“Courage…is when you know you’re licked before you begin but you begin anyway, and you see it through no matter what.” – Harper Lee, Author of “To Kill a Mockingbird”
Socialist Rot Takes Root in America
I was recently flattered and humbled to be invited to speak at a retirement home (whose name shall remain nameless to protect the innocent). I was tracked down because of my articles and to share common sense and similar conservative beliefs and to reflect on old Santa Barbara.
The above quote fit the flavor of the meeting where about a dozen very frustrated seniors expressed their concerns regarding the dire straits America is in right now. Even in a retirement environment where political correctness should not exist, this group of residents were guarded abou how management would view them, along with their other more liberal residents.
They even cast the occasional furtive glances of concern.
This is what the United States has become. These residents have seen and lived long lives. They know what we were before this socialist, left-wing, progressive takeover of common sense infected the American landscape. I provided them a little personal background of being an avocado farmer and how over the years root rot killed so many of the trees on our ranch. One woman made the comparison that’s what’s happening to America, the country is infected with a root rot.
These residents so desperately wanted to share their distress, not only with me, but with their fellow seniors. They needed a release for their pent-up anger, fears, and the feeling of helplessness to fix the complete mess the country is in. I was warmed by how much they cared and how fired up they were.
Their fears and worry ran the gamut. From rampant illegal immigration, bringing with it the very real potential for domestic terrorism. Inflation. DEI (Diversity! Equity! Inclusion!). The propaganda the children are being taught and the big one: are elections even legitimate anymore? Have the Democrats taken the cheating so far that fair elections are a thing of the past? The residents questioned if their votes even mattered. Something all rational people have been asking themselves for some time now.
Especially in California.
The Quest: Victory Too Big To Rig
I was asked multiple times what I thought they could do. I surmised that the only option available to us is to still believe our votes count. I did however add, that to beat the crooked Democrats and have a chance to get President Trump back in the White House, we need to win by a margin wide enough to overcome the left’s election fraud.
I was enlightened and saddened looking at the faces of those residents. They want to see America go back to the great country it once was, but they’re scared at the repercussions for speaking up. That’s the environment the liberal cancel culture has created. If you have a contrary opinion to the malicious left, you will be cowered into silence.
By doing so they win.
And up till now, they have won.
From senior citizens to business owners to the family next door, the left has muzzled Americans. It’s easier to just keep your mouth shut than stir the proverbial pot. And because of that, we find ourselves where we are today. One side controls the narrative and the other has been terrorized into submission.
But these residents aren’t going to sit back anymore. The meeting energized them. They intend to start swinging. They’re going to express their opinions. Form a group among themselves of concerned old-school citizens. Spread the word. Let their small corner of world know they’re not going to sit back and get run over anymore.
Poking the Bully Back
I likened this cancelling culture to that of a bully who keeps poking his finger in your chest. He’ll keep poking because he knows you’ll never fight back. But when the day comes you finally do, it catches the bully off guard. Throws him for a curve and he doesn’t know how to deal with it. That’s what Americans need to do and are starting to do. Poke the bully back. Stand their ground and say “Enough is enough. “There is a movement underway to do just that.
At this point we’ve lost so much; we have nothing more to lose.
These intelligent and articulate residents care about their country. They are clinging to the ideals that got us this far. They understand they’re not going to have to live with the utter chaos coming our way. However, if we don’t stop this progressive train, they all have children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who are going to have to survive this madness. Those are the ones that need to be reached. Get it pounded in their skulls that you can’t ignore the insanity plaguing the world outside their social bubble. They need to lift their heads from the cell phones, start looking around and pay attention. Their future, or lack thereof, is staring them in their faces and they’re oblivious.
Crossing Fingers, Hoping for the Best
I was beyond happy to have shared over an hour with these wonderful people. I was very flattered they had invited me. I had never done that before and had no idea how it was going to play out. And even though we were all speaking to the choir, it was a pep rally of sorts. They were able to share and vent their frustration.
They can make a difference.
We can all make a difference.
You can say what you will about Trump, but we have two choices this fall. The group diagnosed Biden as a failed “leader” and a man in serious decline. He’s not fit, and hasn’t been, to continue as leader of the free world. An oxymoron when used to describe Biden.
Trump had proven himself but was robbed of finishing the job. He needs to be given another chance to clean up the mess and get the country back on the track of normal before it completely derails.
One final note, I asked our small gathering how many thought the last election was stolen. Everyone raised their hands. Armed with that belief, if there was ever a time to vote, we need to do so with a vengeance. And don’t use ballot boxes or allow your ballot to be harvested. Wait until the last day to mail it. Some say vote early, but I don’t trust my ballot floating around any longer than necessary. Then cross your fingers. We must fight the cheating in what little ways we can.
It's a shame that things have come to this, but that’s the gutter the Democrats have tossed us in.

I retired to the small wonderful town of Lompoc in 2015. Because I had been very active in poliitics in Orange County, and would be attending President Trump's innauguration when he won, I was appalled that three so called Republican councilmen and mayor were planning to put a drag strip here on the apron of our airport. One man, Bob Lingl, was a candidate for mayor and he was agaisnt the planned drag strip in the town. I became his campaign chairman and he won mayor of Lompoc. The drag strip lost. Then I organized. rallies for Trump and. found out everyone was afraid to place Trump signs on their lawns. for retribution by local democrats. But our rallies gave people courage, and soon you would see Trump signs everywhere. Thousands of Lompoc voters voted for Trump, and I will be organizing rallies again for that great man. Stand up and be counted by joining our rallies for President Donald Trump in Lompoc! Carol in Lompoc
We need to pray that God hears us and gives us good leaders. As a nation we need to repent. That starts with the church. We all need to speak up and not be cowed into silence by the fear of someone disapproving of our views. Truth is powerful and a little light chases away a lot of darkness. I talk with people every day, and assume they have some knowledge of truth in their mind and heart. It was put there by the Creator, however it may be buried by a persons desire to deny it and pretend we are in charge. What is encouraging is how many folks eyes light up and they express similar ideas and a longing for a return to sanity in this nation. Every one of us needs to be courageous and speak up truth wherever we go and to whomever we speak.
By the way, the answer to avocado root rot it replacing the old trees with breeds that are fungus resistant. Teach your children and grandchildren the truth. In SB we have a great resource in the Young Americas Foundation which brings great truth tellers in regularly. We are starting to bring out teen age grandkids.
