Imagine that, taxpayer funded universities which work in direct conflict with our own energy independence! Wait, there is more, how about NGO’s and NFP’s such as the Sierra Club, Surf Rider, Channel Keeper and EDC which are tax exempt, radical environmental activists working directly against our interests for lowering energy costs and producing energy independence. All while their fellow non-elected radicals on the California Coastal Commission continue to impose frivolous lawsuits and obstacles against oil companies, nuclear power and anyone who is not promoting wind and solar energy. All while the SB channel is situated on a sea of a oil bonanza and deposits.
The City of Goleta is presently and quietly floating the idea of building a second BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) directly next to an elementary school and retirement home. Goleta being the only SBCO city with such a facility. BESS power plants have been linked to uncontrollable fires and massive toxic clouds in Monterey County and other locations. Ironic how directly next to this proposed plant is a SCE Peaker natural gas plant which was mothballed some time ago when a Administrative Judge with the California Public Utilities Commission, ruled that the plant would not meet the needs of the community, even though SCE was willing to retrofit the turbines which powers the plant.
Amazing how a judge ruled closure of a plant before the alternative plant is even voted on by the City Council of Goleta.

Yet,EV charging stations keep being added in the City. They celebrate them when they appear. The EV stations do not produce anything for the city,the consumer does not have to pay tax on using the electrical grid for the roads.
