Are there enough common sense American voters left who are paying attention to make a difference in the 2024 election? So many of my (past) friends and young people have been snookered and suckered into believing so many lies. What's more convincing, what you are told or what you see right before your eyes?

You’re so right, and it’s because like most people, your (past) friends don’t watch politics much, they just cruise along picking up a name here and there then check the [x] D box. Trumpy and the GOP has gotta be _sold_ like selling every other commodity! Who’s gonna buy Lux-O soap if the ads don’t tell you how great it is, how cheap it is, how people love it etc.

Forget about preaching to the choir - we need to appeal to the people who don’t watch Fox News - everybody watching Fox is already voting for Trump.

We need to convince the few common-sense Commie-Dems and especially the Independents that Trump and the GOP can make their lives better, and the only way to do that is to hustle them with compelling advertising, marketing and promotion !

Independent voters are still sitting on the fence. Won't register as Democrat, and won't register as Republican. Their numbers are growing. They do inherit the consequences of decisions either major party makes today. Their independent voter registration reflects their general dissatisfaction with both parties.

How do independent voters awaken to the financial peril our current government decisions have created for them. They became strong believers in the climate peril, which still remains only an inchoate threat, if at all. Yet the fiscal peril they now face is real, but does not resonate with the same urgency.

It is a challenge to reach independents with your very sane message. Right now they are asked to vote for a party that promises to give them things now vs. a party that is accused of taking things away. Tough call. What is the best message for independent voters to hear?

Tax payers already fund Veterans Administration special programs specifically for homeless veterans. Congressperson Salud Carbajal needs to correct the often repeated claim "homeless veterans have been abandoned."

It is Representative Carbajal's duty to ensure this currently funded federal program offers sufficient outreach and accommodation. Representative Carbajal must provide updates on his efforts before the next election. https://www.va.gov/homeless/

as a veteran, my experience tells me that the VA is almost totally worthless to most vets…Trump gave a good bit to turn things around, but the system is lacking and poorly managed…odd (and sad) that our Great Nation does not care for its Warriors, given that most societies held up soldiers with great honor down thru the ages…

Salud Carbajal has seniority now in Congress. He has long traded on his own veteran status. He should be leading the charge for this VA turn-around 24/7..

The dedicated VA agency is there. The money is there. But benefit for tax dollars to mission remains MIA. OMB is the obvious agency to monitor failing tax dollar accountability How about a mission score card for tax dollar ROI?

Thank you for sharing your own personal VA experience.

Salud Carbajal is part of the problem and is also worthless…he is part of the paid ruling class…any pol that does not put 100% into closing the southern border to the international invasion is working against our Great Nation…2024 will be glorious, Age of Aquarius has begun…all lies will be revealed…Happy New Year

Yes, Biden and Dems are spendthrifts but why ignore Trump who spent federal dollars like a drunken sailor. The national debt increased by $8 trillion during Trump's time in office. We got the $2.2 trillion Cares Act by Trump, which funded the oppressive lockdowns and resulted in more fraud and abuse than any other time in history of the US. If inflation is caused by federal spending, then Trump is equally to blame for the massive increase in consumer prices in the last three years. Wonder why author just focused on Biden and not the deficit-happy Trump

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act,[b][1] also known as the CARES Act,[2] is a $2.2 trillion economic stimulus bill passed by the 116th U.S. Congress and signed into law by President Donald Trump on March 27, 2020, in response to the economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States.[3][4] The spending primarily includes $300 billion in one-time cash payments to individual people who submit a tax return in America (with most single adults receiving $1,200 and families with children receiving more[5]), $260 billion in increased unemployment benefits, the creation of the Paycheck Protection Program that provides forgivable loans to small businesses with an initial $350 billion in funding (later increased to $669 billion by subsequent legislation), $500 billion in loans for corporations, and $339.8 billion to state and local governments.[6]

It was the democrat mayors and governors all across the country who shut down their cities, closed their schools, made criminals out of gym owners and demons out of church pastors. The country was on the brink of collapse because of stupid, stupid decisions. Ron DeSantis didn’t buy into it and he was crucified for going against the liberal grain by doing the right thing.

Everything listed above where the money was to be spent was a socialist dream. Did I personally like it? No. I knew it was going to be wasted. But we were teetering as a nation and it desperately needed propping up. Was there corruption? Of course there was, is and always will be. In California alone $33B was pilfered from the EDD and no one was held accountable. We have no idea where the money is going in Ukraine. No idea where the money is wasted for infrastructure. No clue how millions of illegals are enjoying the fruits of our taxes as Americans are struggling under “Bidenomics” while the cartels have become billionaires. Should the republicans take some blame? You bet. I’ve said that many times. I’m just as angry at their weakness. Especially when it comes to the border. No one in government has the cajones to do what needs to be done.

Finally, the left needs to let it go. The obsession over Trump requires medical attention. Trump hasn’t been president for three years! Everything going on today falls in Biden’s handler’s laps. Not poor ole Joe, he’s clueless.

Agree with just about everything you said. However, I would argue that trump is just as much to blame as Biden for tremendous amount of inflation we had in the last three years since he managed to add $ 8 trillion to our public debt during his watch. In some ways he might be more culpable inasmuch as he appointed the current Federal Reserve Chairman, who claimed inflation was transitory for more than a year while prices were increasing at rate of 9% or more. Lastly, I am glad you mentioned DeSantis and what he did to keep Florida open despite all the criticism. To have Trump claim that Cuomo did a better job than DeSantis during the pandemic or complement Newsom because he was nice to Trump, is beyond the pale. If you remember he excoriated Kemp in Georgia for attempting to reopen the state in Spring of 2020. Remember it was Trump who kept Fauci in a prominent role during the entire pandemic and then gave him an award on the last day of his presidency. I can't countenance this crap and is one of the reasons why I can't stand the guy. The fact that Republicans are choosing this pathological liar, Trump, over DeSantis is absolutely crazy.

Lou , I’ll wager that Schulte will not respond to your questions . Yes , both party’s contribute to our fiscal irresponsibility, however Republicans have the upper hand in the blame game.

Let’s hear from Trump supporters about his promises to quash the debt .

Why are you blaming Biden and the rest of the Commie-Dems? They haven’t changed tactics - they’re doing what they said at the beginning. Blame the stupid people who keep voting them into office!

A very good analysis and commentary on reality. I look at the US Debt Clock once a month and despair. The question is when, not whether, the day of reckoning will come. When that day comes, it will be a sudden collapse of the dollar. The idiots in congress and the White House created this coming crisis and they won't be able to fix it, unless we demand that they do so, before the deluge.

Yahoo just wrote an article this morning on the 4 things Biden did right for 2023 and the 3 things that need improvement. It was a Shrill piece for socialism, and all of it a lie. What you wrote Henry is exactly the truth. And America is watching and listening, and most of us don't have our heads in the sand!

Just one example of the article: Yahoo stated that spending was up in America! hahahah, of course it is, groceries, utilities, gas, taxes, inflation, everything is up, so if you need to feed your kids, you are spending more! Like we are all excited that America is spending more. America is spending itself into debt. Highest credit card debt per capita in decades.

WE all need to keep looking UP, because the only constant in our lives, is the Faithfulness and steadfastness of the Lord......

And continue to pray for the Peace of Jerusalem.....

Happy New Year fellow Santa Barbarians.
