REPUBLICAN COLE CHALLENGES CARBAJAL TO SIX DEBATES
Santa Barbara – 24th Congressional District Republican candidate Thomas Cole is officially challenging incumbent Democrat Salud Carbajal to a series of six debates over the next ninety days to be sponsored and moderated by willing members of the media in the tri-county region.
“I am today challenging Salud to meet me in debate six times, twice in San Luis Obispo County, twice in Santa Barbara County, and twice in Ventura County, between now and the end of October. I am asking members of the local media to step forward and offer to arrange the debates.” Cole said. “I will meet Salud anywhere at any time.”

The “Secret” is Out
Cole said debates are “imperative” due to the “huge gulf between us on the issues of open borders, inflation, energy independence, parental rights, and involvement in foreign wars.” The voters have a “right to hear from Salud directly. He needs to stop hiding behind his taxpayer-paid district newsletters and face the public.”
Cole is asking interested members of the media to contact him at 805-637-4702 if they are interested in sponsoring these debates.”
Why has this not been reported, released, or shared publicly?
Is there a possibility that information is being kept from you and others?
Is it being overlooked or deliberately ignored?
Hey Salud, SB Current will host one of your debates in Santa Barbara!
UPDATE
KEYT has proposed a date of October 13th for a debate between Salud Carbajal and Thomas Cole, 24th Congressional District candidates. Mr. Cole accepted but suggested it should be an earlier date. They are waiting for Salud to reply.
Here We Go Again
Did you all receive your Measure P flier in the mail? Walls are crumbling, why, was there a plumbing leak? What prevents them from funding the necessary repairs and upkeep? The lack of funds for repairs raises questions about financial management.
They could consider leasing campus facilities for English Language schools, other schools, weddings, events, car shows, dinner parties, and political gatherings.
It appears, however, that they are already engaging in such practices. This prompts an inquiry into the allocation of the generated revenue, which ought to be directed towards the maintenance, upkeep, and enhancement of the property.
Additionally, one must question the destination of the funds collected from attendees at sporting events. The recurring issue of maintenance neglect raises significant concerns. For years, I have inquired about the purpose of maintenance departments when their responsibilities are not adequately fulfilled.
The recent distribution of the Measure P flyer prompts further reflection on the state of our facilities, as evident in the crumbling walls and unresolved plumbing leaks.
The presence of leaking roofs and damaged ceilings indicates a (let’s use one of their words) systemic failure in addressing maintenance issues. It is perplexing that the damaged ceilings were not repaired following the leak. Additionally, the deteriorating conditions of bathrooms and outdated plumbing highlight a pressing need for financial resources dedicated to necessary repairs. The question remains: why is there a lack of funding for these essential maintenance tasks?
Measure P would not increase tax rates beyond the amount already approved by voters.
This is what they are telling us.
Measure P is asserted to maintain tax rates at levels previously sanctioned by voters, without imposing any additional financial burden. However, this claim raises concerns regarding the integrity of the educational system, as it suggests a potential disconnect between the administration's assurances and the actual implications of extending funding measures.
This pattern of behavior, whereupon voters are led to believe their contributions will not escalate, undermines the principle of accountability. Once a funding measure is established, it often becomes a permanent fixture, perpetuating a cycle of dependency on taxpayer support without a definitive conclusion.
In reality, an extension does equate to an increase. This pattern is not new; voters approve measures with specified end dates, yet extensions are frequently proposed. This strategy seems designed to normalize ongoing tax contributions, ultimately leading to a continuous financial obligation for taxpayers.
Talking With SBCC Students
The recent initiative to enroll all California students in CalFresh has necessitated the hiring of an additional 98 or 99 employees to manage the increased caseload. This expansion in staffing is likely a direct response to the influx of applications from students, many of whom, despite living with their parents, are eligible for the program.
In discussions with several students, it has become evident that the financial support provided by CalFresh significantly enhances their living conditions. For instance, four students residing together reported receiving over $1,200 monthly, which they utilize to host social gatherings.
Notably, these individuals are not residents of Santa Barbara County, yet they are renting a two-bedroom unit that a family of four or two of our workforce members could live in.
City Council Still On Break
Weeks ago, at open public comment, about four or five people from Santa Barbara informed our City Council about Sex Trafficking happening right here in Santa Barbara.
You won’t hear much from the City Council on that as they are on another break after their 20-minute meeting of July 30, 2024. I believe they may return Tuesday August 27, 2024.
Remember, they want you to vote for Measure I, another ½ cent added to our sales tax. There was already an additional one cent added a few years back due to lack of money for infrastructure maintenance… Sound familiar?
This time, proponents claim not to have the money to keep neighborhood fire stations open… or the library open….
Why?
What it is really all about is to get the money – millions – to give to nonprofits so they can build more housing that again will not be on the tax rolls and will hurt our schools, fire, and police departments, etc.
A few Mondays ago, I walked State Street from Mission Street to Cabrillo Blvd. All pedestrians were on the sidewalks, joggers, runners in groups all on the sidewalk, dog walkers on the sidewalk. The millions spent on the Pedestrian Promenade could have been used towards the libraries, fire stations etc.
Just saying…
A Reader Wrote
“Why isn’t the Fairview and Calle Real area (primarily Fairview) not included in the rehabilitation? It is so bad I avoid that intersection, and shop less frequently at the stores in the area.”
Gretchen, that is because these road-tax moneys that are supposed to go to roads are part of the bike path and the only money the government (your elected officials) spends on our roads is for bike paths and road dieting. Looks like Goleta is following the agenda, just like Santa Barbara.
Now I Have a Question
Can we get rid of Salud like we did Das? Why doesn’t Salud debate? We need to demand some debates.
Contact his office and ask him as your representative to debate, ASAP. Santa Barbara office - 805-730-1710 Washington DC office - 202-225-3601

“Salud” is translated as “ health”
This is the definition of irony, as our congressman is in lockstep with his Democrat party- their policies create societal disease and death. I would love to see him replaced by Thomas Cole, and would like to see a debate on the issues. We are about to witness the spectacle of the DNC convention. Pay attention to their policies- they are not healthy for individuals, families, the nation, or the world.
Sightings of SB Republicans is about as rare as sightings of the California Condor. This needs to change. We as conservatives need to be out in the open in public spaces, stating our case and sounding the alarm about the pending financial doom due to decades of mismanagement and plain old fashion incompetence and fraud which has been perpetrated by the Democratic machine on the taxpayers of SB County.
Hey Carbajal, “Come out, come out, where ever you are!”
Don’t expect any help from the local “media” as they are part of the problem, carrying the water for the left establishment. Giving cover, not asking the tough questions as to why our academic institutions are crumbling and where did the money go? How is it maintenance is deferred, resulting in needed massive repairs? Clearly, there needs to be forensic audits conducted and a Grand Jury needs to be asking some tough questions!
