Kamala Spews! Medvedev Drools! Burford Blues! Larry David Queues!

“Harris opens up about her historic presidential run after Biden’s exit in new memoir, ‘107 Days’” (AP)
Historic? Oh, please. More like… comic.
“Kamala Harris will not run for California governor in 2026” (CNN)
Excellent news for Californians.
The Kameleon also hums that elective office is no longer her thing, though I suspect she continues to harbor a fantasy about occupying the Oval Office, part of Ivory Tower Delusion Syndrome.
Symptoms include:
Deploying abstract language disconnected from practical outcomes, e.g.,
“We must work together to work together so we can work together...”
Disconnection from ground-level reality: often responds with vague themes like “equity” or “conversation” and believing that naming a problem repeatedly counts as solving it.
Emphasis on symbolism over substance: a belief that being first or historic is more important than being effective.
“The system is broken,” she cackled at Stephen Colbert on TV, yet neglected to mention that Obama and Biden (along with herself) broke it—a woke-broke that’s finally getting repaired.
“Kamala Harris has misgivings about government. Some Dems have misgivings about her.” (Politico)
No shit. And most Americans have misgivings about Dems.
Witness…
‘Many Democrats call their party weak and ineffective, poll finds” (AP)
Gee—wonder why!
Yet…
“James Carville insists Democrats have a 'bucketload of talent' coming for 2026” (Fox News)
“Trump Tells Russian Official to ‘Watch His Words,’ but He Bites Back Instead” (NYT’s)
The lede should’ve read: “He burps back.”
Donald should know better than to engage in a spat with an interminable drunk.
Nonetheless, it is a delight to see Trump bark back at Kremlin’s Kreepy Krawlers after three years’ of drunken Dmitry’s slurred twaddle.
Breaking…
Medvedev Muted
Putin’s spokesman—”Pesky” Peskov—just clarified that only Putin’s words matter, not the hooch-fueled yelps of Dmitry (pass-the-vodka) Medvedev.
Meanwhile…
“Hidden details of Putin’s private life show his ‘real worldview,’ new book claims” (International Consortium of Investigative Journalists)
Putin masks himself as the father of traditional values.
Truth is, Mad Vlad’s iron-fisted rule is about loyalty to his ex-KGB/mafia-adjacent circle and a private life that mirrors his public policies: exploitive, deceptive, aggressive; built on patronage and repression.
So, no surprise that…
“Putin’s ‘secret daughter’ cryptically says Vlad ‘destroyed her life’ and ‘killed millions’ as she lives in exile” (The Sun)
Even Mad Vlad’s own blood can’t stand him.
And 22 year-old Elizaveta Krivonogikh has the guts to say it out loud.
What’s next for Eliza? Poisoned tea? A trip out a high window?
With psychopathic Putin, nothing’s off the table.
“‘We’re struggling’: unease as crowded Cotswolds braces for JD Vance’s summer holiday” (The Guardian)
The sleepy hamlet of Burford not so sleepy anymore
Another “silly season” travel adventure from the archives.
This one took me to Burford, known as “gateway to the Cotswolds”—of late a Mecca for Americans emigrating to Britain.
There’s a lot of dark energy and ancient stuff in the UK. As in, ghosts and demons.
I stayed overnight at The Burford House Hotel…
“Rare aerial imagery shows displacement and destruction in Gaza” (Washington Post)
Plain and simple: Hamas must release all remaining hostages and stop hijacking humanitarian aid meant for the Palestinians people.
Exploiting suffering for propaganda is cynical and cruel.
After that? Crawl back into whatever hole they came from—and stay there.
“The Left wants everything to be ugly. That’s why they hate Sydney Sweeney” (The Telegraph)
The absurd over-reaction to an American Eagle ad shows how little cultural power ‘progressives’ now have
Amen, sister.
More power to Sydney Sweeney and American Eagle.
“Veteran C.I.A. Official to Retire After Losing Out on London Job” (NYTs)
Tom Sylvester, the CIA’s Deputy Director for Operations, was expecting to become chief of station in London—the most prestigious foreign posting and the usual swan song for capping a successful career.
The offer was abruptly rescinded following the publication of The Mission, a book by reporter Tim Weiner, which included Sylvester’s comments interwoven with critical analysis of Trump-era leadership.
Deep Tonsils phoned in from Whitefish, Montana, with his two cents.
“Larry David Sets HBO Return After ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ With American History Sketch Comedy Show; Obamas’ Higher Ground to Produce” (Variety)
Brace yourself: A woke-inspired rewrite of American history is in the works.
Maybe Larry should start by revising the menu at Bar Lou in Montecito, where I spied him Friday evening in line, enthusiasm curbed.
Given fresh revelations about his role in the Russia Hoax—a calculated effort to undermine the U.S. political process—it might be time for Obama to rename his production company Lower Ground.
And finally…
What do you call three crows on a beach?
Butterfly Beach
Chat GPT: “Cawsmic counselors. (Yes, the universe is ghosting you.)”
What a week—whew!
And so should you.
This was a great week just watching Sydney Sweeney demolish Critical Race Theory.
Thanks for the article Robert.
I still don't understand the hysteria over the Sweeney ads but then I don't understand the Dems either.
Good for AE for not backing down. But little did they know, they should know by now, that their attacks actually helped both AE and Sweeney.
The stock of AE went up 16 points, probably more by now Sydney Sweeney has gained notarity and even the Prez has noticed her.
Cancel Culture also tried to cancel Fiesta but I'm glad they didn't back down either one of the longest standing traditions in SB.
