Is There a Message in the April 8 Solar Eclipse?
Solar eclipses are always dramatic events and this year’s total eclipse is likely to ratchet up the drama even more as Nature displays its awesome and mysterious power.
The sky will be darker.
The eclipse will be longer.
And, though most eclipses fall over unpopulated areas, such as bodies of water, this one transits a wide swath of land in the center of the U.S., one of just a few such eclipses in American history.
Americans experienced an eclipse in 1776, the official beginning of this nation. The Declaration of Independence from Britain was issued on July 4 that year and we have celebrated it ever since. George Washington was alerted that there was going to be an eclipse. He told his soldiers not to be distressed when it happened. Washington prayed and took it as a sign that a new nation was about to form.
Another eclipse occurred 241 years later: in 2017. It lasted for an hour and 33 minutes. This celestial event – only 33 miles wide – entered at Salem, Oregon, and went over seven American cities called Salem. It spoke of seven years of peace since that is the meaning of Salem. Donald Trump was inaugurated on January 20, 2017. there was relative peace across the world, no world wars, low inflation, and reasonable gas prices. There were the Middle East peace accords and North Korea backing off from its militant stance.
This eclipse ended at Fort Sumpter, where the American Civil War began.
The path of the 2017 eclipse crosses over the path of the upcoming 2024 event like a giant “Cross” across the continental USA. The exact spot of this crossover is Cedar Lake in Jackson County, Illinois, the center of which is a little path called Salem Road.
From Salem to Ninevah
The April 8th eclipse enters the USA Monday at Eagle Pass, Texas. It is right on the Texas border. As we know, this town has been the gateway for millions of invaders (aka “newcomers”) for years until it was closed down by Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
Eagle Pass is also the place where the last of the Civil War rebels, Confederate soldier General Joseph Shelby, refused to surrender. He was considered the undefeated rebel. Shelby took the Confederate battle flag, wrapped it around a rock, and sunk it into the Rio Grande in 1865, at the exact spot where the 2024 eclipse starts. Shelby was the last Civil War soldier standing against America.
The first 2017 sign was peace; the second 2024 sign is Nineveh.
Monday’s eclipse will pass over seven cities called Ninevah.
Jonah and the Whale
Why is this important? Nineveh was the capital of the Assyrian empire, where the prophet Jonah was sent by God to preach repentance. Assyrian warriors had invaded the northern part of Israel and took ten tribes captive. They committed huge atrocities like skinning their captives alive. They finally had to withdraw after God, according to the Bible, sent an angel that slaughtered 185,000 Assyrian soldiers about to invade Jerusalem. Afterwards, Jonah was called upon to preach to them in Ninevah.
When it seemed as though the boat he had boarded was about to go down in a huge storm, he turned away from God and jumped on a ship heading away from the rebellious city. Jonah confessed to the crew that he had been running from God, so they threw him overboard to get him off the ship and stop the storm. A whale swallowed him and for three days and three nights he survived in the whale’s belly. Finally, the huge animal spit him out on a beach, where Jonah promptly decided to obey God and inform Ninevah that they had 40 days to repent.
Interestingly, when you fall into a whale’s belly, its gastric juices can turn you into a bleached white color. So, imagine Jonah showing up in Ninevah as a wide-eyed albino, preaching that God had given this city 40 days to repent. Not only did Jonah appear naked and bleached white coming out of a whale’s mouth, but his eyes were ablaze. Jonah’s freaky appearance scared the Ninevites into repentance. This weird man showed up on the beach just as the sky went dark. NASA has recorded an eclipse over that area at the same time Jonah was preaching.
Ninevah was a city full of bloodthirsty warriors who were known for their viciousness, but when the Ninevites saw Jonah, they fell into great fear and repented.
Is there Prophetic Significance to all this?
Schools around the eclipse path have been advised to close on April 8; the National Guard is being deployed to keep order with the huge crowds of people coming to watch the event. The mayor of Niagara Falls expects a million people to descend upon his city since that area is an excellent viewing point.
CERN (European Center for Nuclear Research) operates the world’s largest particle accelerator. They are set to smash protons together to search for invisible particles secretly powering our universe. The accelerator sits 300 feet underground at the border of France and Switzerland. Scientists are searching for more evidence of the “god particle” (also known as the Higgs Boson).
It is scheduled to occur on the same day as Monday’s eclipse.
The Sign of the Fish
Nicola Fox, Associate Administrator for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate, says “This year’s total solar eclipse will be at least partially visible to all in the contiguous United States, making it the most accessible eclipse this nation has experienced in a generation.” The sun is 400 times bigger than the moon but is 400 times further away so appears to be about the same size. At the time of the eclipse, the sun and moon will line up perfectly and there will be no light in the sky.
Jesus said, “There shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon and in the stars,” (Luke 21:25). Jesus also said, “No sign shall be given except the sign of Jonah…” (Luke 11:32)
He is talking about the last days.
Salem means peace and Ninevah translates to “fish house.” The sign of the fish represents Christianity.
This eclipse should not make you feel unstable. Be encouraged and let not your heart be troubled.

For those concerned with preserving free speech on our local campuses and protecting the unborn, consider attending Seth Gruber’s presentation at the Reagan Ranch Center on Thursday, April 11 from 7 to 9 pm. Seth is CEO of White Rose Resistance, one of the fastest-growing pro-life groups in America and he has recently been denied from presenting at his alma mater, Westmont College. Don't get fixated on supposed signs, the end times will come when it comes. And I don't know about Protestants, but as a Catholic there is no such thing as the rapture, the idea of avoiding suffering because of our Christian status is not in alignment with Christianity. Christ suffered on the cross and expects us to pick our own up as well and to assist our neighbors. Focus on repentance and living in alignment with God's will and plan for humanity.
Looks like the eclipse will go over two cities named Nineveh, not 7. But let's not let facts get in the way shale we? https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2024/04/05/april-8-eclipse-totality-path-nineveh/73215252007/
