Just goes to show you why Republicans continue to lose. We've got a candidate. He's not perfect. But he's good. Wobbly RINOs, insecure moralists, undecided Nikki backers, et al, need to find a clothespin, put it on their nose, and vote FOR THE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE AND STOP KNOCKING HIM if you really believe we must remove the plague called Joe Biden from office in November. Get a grip!
Don't you think you should be addressing this comment to Trump, who routinely bashes other Republicans and has helped to destroy the Republican Party in Arizona, Wisconsin, Michigan and other important battlefield states. If you don't kiss his ass or you have the temerity to disagree with him on anything, he will eviscerate you no matter how good a conservative you are. If you don't believe me just ask Congressmen Chip Roy and Thomas Massie, both far more conservative than Trump and excellent members of Congress. Trump even said that he would support a challenge to Roy in the primary. Why? Because they supported DeSantis.
When I think of Trump, I am reminded of General George Patton. He was an awesome general, feared by the Germans. The other genernals found him a difficult guy, to say the least.. And yet, when it came to do something tough, he got the job. Read the story of the Battle of the Bulge, and who went in to rescue our troops surrounded by the Nazi's - George Patton
I read the Patton biography and I can assure you Trump is no Patton. Patton for all his faults was a brilliant military strategist and tactician, whereas Trump is impulsive, chaotic and has no strategic plan to attain the goals he says he wants. When he says he can solve some intractable problem like Ukraine in 24 hours, anyone with any common sense would know the guy is full of you know what. Statements like that are an insult to my intelligence.
Trump will go down in history as one of the greatest presidents in our long and storied history…try to imagine what would have occurred if Hillary won in 2016…
How close did we come to losing it?
What if she got in?
What if she got (3+) SC Justice(s)?
What if she got 300+ Judges?
What if rogue elements remained [+ more added] within FBI, CIA, NSA, State, DNI, WH, IRS, DHS, ICE, WHO, CDC, ........?
What if our MIL remained financially starved?
What if [F]oreign backers continued to control America's policies?
What if our BORDERs remained open?
What if China was given the keys?
What if NK launched missiles that hit west coast urban areas?
Trump saved us from the second half of the 16 year plan to take down American...now Biden is trying to finish the job...it's time to wake up and fight for our Great Nation!
By losing the election in 2020 and control of Congress, almost everything you were afraid of is happening now.. If he loses again in 2024 and manages to lose Congress again, it will be like Trump was never president. Democrats hate trump so much, they go out of their way to do everything they can to antagonize him, like opening our border to everyone.
believe it or not, Trump giving up the White House is part of the counter-insurgency being run by our US Military…Trump was recruited to run for president and serves as the field general (with a powerful laser pointer)…these past 8+ years have been a public education process with the goal of revelation…we are fighting entrenched enemies…the CCP, with assistance from international crime syndicates, have captured all 3 branches of our government (and all governments across the world - think installation of central banks)…
the silent war continues (5th gen warfare - psychological operations)…God Wins!
PS. Trump didn’t lose, they have been stealing elections for decades…fight for Trump…God Bless
Anti Trump sentiment has been manufactured by the media. As perscribed by Alinsky, the media has personalized opposition to Trump and has been effective in producing a visceral hatred toward the man. This hatred is not based on policy or even any significant character flaws but simply the result of a relentless campaign to inculcate an intense personal hatred. Repeating bits taken out of context such as "Nazis and white supremacists are fine people" has proven to be effective at convincing many including some Republicans that Trump is a racist and deplorable. My neighbor hates Trump but can't identify bad policy but simply maintains that Trump is the dumbest man to ever serve as president. Others (Lou Lou Laughing Boy) have had their considerable sensibilities offended at the suggestion that Trump could achieve peace in Ukrane overnight. I expect such weak mindedness from Democrats but I am surprised the Trump character assassination has been so effective on so many Republicans. I find the whole tone of this piece a bit repulsive Mike Stoker. You are really saying that we should just hold our noses and vote for Trump to stop Biden. NO NO NO NO NO. I will vote for Trump because he is the best President we have had in my lifetime by any measure. Trump loves America and he is not owned and cannot be bought. His strength in the face of years of assault by the justice system is inspiring. Trump is what leadership looks like. Don't hold your nose to vote for Trump, take a deep breath and smell the smell of liberty.
Good one Mike - you certainly got everybody thinking! (and responding).
I really like this forum and the people who contribute . . . despite the ones who disagree with me being wrong! :)
1. First of all - _I love Trump_! I think he’s the best president we ever had - better than Reagan, Lincoln etc. (but not George Washington, the genius who made it all possible.) Trump pulled us back from the Traitor Obama disaster and got the country back on track. He talks straight, doesn’t pull punches, and believes in _the_ most important thing of all - America! I can’t wait ’till he starts rounding up and expelling the uncontrolled hordes who have inundated our country illegally.
2. Biden won’t be the nominee. The Commie-Dems are dumb, but they can’t be _that_ stupid - hanging their hat on this calamity.
3. Niki Haley is more than just a RINO - I consider her dangerous. She would be a disaster for the GOP. Why her donors keep throwing good money after bad to keep propping her up is beyond me.
4. Look - most voters are stupid. They don’t have a clue what politicians stand for - they just see a name on the ballot they sorta recognize and check the box. They’re now a kingmaker!
5. The GOP’s focus on ‘Conservative principals’, hi ground, ethics, ideals etc is a waste of time. Nobody believes it, and most voters don’t understand what is means - they’re far more interested in ‘A Chicken in every pot!” and somebody promising them a warm place to sleep.
Let’s get down to street-talk, expedite the return to sanity and good old American values, and get Trumpy back in office!
There are no truer words, “Freedom must be fought for by each generation…”
We are living in the matrix. Almost everything you have been programmed to believe is an illusion to keep you trapped in a system of control. Our physical world is primarily run by secret societies of elite people who control the masses. They use media outlets, celebrities, movies, engineered foods and mind manipulation tactics to keep the people enslaved.
A 3% tax on tea eventually led to the American revolution. Now we pay up to 70% of our earnings to a De Facto corporate government. We are groped at the airport, surveilled on the street, spied upon in our own homes, fed propaganda by the media, lied to by our representatives, have our rights eroded, our currency devalued and are on the verge of an overt police state. WTF happened to home of the brave, land of the free! Fight for Trump, the only candidate that fights for us…God Bless America
The way to unite this country is to once again go back to the founding principles called the CONSTITUTION FOR THESE UNITED STATES which by the way no party follows. The Constitution is the supreme law of the land, not the supreme court, not congress, not the governors, not Trump or anyone else. When the constitution was ratified in 1787, there were NO PARTIES. The 2 party system has completely destroyed the fabric of our decentralized constitutional republic. We need to follow the constitution to a tee as intended by the founders, only then can we expect to make progress.
I agree with your assessment here. It's nice to see you had a change of heart following your speech to the SBGOP where you (at the behest of the Chairwoman) asked us to rally behind Nikki. We need the Party to unite behind Trump who symbolizes the unprecedented struggle our nation faces (Foreign AND Domestic) under this increasingly Globalist-Marxist-Socialist agenda. Nikki is the embodiment of those opposing forces and her campaign is being propped up by the big money donor Globalists, Corporatists and DEMOCRAT'S that are actively behind the movement. We need leaders who see the malevolent agenda at hand and stand strong in the breach. Leaders who have the moral and principled courage to stand up and fight for what's right and just. I would slightly edit your title and proclaim "It's Time for Republicans to Unite...and Fight". I'm glad you had a change of heart and welcome to the fight.
If this is the most important election in our lifetime then Republicans should have voted like it was instead of selecting the guy who has the least likely chance of winning in 2024. Will suburbanites, college educated voters, women and independents vote for Trump in numbers sufficient to change the result from 2020? The answer is probably not. Trump won in 2016 but has delivered losses in every election since then. Besides losing in 2020, he presided over a Democratic Congressional landslide in 2018 and managed to help snatch defeat from the jaws of victory due to scores of Trump-endorsed candidates losing very winnable elections. There is a reason why left-wing PACS helped finance numerous candidates endorsed by Trump in Republican primaries in the last two elections, and Biden is relieved he now has the candidate he wants to run against. Democrats may suck on policy but they are pretty good at politics, so it would be foolhardy to dismiss the fact they would rather run against Trump than any of the other candidates. Trump is a turnout machine, unfortunately its mostly for the other side.
I remember all the same arguments used against Reagan. From my history books I remember the same arguments used against Lincoln, Adams, Jefferson, Jackson…etc. At the time, they were all called stupid flawed corrupt criminal human beings undeserving of the job. (My favorite is always when the opposition calls their opponent “unpresidential” that’s how I know they are losing)
In retrospect all considered our finest presidents.
BTW, statistically the most popular president in American history was Nixon.
So now we are being told the same lies, damn lies, and statistics…warning us not to vote for yet another genuine populist presidential contender. Unlike all that have come before; This one we have already experienced what it is like to have him in office and can easily compare and contrast to the alternative. A simple Reagan-esque question of “Are you better off now than you were 4 years ago?” will suffice.
The tide is shifting. You can go down to the beach and watch the water going out and exposing the naked sand. A tidal wave is coming. You can’t stop it. But with a little balance, and practice, you can surf it 🏄♂️
The choice is yours. You can stand your ground there on the beach against the oncoming wave, or ride it.
Whatever your animosity is toward this man and his populist movement, Whatever reasoned intellectual arguments you may make against it, whatever either side throws up to stop it… I assure you, the wave does not care.
Joe Biden looks like the most corrupt president in American history. He takes money from foreign countries and companies and says they are loans to his family. He has been bought and paid for.
One last comment for this post. Senator Cruz is much more magnanimous than I could ever be. If someone called my wife ugly and said my dad killed JFK, I would support the devil if that who he was running against. I guess many in this comment section would say that's a flaw in my personality. If it is, so be it.
RFK Jr recommends reading "JFK and the Unspeakable - Why He Died and Why it Matters" (Douglas) as the most accurate assessment of who in fact killed JFK. A long, detailed and often convoluted diagnosis.
I only offer this as a recommendation by JFK's own nephew who later also lost his own father in that painful period of US assassinations in the 1960's.. Definitely provocative material put on the table, in this rendering. And a reminder of the lingering loose ends yet to be tied together, not unlike some of the simmering deep state controversies we continue to face today.
How prescient was Dwight Eisenhower when he warned against the long reach of military industrial complex in his farewell address? That is the crux of this particular JFK book.
Suddenly today, Jan 25th, Stoker is regailing against Frank Troise, candidate for 3rd district supervisor. WHy today, 6 days before ballots come out? Why not earlier? What happened?? Carol in Lompoc
Here is an out-of-box thought. If Biden does run for the presidency, he will ditch Kamala as his running mate and replace her with a person who could become de facto president until he resigns because of ill health and age. Then, that person will actually, be the president.
If that person was somebody like Michelle Obama, Trump is unlikely to win.
On the other hand, if Nikki Haley was to be the candidate and she picked the right person, she would be more likely to win.
I think it is too early in the selection process, given all of the legal and other uncertainties surrounding Trump, to push Haley out of the race.
I voted for Trump twice, but now I would like to see what Nikki Haley can do to improve her standing with more than the few voters who have voted so far in small states.
I personally do not think Michelle Obama will bring in any new votes. We are getting Obama III right now with Biden, so how is that working out for America today? Poll numbers indicate not well at all. There is a solid Democrat base, mainly government employees, that will go nowhere else, and they have formidable numbers. So there is no easy path for anyone today.
A Michelle Obama ticket would only stop their leaking; not grow a new coalition. Opinions are fun, aren't they. Is Trump bringing in new Independents for any RINOs who choose to sit this one out?
The irony is the author is asking Republican voters to unite around Trump when he goes out of his way to alienate many of them by personally attacking and ridiculing DeSantis, the most effective governor in the US who is far more conservative than Trump, and calling Haley a birdbrain and threatening to ban her donors from his administration. 30% of Republican voters have said they will not vote for Trump under any circumstances and the number is much higher if he is convicted of any of these indictments. In his victory speech in New Hampshire, he threatened to get even with his Republican opponents. Under the circumstances you can forget about uniting the party and growing the base of voters he needs to win when the main guy is tearing apart the party with his juvenile antics.
I didn't say any of those things about DeSantis, Haley, or any of the other Republicans who have been in this race. On the contrary, I have only said positive things about them all in prior writings and in public speeches. the whole focus and theme of the Op-Ed is there is no longer a pathway for the last remaining candidate, Haley, to win so she could get out and join with all the other candidates in supporting Trump. If there was any logical pathway I would be 100% supportive of her staying in. Regardless of how you feel about Trump, and believe me, I have my issues with him as well, it's now time to unite as it is Trump or the alternative with Biden and his policies that are killing this country. Perhaps you support those policies. In that case I understand your comments. If you don't, you have no viable alternative left other than to support Trump. I have always voted the policies over the personalities. And there has never been more at stake for the future of our country. That was the whole point of the Op-Ed.
Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you said it. It's Trump who has unmercifully attacked DeSantis, Haley and other Republican who dare to question him or oppose him. Trump attacked DeSantis 5 days before his re-election last year. If he is willing to torpedo the election of one our best governors in the US, then it's hard to see how he can ask for loyalty from the very people he is willing to destroy if they get in his way. If he wants to unite the party, then he should walk the walk.
America today has an excellent farm club of GOP governors; not just Florida. It is a proud moment for conservative principles; translated by a variety of personalities. Desantis at this point in time simply did not gain national traction, much like another prior excellent GOP governor Scott Walker in 2016. I liked both, but it was just not their time.
Re-grounding our nation in the conservative principles that marked its unique founding, is a task for many voices at many levels. Considering how far we have moved from those original founding principles into a vast Big Government nanny-state imposing ruinous future debt and two systems of justice, will not be easy. Nor should it be reduced to a one shot, one personality undertaking.
One hand has five fingers. We don't need to break off one finger, when it helps the hand move towards a better final goal.
Trump is his own worst enemy. He is undermining and sabotaging the very goals you have cited in your comment. If we need all five fingers to attain the goals you outlined, then you should find a candidate who doesn't treat the other 4 fingers like they are the enemy if they don't kiss his fat finger.
Okay. I get it. You won't be voting for Trump. Too bad if we get stuck with Bumblin' Biden for four freakin' more years... I guess you'll be pleased.

Many of the statements in this excellent essay are what Democrats and never Trumpers need to be reminded of.
Today, we have seen what a jury can do to Trump in civil case. A jury in a criminal case could be worse.

If we need all five fingers to attain the goals you outlined, then you should find a candidate who doesn't treat the other 4 fingers like they are the enemy if they don't kiss his fat finger.
we are at war, although most can’t see it since it is a silent war for the hearts & minds of those still asleep…
It was not so long ago that topics such as:
The Great Reset.

The great replacement theory.
The global cabal.
MK Ultra.
Project Mockingbird.
….and many more, were considered “crazy conspiracy theories” - and they are now going mainstream…
