Does anyone remember the Entrada Project? Does anyone remember the fraudster who drove to high school in his very very expensive car, and then became the magic wand developer who bankrupted the project?
Does anyone remember the partner in $millions of projects with fake money living in Hope Ranch in a house with almost no furniture?
Does anyone remember the fake non-profits who said we are here to save you from yourself and we will destroy the streets (but don't worry - it is tax dollars)?

Does anyone remember Schneider (bike paths for all, and how much debt can we put on taxpayers by expanding City Hall?) Does anyone remember Schwartz (bike path never used over Ortega Ridge to alleviate the need for widening 101 and spend spend spend?).
See people, when you buy into the dream of don't worry inflation will take care of your present day debt you are a fool and have been taken by "Tax & Spend" idiots you elected to office.

My goodness: 60-years in a nutshell. Good intentions of the late semi-great LBJ creating the Great Society programs while charging Americans for Vietnam. Flash forward to Biden who with the help of blue states governors loaded the Great Society programs with millions of migrants while charging Americans for their shutting down private industry (great way to send manufacturing elsewhere) for COVID. The added cost of open borders and sanctuary cities requires that California resist any efforts by the Trump administration to only include citizens in the Great Society programs. Meanwhile California's leaders keep searching for other ways to fund their frivolities including clever wording of the Propositions on the ballot for November.
This was an amusing way of presenting a disaster for the country. It should be in every newspaper.
I would add the debt liability to every federal taxpayer: $286,102 of real money, and to every citizen of real money: $119,565. One way or the other, these debt ratios will come home to roost on both taxpayers and citizens.
Federal unfunded liabilities get very little attention, but among them are the facts that Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid are running out of money. Where will the additional money come from to fund them? Will they become rationed?
Are their solutions? Or, must America suffer another, but worse, great depression? Neither the current federal government, nor the increasingly socialist Democratic Party offer any comfort in this regard.

Six of them stated that a study of a specific plant species (I seem to recall it being phytoplankton) may indicate that human activity was creating Ozone damage. The rest disagreed. Media went with the former.
Concurrently both the EPA and the NOAA had been implemented under the Nixon Admin as a reaction to the Platform A drilling accident in the SB Channel. (A was the first offshore project).
That launched what became an activism movement creating myriad Env 501.c.3 organizations, all of which (as mission creep reared its head) took the Hole in the Ozone Layer to Global Warming, winding up in Anthropogenic Climate Change. Humanity became the enemy.
This was the series of drivers creating the various policy disasters Brian has so perfectly written on.
Working in rules development for the State early on, I was taught that Politicians really are followers. The "job" required two things generally speaking.
1. Act as place holders for the office they have obtained.
2. Get re elected.
But here is "the deal". Politics really is downstream from Culture, which is where Politicians get their marching orders. Hence that sage, albeit wry comment attributed to Ronald Reagan that went something like: "The most terrifying words a person can hear is that I am from the Govt and I am here to help."
There are more world competition factors. Such as China sitting on over 1.5 billion barrels of oil as their SPR. Meanwhile the US is 286 million. A 90 day reserve basically.
Have you noticed how the government has been favoring China for years.
With a large spr China could be seen as more stable than us as a trading partner.
Trump has been scurrying to secure Venezuela and trade routes such as the straight of Hormuz.

Because too many countries lost confidence and were trading in their dollars for gold. So the us renigged.
Today the us debt faces a similar issue. It is why they require all stable coin to be backed by us treasuries. To create another buyer of us debt.

We live in a city and a state deeply blue and dominated by the delusion that more government is the answer.
Limited government was the original American design. We need to elect people like Bob Smith and Steve Hilton.
