can’t even think straight!

pathetic!

cheers

TVW's avatar

You'll have to do your own research in regard.

I'll give you a hint though. Trump has only been in office seven months…I can't account for the five months proceeding your inquiry about the welfare of illegal aliens being held for over a year. Must be some really, really bad hombres, however... because Biden and his traitorous cohorts such as Mayorkas had zero interest in enforcing immigration law.

Yes, CEOs should be held fully accountable, just as Newsom, Salud Carbajal and the majorities of the City Councils of Carpinteria and Santa Barbara. They are all complicit with aiding and abetting.

Lou Segal's avatar

20% of all Americans are on Medicaid. In California it is 40%. The author didn't mention that one of the things that Obamacare did was push millions of Americans into Medicaid. Medicaid has become the biggest health insurer of Americans, something that was never envisioned when the system was implemented in 1965.

Chuck santry's avatar

David, great writ up, thanks! Interesting fact as you pointed out 20% of those processed through Ellis island went home. If the Medicare program bans aid to those who are non citizens then why does the federal government not prosecute? Getting all these state offenders into a courtroom setting would be incredible. Cheers

david mccalmont's avatar

Naturally under Biden, there was no intention to prosecute illegals receiving Medicaid largess. Democrats were deliberately side-stepping the law and shoveling bribe-money into the pockets of illegals. If anybody should be prosecuted and dragged through the court system, it should be the criminals who gave them the money in total opposition to our laws on the books. The most that should be done with the illegals receiving illicit money is to require them to pay the money back. Should they wish, on the other hand, to self-deport, the debt return would be lifted from their "jacket" as soon as proof is provided they have landed on foreign soil.

TVW's avatar

Agree w/ the payback...less any benefits they received while here such as schools, subsidized housing, processing, transportation back HOME, etc. Basic double entry accounting. Fair is fair.

Julia Gonzales's avatar

I don’t know why I’m still so surprised and amazed at the lack of compassion some of you elitist people have. Heaven forbid any of you ever need a helping hand and have to apply for Medicaid or any kind of social services? Then some bureaucrat wants to come along and randomly look at your records and see what’s going on in your life. How would you feel if the organization just handed your records over to anyone who wanted to see them? Would it be OK with you if they did that instead of protecting your privacy?

I would really like to know how these illegal immigrants get people, in every office and various states to OK these applications, and all the people that work in social services to push these applications through. Are there no Republicans and law abiding people working in these offices to report the shenanigans?

david mccalmont's avatar

Until January 20, 2025, we can safely assume "there [were] no Republicans and[or] law abiding people working in [Medicaid] offices to report...shenanigans"!
